Wedding Woes

Missing sleep on MONDAY

Soooo tired. I've been up anywhere from 330-545am every day for the past few weeks. I used to wake up around 615-630 but between DST and baby B waking up stupid early to "potty" every morning but then insist I put him back to bed I'm exhausted.

Today it was the dog waking me up at 330am and I never got back to sleep. The lack of sleep leads to headaches for me too which then just makes the day lovely.

Re: Missing sleep on MONDAY

  • I’m also missing the sleep today. We had a huge windstorm last night, the power was out (well still is) and I was checking on the baby to make sure he wasn’t too cold. We left early to head to my Mom’s apartment since that side of town does have power. Going to be a long day.

    I'm also missing sleep, but that's because I'm an idiot and stayed up until 1 watching tv. Still, it was a nice relaxing weekend. I needed that.

    It got kind of chilly here. I realized yesterday that we need to think about stocking up some preparations for winter. While it's rare that we get snowed in for long periods of time, we typically have 1-2 ice storms that keep us off the road for a day or so and we lose power a lot at the new house.

  • SHIT WEEKEND ALERT (entire vent - feel free to skim)

    Friday - my aunt msg's my mum and I on fb saying my nana {92} was admitted to hospital because feeling really unwell. Low hemoglobin.
    She does have 1 non-functioning kidney so I assumed related to that. Stressful but knew she was good as they were running tests and doing a blood transfusion and setting her up to see specialist this week.

    Saturday - my mum and I do xmas shopping - i'm like 95% done. Just need a few things to get at mall. I'm gonna wait a bit to go. BK was in a mood though :( {we think cross of molars and a growth spurt}

    Sunday - WELCOME TO HELL!
    My aunt msg's us again. My nana is back in hospital for awhile. Her hemoglobin not ok, and they're seeing other things that are suggesting cancer. {leukemia}
    Luckily the hospital is currently safe, so I can book a time to visit my nana for 1hr once I know she's there for a bit and settled. My aunt is gonna keep us posted.
    So I'm already in a rough mood.

    BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE
    So backstory is M's grandpa lives solo. We have a weekly FaceTime with BIL + SIL, MIL + SFIL, M, BK and myself.
    We have it set up that way because we're all busy but sure we'll set time aside for an hour. No issues.

    SFIL msg's M & BIL saying that M's aunt {who does not work and lives across country now} is saying they don't talk to M's grandpa enough and he should get a 15min call daily.
    Excuse me?
    BIL & I ended up saying same - M & I work and have toddler, MIL and SFIL have highly stressful jobs, but MIL does go to see her dad at least 1x week to be sure he's good, has stuff, visit, etc, BIL & SIL just moved and BIL has been job hunting so he's been in a rough mental health spot {they moved to SIL's parents basement}

    Found out this morning it was a little more than a little issue.
    Apparently M's aunt was basically saying MIL doesn't do enough, etc etc.
    MIL said what she was saying was hurtful and M's aunt says "i guess we shouldn't talk" AND BLOCKED HER ON FB

    WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK IS HAPPENING LATELY!?
  • @charlotte989875 we got hit with that wind too.  We luckily kept power but it was SO scary to see my social media fill with "GET IN THE BASEMENT" updates at 10.  It moved quickly and we felt lucky.

    Weekend was nice.   We had MIL and FIL for dinner and then had a fire in the backyard.   I made a delicious Ina Garten chicken and potatoes recipe (totally recommend - delicious and mostly hands-off!) and an apple pie.   SO GOOD.

    Chiquita is distance learning for two weeks due to diagnosed Covid cases in the school.  Chiquito has school today and tomorrow.

    We have family photos scheduled Saturday w/ a local photographer.  Fingers crossed that we continue to stay healthy!   She'll be wearing a mask, they are out side and she has kids that are my kids age in the schools and has been following proper protocols.

    Yeah, all that really sucks. I hope they can help your nana.

    M's aunt needs to shut her mouth. I bet she doesn't practice what she's preaching. Maybe her blocking your MIL is a good thing for your MIL.

    Weekends kinda suck when you're unemployed, but last week there was a lot going on. Today I had to file for unemployment benefits for the last couple of weeks, which sucks because the Texas computer system is fucked up.

    I'd feel better if one of the things I applied for last week works out but....you just don't know.

    My dad's birthday is a few days before Thanksgiving, so at least there are a couple of nice things to look forward to.

