Tuesday

I was off yesterday, so today is my Monday at work, but since its already Tuesday - that's a bonus!

Our weekend was really great!  DD did hit someone at daycare within the first 20 minutes of being there on Friday, but afterwards was a great day!  So glad she got it out of her system early! LOL!  But the teacher said she did so well the rest of the day, we decided to focus on that!  She got lots of praise and had fun with her Valentine surprises that I had planned.  Our weekend of happy DD continued all weekend.  She still had her moments, but don't we all!

H got the electricity hooked up to our ceiling fan in our bedroom.  It is so great!  We have already used it to sleep since it warmed up a little bit and we needed it Sunday night.  H has already decided he wants to do the ceiling fans in the other two bedrooms next winter, since this project went so smoothly.  He still needs to install the ceiling fan and can lights in our family room this winter though.

Today is yoga day and I can't wait!  I need it!  We started doing some cleaning for DDs bithday party this Sunday and I also baked the cakes and iced the in between layers.  They are wrapped up tight and in the freezer.  I will finish the cake on Saturday.  We also got DDs Power Wheels together yesterday and ended the day with dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  DD kept her hands to herself at school too!  Woo hoo!  Little victories!

I am off today with the kids.   We are heading to the trampoline park soon and then out for lunch I think.

I need to get into a gym routine.   Both for my health and to prep for Disney in 2 months.   I can't get there and whine as much as my kids and the holidays plus birthday celebrations have made my high rise jeans feel like they are a bit more constricting .

Ugh 40.   You're coming at me like a freight train.

OOM- Yay for good behavior and a happy toddler! DS just learned how to throw and thinks it is so cool... So that is my life now, lol. Is your husband an electrician or just handy? What kind of cake are you making?

SSDD here. 2nd week of new routine and I am so sore from working out and riding, I might try to sneak a massage in this Thursday but we'll see.

I am already giving myself a head ache about traveling this summer. I was looking at flights and it is all so stupid. I want to fly from here to somewhere in Europe, spend a night or two, and then fly to the States. I want to fly business class because it will most likely just be me and the baby and doing it alone in economy sounds terrible. But it's like there are no direct flights from here to Europe with a baby. If I look without including him, they show up. It is so frustrating. I am thinking about using a travel agent. Thought?

Wow Mrsconn. Those are super Highs and pretty shitty Lows. I would be exhausted emotionally and physically from all of that. Fx they can easily pinpoint what is causing your mom's dizziness (my head always jumps to iron because that is what it is for me) and big hugs for your sister.

Edited because big hugs, not bug hugs.

@OliveOilsMom BabyKitten tends to hit, but only M and I - so we're trying to focus on that. But yay DD for having a good day otherwise :)

Urg our festival line up just released today {for July} and since M and I are saving to sell and buy a new house next year, we're cutting out frivolous purchases. This is one of them :(
RATM, Blink 182, Billy Talent and Dashboard Confessional - h.s self is squealing. So is adult me LMFAO

    https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/21569264/61-baneberry-crescent-kanata-glencairn

    This is a house on our street. Similar layout, but I was showing M {because this is $50k over what we bought - we bought for 198k}
    Based on that alone, we have $70K free {between that price and left over from what we owe still}
We're still saving, but it gives us hope that within a year and some sprucing, we could get a good price.

Between working, I'm also checking out paints. Kitchen, half bath and main bathroom are going to be one colour. It'll all be same tone.

    edit (hit enter too soon)

Weekend was good. Saturday we didn't clean, so Sunday we had to do crazy cleaning Sunday before M's former coworker and his wife came over. They took baby stuff, so our basement is looking SOOOOO much less cluttered!

Monday BabyKitten just fought nap so hard that we just gave up. We're trying to get her off bottles, but until we have a white noise machine we can't really do a whole lot.
Instead of napping, she kept taking off her diaper {we also need to prep for potty training} and then once peed all over her bed.
I was so pissed off, I made M come up and help.

She lay and watched "Cars" because despite fighting, she was really tired.

It’s a Tuesday that feels suspiciously like a Monday, but at least there’s only 4 days of work this week!

Weekend was fine. Saw Jesus Christ Superstar Friday with my mom and while the show is good we could not hear the vocals at all! It’s such a bummer. I scopes the Facebook page of the show and it seems like we definitely were not the only ones.

Saturday H and I were supposed to go out to dinner but he forgot. I was really annoyed. So then we planned to go Sunday but I wasn’t feeling well so we just stayed in and watched The Office.

Exactly. Oh and, my sister put her dog down the day after she got home from her BFF's mom's funeral (which BFF's mom died of cancer).  SO yeah, too much all at once all around.  :/

Just feeling my usual frazzled, lol.  Adding to the frazzle and general annoyance, I have a mystery shop dinner to do tonight and I am so PO'ed at myself for even taking it at all.  I picked it up back in Jan. without checking dates and, while this company is typically flexible with dates, I just went with the dates they already had pre-selected.  Which were actually for Wed. and Thurs. of this week.

Except there are Mardi Gras parades on those days and this location is only a few blocks away from them.  Plus the restaurant is downtown, so they don't have their own parking lot, it is street parking only.  Which basically won't exist during the parades.  So I scrambled yesterday and begged my scheduler to move this shop to next week.  Though I did tell her I could do it today, if I absolutely had to.  Nope.  It has to be done this week, so she moved it to today.  And, on top of that, I have a $60 food credit for Harrahs that expires tomorrow (in an even worse location for parades).  So, first, I'm going to go pick up to-go food to use that credit.  Then I'm going to the restaurant...where I'm only paid a reimbursement...for a dinner I don't even especially want considering my free to-go food.  Plus will need to spend 60-90 minutes tomorrow writing a report about it.

