Wedding Woes

FRIDAY!

My favorite thing this week is Wall St Bros absolutely melting down over real people fucking them over to the point where they're calling for regulation.  But also, they want to regulate social media because...people united to screw them?  Uh, OK.  I know the calls for regulation will go nowhere, but it's funny for the moment.

Tonight is a Costco and, maybe, Trader Joe's run.  We are supposed to get snow all weekend.  Worky-work tomorrow.  Who knows on Sunday? I may try some new recipes. Kitchen experimenting is the perfect snowy Sunday activity.

What's up for y'all?

Re: FRIDAY!

  • I'm also loving the WSB thing. I have a little bit of money in robinhood that I just play around with sometimes. I was going to get into gamestop yesterday, but robinhood blocked everyone out. I am loving that wallstreet is calling foul because.. someone is gaming the system. That's literally what they do. I don't really think that the majority of people driving this are penny investors, though. It's just a different set of assholes.

Anyway, nothing much going on this weekend. We're going a virtual game night tonight. Tomorrow just chores, and I'll see if I can drop anything off for my sister. Maybe a hike, but it's cold.

Once again, out of the loop on American happenings.

    I didn’t work out today, no internet to stream my netflix, so I also didn’t feel like washing my hair either. I put it up in a low pony and used this;
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K36JDVD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_HDM53VJVGMFT0FX4TAG9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I’m getting nothing but compliments.  All three people who made it into the office today lol.  All it took was a $13 hair clip.  I should be lazy more often.

Last night I went to Michaels to get a fake flower arrangment for the top of my pantry - to hide my brackets.  It was not cheap!  It was not even cheap with 25% off! I cringe at the price, but I like it, so that’s all that matters?  Right?
Edit for picture, Dark flowers are my thing, so I like them but to me, doesn’t look $96 worth! They’re not connected so I think i’ll put the light color in the middle.

  • I'm supposed to go to a friend's house for a small gathering for his birthday.  I don't really feel like it, TBH.  I'm exhausted for some reason.  I'm getting plenty of sleep.  I just think it's been so cold and gray this week that my body is trying to hibernate.  I told him I would try, but I'm thinking of canceling anyway.  I had warned him that my emotions were all over the place still, so it's hard for me to guarantee what I will do.

My privacy window film came in, so I'm putting that up this weekend.  I also need to get my oil changed and my tires aired up.  Otherwise, I'm just hunkering down because it's cold.
  • It is COLD and windy and I'm freezing in my office in a turtleneck and Irish sweater and Uggs.

Currently frustrated with the same problem client who was told "This will be ready in mid to late March" so of course they want me to move things around to get them items in February.   Not happening.

On the Robinhood front, DH has an account and we're happy with the performance of what he's chosen but he's also giggled about the antics of the last week.
  • @CharmedPam, I agree on light colored ones in the middle. Floral stuff is so darn expensive!

We are getting together we two other couples tonight for sushi. They are just as careful as we are ie they don't go anywhere either, and we are all tired of that so decided to get together but stay socially distant and masked (except when eating obviously).

I met my apple watch work out goal for the month today yay! It has been a struggle on some days, believe me! I really don't have an excuse for not working out though so I just have to make myself do it.

I big comfy sweater I ordered from amazon arrived this morning. It is so soft but has an odd smell to it. I can't wait to wear it after I wash it. I bought it and some fleece lined leggings because I've been so cold the last few weeks.

Tomorrow is my FIL's 97th birthday. My SIL who lives down the street from him has arranged a Zoom family call tomorrow night. It will be fun. All my kids, H's siblings and his nephew will be on it. It will be during the twins' bedtime so not sure how that will go. They have Zoomed with their great-grandpa a few times but don't really know who he is. DD tries to explain to them that he is her Papa (what they call H).
  • Ugh, I feel for you and your hectic scheudle @levioosa, I usually get no sugar added fro-yo with fruit and nut toppings when I go to the diy yogurt places.  It might not be that bad.  Congrats on the 7 lbs down.
    Treat ‘yo self!

