Wedding Woes

I think it is THURSDAY

I kept thinking yesterday was Thursday since I worked from home and usually I only do that on Thursdays.

Re: I think it is THURSDAY

  • It's been an eventful few days.

So Monday evening was normal. BabyKitten was in a mood and not eating, so we figured it's teeth {cuspids - more on that in a second} Gave her cold and mixed textured foods {yogurt, cheese, rice rusks, etc} and she seemed content.
    I had soup, and M had rice {giving BabyKitten bites}

She went to bed. I felt tired. Didn't finish soup because I felt like I had indigestion, so I had some mint to try and settle it.
About 10:30 hell broke loose. I was sick. Basically didn't stop. Tried gravol night but that eventually came back and felt like battery acid.
By 1am I was dying and had nothing left but still kept heaving :( M stayed home, and I ubered to the hospital.
1:30am I was in triage, and shortly after they had me back for hydration and liquid gravol and in isolation. Luckily there was a bed, so I was able to lie down.
Dr came in and gave me another bag of liquid meds and a small bag of hydration. Once those were done, I could go.
    I was home by 4:30am

Apparently BabyKitten had woken up shortly after I left and couldn't get back down :( So M was running on low sleep too.
We stayed home to sleep. BabyKitten ended up coming home early because she was fever-y and miserable.

Since then, upper right cuspid and lower left cuspid broke through. She's still off and on fevered, and hit and miss on mood. She slept better last night but cried a few times. I was off with her yesterday because daycare is sick and seeing dr to be sure it's nothing worse.

M is home with her today because daycare is again closed, but she's still fever-y :( I think last 2 cuspids are coming soon.
  • I had my first mammogram yesterday.  It was fine; I think my ribs and face were more uncomfortable than anything.

I'm still not entirely sure what happened last night, but K woke me up by smashing the top of their skull into my right cheekbone.  I was half laughing/crying b/c it really hurt.  They said they were having a dream and were laying back down, but then they went right back to sleep!  I was more mad about that than anything.  I was up for probably around an hour b/c of the adrenaline rush I got.  I think they jostled my neck/shoulder area weird too, because that's achy today.  Hopefully, my face doesn't actually bruise, but it's definitely tender at the point of contact.

I started my HealthyBet thing yesterday.  Between the time of the last gallbladder attack and having it removed, I was able to be very true to my meal plan, b/c I was afraid of feeling pain like that last attack ever again.  I lost 10 pounds in those 2 weeks.  I've always known that my main weight issue was my eating habits, and this was pretty good proof.  So, I decided I needed something that had some negative reinforcement.  So, I'm giving $40 a month, which is a little bit more than I'm comfortable giving up in a budget so there's a negative connotation to lost money, plus the positive of making more money at the end.

    Otherwise, work is SSDD.
  • I’m also incredibly ready for the weekend. I’ve had terrible insomnia that past two nights and it’s really getting to me. I’m exhausted and work is super busy so I can’t take time off to catch up. H has been great and he feels really bad but there’s nothing he (or really anyone) can do. I feel bad because I come home from work and all I want to do is rest. I’m super boring now.

  • I sent Chiquita back to school and she just puked.   FUCK. FUCK.FUCK.
  • I’m pretty tired. I worked 12 hours yesterday and I’m back at work again an hour early. My coworker and manager are out for the next few days so I’m picking up their work too in the meantime. At least the overtime will be nice? I’m ready for the weekend.

It’s been super windy and the drive to work has been a little stressful. Last night on the way home a tumbleweed the size of a Ford Escape almost hit me on the freeway. Cool, good to know they don’t stop in the size of a Mini Cooper like the one that almost hit me a month ago. Lol.

@MyNameIsNot not really a “beach book” but I just finished Ruby by Cynthia Bond and it was heartbreaking but beautifully written. It has just about every trigger warning possible in it though and it can be a tough read. I finished it a few days ago and am still mulling over the trauma so it might not be the best vacation book.

I *think* it has to do with the fact that I gave her the antibiotic and Tami-flu before school this morning because she needs two doses a day and THEN her morning started with gym class.