I keep hanging on to a thread by reminding myself that I just need to get through the next few days and then I'll have a 4-day weekend.  Where I am just going to hole up in my house.  Until the MG season is over.  And traffic and stupidity die back down to their normal levels.

MrsConn - Yay for the party going well!  I'm sorry for the rest of it though.  Hugs.

MJL - H learned his electrician skills from Youtube!  LOL!  He did a lot of reading on properly setting it up, the correct way to wire, etc.  Funny enough, his dad always hired out work around the house, but he is getting very handy in his own right!  My parents always DIY, even their kitchen!  So me growing up and seeing everything done, had me doing that too which I think inspired H (the cost difference helps too!).  So H stepped it up a notch, learning about electricity and plumbing that can be DIY type stuff.  We do still hire some of that stuff out.  But this project is 100% H.

This is my inspiration picture for DDs cake: click I already have the unicorn topper part from Etsy.  I did the top layer as white cake and did purple icing in the middle.  The bottom layer is chocolate and I used blue icing.  Those are also tall layers, probably 3, but I'm only doing 2 layers.  So I will be modifiying it slightly.

OOM how fun with the cake, I love those unicorn cakes at the store. I always thought I'd want to make B fun cakes but since we just have a few family members over I haven't tried and I think I'm ok with it. DH is largely self-taught DIY stuff too. He watches a lot of youtube videos and then can tackle most projects. I say far, far away myself as I am not a DIYer at all

MrsConn that is a lot all at once, I hope you're able to find a little break and some peace and quiet soon

@mrsconn23, sounds like, overall, the weekend was a big success and a lot of fun.  Though I can emphasize!  I feel exhausted just thinking about how busy all of that was, lol.  More Ts and Ps for your mom.

@OliveOilsMom, thumbs up to your H!  Those are such helpful skills to learn.  My poor H has hung a lot of ceiling fans, lol.  Including four in our own home.  They're really popular where we leave, which makes them a very cheap "upgrade" for our rentals...but only when they're DIY'ed.  It costs at least 100 bucks to have someone install it for you.  Which is sometimes more expensive then the fan!  It is a pain, though, because it's hard to work over your head.

I’m in a funky mood today. I’m not sure what my problem is, but I need to get out of it.

We got an ice cream maker for our kitchen aid almost 2 years ago and have yet to use it. I think this weekend I’m going to pull it out and try several flavors.

I’m becoming quite the snack enthusiast.

Mrsconn- my heart goes out to you and your family. It is too much to deal with. I hope you are able to get some breathing room soon.

OOM- I love the cake! So cute. It's great you guys are so DIY. I would love to be a certified electrician when I go back to the States. Idk why but I think they are such badasses, lol.

Yas!  Do it!  Good trades people make bank.  Just showing up to an appointment to give a quote.  And then following up with a quote.  Will already put you ahead of 80+% of companies.  And then showing up for the job.  And doing it competently, on time, and on budget.  You'll quickly have more work then you even know what to do with.

Our first "go-to" electrician, and he was licensed, started out working an office f/t job and did electrical work in his spare time.  Then he got so busy he quit his job to do electrical work f/t.  Needed to hire more electricians, there was so much work.

Fast forward just a few years and he was no longer our "go to" electrician, lol.  Not because he wasn't awesome.  But because he totally got out of residential work and only does big money commercial projects now.

FIL came over to get his guitars that he left here this weekend and he said he'd get DefConn on the bus if we need him to. That's why even though the man exasperates me, I can never be annoyed with him for too long.

ETA: And now I may not need to go over there at all because she needs to see a specialist ASAP for a new issue that's cropped up and she's supposed to go in tomorrow. Dad says he's going to take her.  I've still offered myself up if dad really needs to be in the office because the last thing he needs is to not have a job (which I think they can't really fire him since he's got FMLA, but I trust employers about zero).

Stop this ride, I legit want off. :/

This was many years ago but, the local community college back home had/has an electrical program. I took some classes as part of my theatre degree but if you completed the program you were guaranteed a spot in the electricians union. I always thought that was super dope.

@mrsconn23 that's a lot. Glad party went well but agreed when you need a moment to breathe and everything just gets too much.

    That cake sounds awesome @OliveOilsMom!

Last Monday was the first day at a new position that was a huge promotion...it feels great but last week was a whirlwind.  Slightly new schedule for the kids and just trying to settle in...it's a big deal changing schools mid-year.  But it's been good.  This week is February break so enjoying the downtime :)

For your sake I'm glad you might get a break, although I hate that she has to go in for another issue now.

Has your dad submitted any paperwork to make his absences intermittent leave under FMLA? If not I would encourage him to do so so there is a paper trail just to be safe.

He should be taking FMLA.  He has it.

I also bet him stressing about work is his way of exerting control over something, since mom's health is not something he can predict or control.  :/   But his communication with mom (and sometimes us) is not the greatest, so I'm just guessing.  I plan on talking to him after work.  He's supposed to see a counselor soon.

Sorry mrsconn for it being so rough for you right now!  I'm thinking about you.

I love youtube for DIY stuff, but not when it comes to DIY decorating.  That unicorn cake looks amazing, but not something I would ever be able to make!  Hanging up chandeliers and new light fixtures, gardening projects, small repairs around the house and I'm game, but anything artsy and I'm at a loss.  I think the most "artistic" repair I ever made was painting a design around my bathroom mirror to hide some imperfections in the wall.

I am really out of it today, but mostly because I got very little sleep.  Dog was having an off night, and just needed to be taken care of every half an hour.