  • It's so freaking cold here today. Can't wait to get home and get back into bed.

I'm getting a massage tomorrow and I'm super excited about it. That's about it.
  • It's going to be a LONG day.  I work until 11AM (maybe later), but then I am doing the 4 gas station audits I mentioned yesterday.  Each one takes about 30 minutes, though most of the work is outside.  But it's a lot to keep track of and a lot of stops, so it gets exhausting quick.  At least it's a pretty, sunny day!  Plus stopping at Walmart to pick up a few things.  Plus stopping at the bank.  I probably won't get home until 2PM and then I'll need to spend about 90 minutes entering all of my reports.  But it's decent money for the time spent, so I just need to keep reminding myself of that, lol.

Not much planned for the rest of the weekend.

@levioosa have the cheat meal! (Treat not cheat)  The most sustainable weight losses/lifestyle changes have to include the occasional treat.  And also...you deserve it!
H has a robinhood and actually had a nice chunk of money in GameStop before it was blocked, which is nice.  I don’t follow stocks at all but lol at the 1%ers flipping out.  I’d like to suggest that they cut the daily lattes and avocado toast out of their budgets if they’re stressed.

14 here and we’re supposedly getting quite a bit of snow Sunday into Monday.  The students are claiming it’ll be a snow day but imagine just enough to muck up the commute.
ETA hope everyone keeps warm and has a good weekend!

My friend's partner had his finger on the pulse and bought a bunch of gamestop when it was at like $20. Last night we were laughing  because she isn't sure how to live her life since "they're rich now", lol. It was a joke but they will cash it out at some point and pay a chunk of their mortgage. Idk what's going to happen but Hopefully something helpful to the common man.

I hope the room is hot!  You can't pay me enough to want to disrobe in this!

One of my fave places uses heated tables.  Getting under the blankets and settled in is one of the best feelings ever.  It's just instant cozy and then you know that you're going to get fully relaxed by the massage.
  • I love that WS is up in arms over the GameStop stuff, but its one of those things I will never understand how it works!  Is it basically the same thing that Winthrop and Valentine do to the bad guys in Trading Places?  Because I don't understand that either!  LOL!

Charmed - Fake flowers are so expensive!  Looks great though!

Climbing - That is a bunch of BS your STBX is pulling.  Enjoy your massage!  You deserve it!

MNIN - Hoping for a quick and mild case for your sister's family and negatives for your parents!

We got DDs sneak peek and her gallery of pics!  TK doesn't let me attach pics anymore, but here is a link to the photographer's website.  If you scroll down to the Instagram section, DDs picture is there on the left. clicky  They came out so great!

Work is really busy as we have a motion due on Monday and its very big and involved!  Lots of exhibits needed as back up and its very important for our case!

H wants to get the ceiling fans installed over the weekend.  After that, we will get the electric hooked up too.  Its looking really good that my parents house will sell!  The offer is pay off them mortgage and back taxes!  The buyer also agreed to give them a bit extra.  I sent my mom some comparables, so that they don't over ask and scare off the guy!  This offer is amazing!  We will have 30 days to clear out what we want and even leave the rest.  There is a lot we want/need, but also a lot we will need to do in my house to get what we want/need.  My parents will be staying with us, when not at the shore.

    Happy weekend WWs!
  • @OliveOilsMom ok I see a girl in a green dress - that can't be her, right? She looks too old??
  • Went to the office for a couple hours today, was pretty empty although the CEO was there which threw me off. Technically our office is closed although you can go in for specific needs just aren't supposed to sit and work all day.

Also went to my chiropractor after that and found out they are no longer in network for my insurance so my cost changes from $30 to $45. Not a huge deal but still a decent price increase now
  • @climbingsingle super jealous of the massage set up.  Enjoy!