@levioosa, if you had to wager a guess, a kid who hasn't puked in 3 days, hasn't had a fever in 3 days and has acted normal in the morning pukes 1.5 hours after the two doses and in gym class?  Do you think it's that she's sick or that I need to continue to space the meds and NO FUCKING JUMPING?
  • Aww man Banana!

Kitty - do you have the flu??

I have awesome news. One of our vendors funds a fancy vacation each year for their top customers. Usually one of the owners will go (2, and they take turns), but they've decided to let me take the trip this year. SO, H and I will be going to Hawaii in April! Super excited and honored!
That’s awesome!! You all have had quite a year, you totally deserve a vacation!
  • @banana468 I’m sure the school is going to make you take her the the doctor to get a note. If there’s no fevers, no lethargy, no body aches or chills, no diarrhea or shortness of breath or difficulty breathing then it’s likely that it’s just the two meds stacked that made her nauseous. If she keeps throwing up or starts to go backwards in recovery then she should go back in to see the doctor. Meds kind of suck that way and antibiotics are notorious for nausea.

    I figured you'd agree.

I'm not planning to take her to the doctor but I do need to sign off on a note that she's puke free.

Whatever - she's out tomorrow and now she gets the weekend.
  • Oh no @MissKittyDanger and @banana468!! Healing vibes all around.

@VarunaTT, DH can do the same damn thing in his sleep where he impacts me somehow with his movements and I'm all, "HEY!" He says "oh sorry" and goes right back to sleep.  I'm sitting there full of nervous energy and annoyance.  Also, how you have to hold yourself during a mammogram is so weird and unnatural.

DefConn had quite the breakdown over all the things last night.  We tried to reassure him, but also we got together some talking points to send in an e-mail to his teachers to see if there is anything that can happen at school to help him out.  I know taking action is good and hopefully things will move in a positive direction, but I still feel that pit like I've somehow failed or not paid enough attention or not done enough.  Ugh.  I hope this weekend that we can have a little bit of a reset.

Of course DH and I processed the stress of this quite differently and then we were at odds a little bit after talking with DefConn.  I know part of it is the immense outside stress we're both under (me with my family stuff and him with work and a 'surprise' gov't audit next week). DH goes into 'I need to solve this' mode and works out his emotions while coming up with the solution and I need to process my emotions before I can be objective about how to resolve the situation.

Anyhoo...Prudie is coming up now that my work computer seems to not being as big of a dick as it was earlier this morning.
  • You’re doing great @mrsconn23 and a breakdown for DefConn over all of this is normal. You’re doing the right thing by talking to him and giving his teachers a heads up. It’s hard and there’s definitely no quick fix but you’re doing the best you can, and that’s the best you can do.
  • @missJeanLouise I thought you guys were moving back to the states - did that change or is it not until another year?
  • @kvruns not until another year but it is a moving goalpost. I could stay for another 10 years. DH either wants to move back yesterday or stay for 2-3 more years, he changes his mind all of the time. Right now, we are waiting to see how the presidential election goes. (Though if 45 is reelected, I fear he might make things here too dangerous to stay)
  • @MyNameIsNot my book club is reading Still Life by Louise Penny and The Good Life by Martina Cole. I think both are mysteries. I finished Still Life, it is a good beach read. For something lighter, I liked Matchmaking for Beginners by Maddie Dawson.

@banana468 Such Bad Luck! Fingers crossed it is a one off and your H's birthday isn't affected.

@MissKittyDanger hope you feel better soon.

My week was pretty good, just a lot of normal life shit. DH's company is still in the middle of transitioning so that has him stressed. Nothing big this weekend except we are attending our 2nd first meeting with a marriage counselor after the first one didn't work out.