    I'm worried the stress this will take on M's grampa. He's going to feel like he's in the middle/reason.
    She likely doesn't. Like she LITERALLY CAN CALL DAILY FOR LONG TIMES
  • Our Covid tests came back negative. However, it took longer than we were told it would take. Oh well, at least we are negative. We had crazy winds here too. Our power flickered  but didn't go out. There are still people without power around here though. I tree fell down behind our house. We live on a hill and have woods behind us with really big trees. This wasn't a huge one but still glad it was on the back side of the house and not the front. It would've hit the house. I've been telling H we need to get the trees out front checked and trimmed. If one of them went, we'd be in a heap of trouble.

    I started decorating for Christmas this weekend. I'm taking it slower than normal because I get worn out going up and down the stairs. Today I'm going to do the upstairs (bedrooms and hallway). The basement is done. I'm leaving most of the main floor until after Thanksgiving. We still don't know who all will be home. DD's covid test was negative (whew!) but she might have to work the holidays because a co-worker's husband tested positive. 2020 pretty much sucks.

    kvruns - Does baby B go to the potty by himself?  DD takes herself to the potty and using her OK to Wake clock, she knows that she has to go back to bed if its dark outside.  She does this by herself, unless she poops, then she yells for one of us.  Would something like that work for keeping you asleep?  The OK to Wake was a game changer for us and it took about 2 weeks for DD to learn the ropes.  She has always been a unicorn sleeper for us and potty trained well too.

    S+S - Someone was commenting on the NJ Gov's facebook page about lace masks and asking to know the "requirements for masks" under the EO.  I found them and linked to them, but it says the mask must cover the nose and mouth and since lace does not fully cover a mouth - its not in compliance.  She still wanted to know the exact mandate.  The FAQ page on masks in NJ tells you to go to the CDC for specifics on masks, so I don't know what her problem is, but this lace mask bullshit, is just that - bullshit!  But I stopped commenting, since she was refusing to read what I sent!

    Our weekend was good.  Saturday we practiced cutting the countertops.  We had a few issues to work through, but one of the countertops had lots of extra space, so it became cutting practice!  We finally perfected our cutting techniques and made all of our cuts on Sunday.  We ended up dinging one, but with the countertop we chose, it kinds blends in!  It will also be behind the coffee pot, so no harm.  Its either live with a chip or go spend another $200.  The chip it is!  We got some take out from a favorite place on Saturday.  Sunday we also did a quick grocery trip and got one of their pizzas for dinner.

    @short+sassy that'd be the end of the friendship...I've unfriended a handful of people I've known for decades over ignorant mask posts.  And omg on that turkey price!
    @kvruns that sounds exhausting, I'm sorry you're having so much trouble overnight
    @MissKittyDanger that's a really rough weekend, I'm sorry

    Saturday was a quasi-Thanksgiving run.  The kids and I visited my parents' house and were outside a bit, but it was in the 40s, so we went inside but with masks.  We were there for dinner so we ate spread out- the kids and I at the dining room table, my youngest sister, BIL and the baby in the kitchen, my parents on one side of their LR and my brother on the other.  (Middle sis and her family weren't there.)  Masks went right back on after dinner.  It felt alright.  I bought a 5-lb turkey breast to keep in my freezer in case Thanksgiving falls through, I'll make a scaled-down dinner for just my household.  But the immediate family only/masks inside and far apart to eat is still currently the plan.  We'll see.

  • @Jen4948, continued good luck with your job search.  At least you are going on a lot of interviews.  I hope something pans out for you really soon.

    @CharmedPam, I'm glad to hear M's dad is out of the hospital.  Hopefully you can get more M time soon!

    @MissKittyDanger, Ts and Ps for your nana.  M's aunt needs to calm it down.  I'm glad your MIL blocked her, lol.  Hopefully that will give her some peace.

    @OliveOilsMom, I knew my friend couldn't be the only person to come up with this terrible idea of a lace face mask, smh.  I hope she gets called out on it the next time she goes to a store and they don't let her enter, until she puts on a proper mask.  Unfortunately, the other mask she made...with the one thin layer material...is black.  You can't tell from looking at it, that it's not adequate protection.  Plus, unfortunately, I don't think most mask mandates dictate how many layers a mask needs to have.

  • @short+sassy  it is one thing to know that you are disagreeing with someone on policy.   It's harder to come to terms with where you think you are with that person when the disagreement is on facts.    It sounds like you've come to terms with it but it's definitely frustrating.