Going for a long walk with the babe later bc he is officially down to one nap (previously would not sleep in the afternoon if we went for a walk after lunch but would be a cranky monster by dinnertime).  It's super sunny here so we're excited to get out before it snows all weekend.

Planning on cleaning and watching movies all weekend, maybe baking a bit since it's supposed to snow so much!

Yes, that is her!  She is turning 4!  She is also very tall for her age!
  • Somehow I thought she was 2 so when it said turning 4 I was like that can't be right. Such a great picture I love everything about it.
  • Yes, they have heated bed and big blankets!! and private steam rooms and saunas.
Umm hey neighbor where is this?
@STARMOON44 - it's actually back in Rockland where I used to live. A friend from HS opened it up!

Yikes, that's a lot, but they are darn pretty.  Very, very pretty.

  • I have been trying to post for hours but constantly *distracted*

Officially put a pin in kitchen.
Came back at nearly $12K and she was able to adjust to a different brand/model and lowered it, but M & I really liked the higher end one.
So we just asked to hold off for now. We're figuring out other stuff to do on the house.

We figure if we can pay at least a couple things way down, the kitchen we can do next year and still have minimal financed if necessary.

We considered HELOC, but with other stuff, we'll just finish paying those and that way we can free up more options when financing.

M is doing the baby gate in 3 parts and today he finished part 1. Idk if he was doing another part today or if it's being done tomorrow. Basically the "outer parts" are just stablizers. Middle is the door but he has to measure our other gate for the pet door before he can finish that.

Saturday we have groceries to do. M & BK are coming into the store with me because the one I'm going to isn't busy, so when BK gets tired of being in the cart she can walk around with M safely. She's pretty decent with wearing a mask considering she's just over 2.5 but she won't keep on whole time because .... well 2.5 lol

I've got my exam Thursday, so I'm reviewing things Saturday during nap. M is going to be going thru some stuff to figure out where stuff should go and what can be cleared out basically. Mostly where the gate will be since it's right there.

Sunday would have been my dad's bday so I'm really just anticipating doing nothing
  • @OliveOilsMom what a sweet photo!! Precious 💕
  • @MissKittyDanger do you follow any sort of system for decluttering? I follow spark_joy_london on IG and just love her tips for organization. (I don't do any of them but I like knowing they are there, lol)
  • @missJeanLouise Not directly. Kinda do a mix of my own method and konmari
We'll use a box as example.
I take everything out so I can see it all. Then I start sorting - keep, toss, review.
Keep means I have a reason for use, memory and/or filing
Toss - automatically trash or donation for a reason
Review - I need to really look at it. Paperwork usually goes in this, because I wanna be sure it's nothing I actually need to file and also should I shred it?

When I basically sit M down to go through his stuff, I'm similar but I'm more ruthless on my own stuff, and kinda realize M isn't? When I have him review things, he has to go thru that pile asap or else it will end up back in keep because procrastination

@MissKittyDanger ah, okay. I was just wondering because you talk frequently about decluttering. Do you finish a space before moving on or is it just kind of a little bit here and there?

Eta: asking because our guest room is getting on my nerves.
  • @missJeanLouise depends on my time frame on when I can do it, and stuff in general.
    Because I do both lol
If BK is away, then there's larger time frame available. So I'll do stuff that takes more time. Basement we've been doing bits and pieces but M & I know it's a large tackle.
    Last time BK was away I went through our filing cabinet. I knew it would take longer than anticipated because a lot was cards. I needed time to sort and make decisions on keep or toss {I'm sentimental}

    I can easily go through 4 boxes in 2 hours {BK's nap time}

If it's an overwhelming task, focus on small things. I do a lot of lists, but to make things less overwhelming I break it down into smaller focal items.
Example - need to do the yard. Overwhelming at first glance.
    Break down
    - remove tree
    - sand and gravel to replace stones
    - redo garden edging

    Doesn't seem as daunting