My aunt put a deposit on a beach house for a week in July so I have some dates to start planning our US tour around. I would like to stay for 6 weeks back but I know DH can't take that much time off and idk how I would do with traveling solo with a toddler for 2-3 weeks. Just thinking about the amount of luggage makes me tired.
    Local beach house??
  • Sounds like a lot of people are having a rough Thursday!  I hope that everyone that is feeling sick gets better soon!  And of course, the weekend coming up will hopefully have everyone catch up on sleep.
@MyNameIsNot My book club just read a crazy book, but it's hard to get your hands on, so I don't know if it is a viable option.  It was called Marching Powder, about a prison in San Pedro where the prisoners have to buy their own cells.  They make their own drugs and deal them out of the prison, and some of them get wealthier by being in prison than by being free.  The prison was featured in Lonely Planet as a place to visit, because tourists can pay for the opportunity to stay the night.
My dog apparently isn't doing well enough for their liking, so they are giving her a blood transfusion today.  So there goes my home renovation money for the next two years, among other things ... I hate spending this much on a dog, but I also hate NOT spending this much on her, so it's a weird conundrum.  I just want her healthy again.

  • @banana468 Westerly, RI. :)

@kerbohl ((hugs)) so sorry to hear about your dog. It is so hard, I know. There's no amount we wouldn't pay to get them well but Damn does it have to be so expensive.

Say hi to T-Swizzle!  FIL has taken the boat that far a few times.
  • @climbingwife had stomach flu :( luckily the meds worked well and all it's going well .... being very gentle on stomach despite feeling better
  • Work is so crazy but today is my Friday.  I'm also working through lunch to leave at 4.  I'm meeting H in Atlantic City and we are staying the night.  Tomorrow I get to relax by the pool at the casino while H goes to his last few sessions.  My mom will pick up DD from daycare today, stay with her at our house and then drop her back off tomorrow.  We will pick her up later in the day.

Depending what time we get back, I think I will make the rainbow sugar cookies I plan to give as favors for DDs upcoming birthday party.  I will just make the dough, dye it and roll it into the rainbow.  I will then vacuum and freeze the dough until the weekend of the party.

Saturday we plan to hook up DDs fan to the electric and start moving the wire towards our room to keep our ceiling fan project moving.  Sunday, DD and I have a wood workshop at the place I go to.  We will be making 4 scrabble letters that spell love.  I think she will get a kick out of it.  My niece is coming too.  Then later in the day, we will go to my brother's house to watch the Super Bowl.

I hope those that are sick feel better!  Hugs for DefConn and the rest of the Conn family!  Banana - it sounds like Chiquita had a reaction to the medicines.  I'm surprised her doctor even let her do gym this week!  I hope your party for DH goes well too!
  • @OliveOilsMom, I didn't even think to bring up gym so that's my fault.

But FFS teachers - if a kid's been out all week MAYBE you tell them to take it easy?   Oh well - she's re-watching all the Harry Potter movies.

Really wish that’s what I was doing today!

She's giggling at Goblet of Fire and watching everyone dancing.
  • I"m home too...kid has a UTI and can't go back to school until there's no risk of an accident (I mean, she CAN but didn't want to.  made sense) BUt it was last minute and I'm standing up folks at work which sucks.

The Mr. has the bona fide flu and has been tamiflu-ed all week.  I'm escaping all of this, mostly.
Tomorrow is sensory friendly hours @ work (YAY), my mom is...having a rough patch (Boo. She's so...I dunno.  not herself. but more not herself than normal)
And I put $2k into my car in the last few weeks.
And that means we cancelled family vacation.
And not wanting the Mr. to flu contagion the whole special needs community means that we cancelled all the kiddo's appts this week, which, really, she NEEDED.

    2020 needs a do-over/Mulligan

  • @GBCK jeez rough :( January is free trial. 2020 starts in February.
  • Hugs @kerbohl and @mrsconn23
All the healthy vibes @MissKittyDanger and @banana468
    Yay congrats @climbingwife that's awesome!
Had a breakthrough with a tough student today.  When my kids go to bed I'm going to read through the Prudies and shore up my shopping list for my Superbowl party.
  • @GBCK I agree - I'm all for a 2020 mulligan!  Sorry about your car - I hope that's the end of the repairs.