He likes having an audience LOL  He does stay in bed besides going to the bathroom and when I put him back he stays in his room just never goes back to sleep, even if its like 430 am

    That's hard.  Do you require privacy when using the bathroom?  Once she started going potty and washing hands good, we stopped going in with her so much.  We said "Mommy & Dadday like privacy when going potty, you should have privacy too", maybe an approach showing him that that's how its supposed to be may help?  Does your H ever get up for the middle of the night pee audiences?  He should be taking his turns too!

    He laughs if I tell him to give me privacy. I don't actually go in with him but he makes me sit outside the door and wait for him during the day.

    B only wants me. Ever. Sometimes if H is on the couch he will help him but the reality is I'm still woken up by it so even if I dont go help I still can't escape

    Our power went out yesterday around noon because strong winds knocked out a transformer across the street.  Didn't end up coming back on until about 8pm, so we had an impromptu sleepover at the IL's.

    I've been feeling super nauseated (due to pregnancy, not illness) but thankfully no puking.  My initial OB visit is tomorrow so I'm excited to finally see baby and make sure everything is progressing as it should be.  Since we worked with a fertility clinic the last time, we had almost weekly ultrasounds starting at week 4, so it feels like we've been waiting forever.

    @CharmedPam your GYN is a fuckwad.  I'm pretty sure you're very close to me (in the NW burbs?) and I love love love my gyn office if you would like a recommendation.  PM me if you want.

    @charlotte989875 congrats to your H on the job offer!
    LOL this is exactly what my DD said. She has had two ultrasounds this time around (they worked with a fertility clinic but since it is a singleton this time she transfered to her regular OB). Her next one is until 20 weeks. With the twins, she had an ultrasound every month.

    Has anyone purchased a ruby ribbon cami?  It’s the cami replacing the bra and also gives you compression. But it’s $89/cami for the level 5 support I want.

    is it worth it?

  • Update:  I got a lot done with my loan docs today and am feeling more solid about things.  I still need to get my bank/proof of funds documents together, which is a big chunk.  But that is shaping up to be easier than I thought it would.  A BIG question I was not sure about was they requested my leases and proofs of tenant payments for the last two months.

    Did they just want that for the subject properties, ie the two latest renovated duplexes?  Or did they want that for ALL my rental properties.  Phew!  They only want all of that for the subject properties.  Much easier to prepare.

    I'm still stressed they won't think I have enough money in my accounts.  I do, but some of it is very recent and not reflected on my last two months of bank statements.  I told that to the guy I've been working with, but he didn't seem too concerned.  I think I'll be keeping my fingers crossed continually for the next month or so, lol.  He also reassured me about some concerns I had about proof of rent being paid.

    Dad doesn't have Covid.  BIL is Covid+.  Sister and nephews are still waiting.  The kiddo also doesn't have Covid results, but something else concerning came up this weekend.  It's not emergent, but it needs to be monitored ASAP when he gets his Covid result.  DH and I have been worried, but thankfully the NP he saw over the weekend is someone we know on a personal level and she talked to me today and helped me understand some of what's going on (no HIPPA violation or anything) and also DH's cousin is an ER nurse and seems unconcerned with what we've been told.

    The weekend was pretty good.  We went to DefConn's scouts thing on Saturday.  We did our running around after.

    Sunday, DH got up early (bless him) and smoked two massive pork shoulders.  I slept in and then got to putter around the house all day.  I stitched and did laundry.  I washed everyone's bedding.  Fresh linens all around are the shit.

    I slept like shit last night.  I'm having increased anxiety for a lot of reasons and it sucks.  I'm hoping for better sleep tonight.

    If I remember correctly, since your Dad didn't test positive, then you all don't need to get tested or quarantine either?  I'm sorry to hear about your BIL  I hope it is a mild case and he is feeling better soon.  Hopefully your sister and nephews come back negative.  Same with your son and I hope the medical issue that popped up goes smoothly.

    I hope you start sleeping better and your anxiety levels lessen ((hugs)).  Do what you can to take care of yourself.

    We haven't seen my dad or sister's family in over 3 weeks, so no risk to us.  I haven't seen the kiddo in weeks either, but he does work with DH.  However, DH hasn't seen him much because he was doing audit prep and his audit was last week.  SO even if the kiddo is +, I'm not sure we'll have to take any precautions.

    I slept better last night and am feeling better today.
