Bridal Shower/Bachelorette

Do any of you have bridal showers and bachelorettes planned? If so, what will you be doing?

Since I'm having such a small wedding- there are only 11 women invited, and all of them are invited to the shower (family and my closest friends.) My 2 bridesmaids are throwing me an afternoon appetizer/cake shower with some games and gifts in early March. I hate big gatherings, so I love the idea of this- just hanging out with my nearest and dearest, all in one place! And then that same night, us ladies, minus the family, are going to head out and do something for my bachelorette. Not sure if we are going to do dinner and go out to a bar or do a girls night in. I'm more of a homebody, but I would go with whatever they do- I just don't want anyone to spend too much!

EDIT: It's been really hard though because one of my bridesmaids keeps wanting to invite people who aren't invited to the wedding, because she thinks they'd want to be involved in one part. I keep telling her no, sadly, that's just not how it works. I tell ya- small weddings are good in many ways, but so awkward when it comes down to guest lists!

</div><div>Hey!  Yes, bridal shower and bachelorette parties are planned- my MOH rocks.  If I could rent her out, I would.  She really has been an amazing support and planner!</div><div>
</div><div>I am doing a smaller bachelorette party too.  A group of us are going to my parents condo in FL on the beach for a long weekend!  I can't wait to put my butt in the sand and not think about anything (well, almost anything!) </div><div>

</div><div>The shower too is planned, but I don't know much about it!  :)

My shower and bachelorette party will also be the same day. I asked for that to be done on purpose because I have a few bridesmaids that are out of town and I want to save them on the costs of making multiple trips. My mom and sister are throwing me a brunch shower  in March and then at night we are going to a comedy show/dinner and drinks.

Yes, both are planned for me as well! my sisters are great! My shower is Feb 17, they mailed invites today. It is a nice banquet hall, but it doesnt really have that banquet hall feeling..beautiful grounds and it is a seated lunch. I had 50 people on the bridal shower list. My bachelorette party is Maech 23. Its quite large!!! I invited girls that invited me to theirs even though I wasnt in the bparty. We are heading up to the casino wil go to three of the wineries that are less then 10 min from casino then dinner and out at the casino. We are staying over night there :

I actually already had my shower. My sister/MOH lives in Oregon and has a 7 month old so her travel times were extremely limited, but she really wanted to throw me one (we actually had Christmas, her son's baptism, and my shower all during xmas week...it was intense). It was really lovely. About 18 people were able to make it, despite it being during the holidays, and we just had a nice brunch, chatting, a few games, and cake. I loved it.

As for the bachelorette, I'm not really sure what the deal is there. I think we've all discussed aiming for the Thursday before the wedding (getting married on a Sunday) so that a) those travelling in will already be heading to the area and b) we won't be hung over for the rehearsal. But I really don't know if anything's been officially planned yet. I just know that my sister and one of my bridesmaids have booked tickets to be around for that night (and two live in the area, so no problem for them). I've also requested that two of my friends not in the bridal party be invited. I don't want it too big, but they're lifelong, close friends and I wouldn't want to have it without them.

No bridal shower for me but I had my bachelorette party last weekend. My bridesmaids and I went to a drag show and spent NYE with a larger group of friends. Everybody just left yesterday so I'm super excited to have my apartment back to just me and FI.

My bridesmaids are throwing me a bridal shower, don't know when, it's a surprise despite me asking to know the date only so I can make sure I'm off work and look nice, but ah well can't be choosy. I've got about 40 people on the guest list and I'm excited to see what my bridal party comes up with. I think my B party is gonna be the same weekend as my FI so we can kill two birds with one stone, not to mention the six weeks around the wedding are VERY busy between birthdays, other weddings, baby showers and the birth of my FI cousins baby. I think its just gonna be a spa day with my girls and dinner at the melting pot in AC. I'm not a big party person. Can't wait! It's all coming so soon !

Yup, that's why I'm having mine the same day too. I didn't want to go out of town either, because I know all my friends are on budgets, and I just didn't want anyone spending too much money on me lol. I'm most happy having girl nights with pizza and some drinks, a movie and chatting anyway- so I'm hoping we may do that, and maybe some games. I'd be fine with going out though- though I do tend to have anxiety at bars for some reason :/. Oh well. Yay for all the fun wedding stuff starting to happen!!

I am jealous, that sounds like so much fun!

My mother is hosting my shower. It will be February 16th. It is at the same place our reception will be at. There will be about 80 people invited and I am totally dreading it. As for the bachelorette party, I have no clue what we will be doing. My sister, and MOH, is only 19 so I want to do something where she can be there too. It will probably involve dancing somehow.

I am so jealous that so many of you know the details of your showers and b-parties.  Both are a tightly kept secret from me and its driving me nuts.  I want to know, but of course I don't want to know.  It's typical in my family and friends social group for these things to be a surprise for the bride.  I'm so use to being the one planning the surprise and not the one receiving!

luckygirl--my sisters are being tight lipped on details that are going into the shower and b-party....like games, theme, decor etc. bachelorette im sure i they will decorate the room etc but stuff like this i dont know. I wanted to know when my shower was, and they kept where it was a surprise until they sent out the invitations today. My bachelorette I wanted to be involved in the planning (not that i dont trust them or anything...just gave them ideas on what i would want to do!)

I was told that I'm not having any parties because we're having a destination wedding and "it's not even worth it" to invite only a dozen people and have even fewer actually be able to make it.  I get it, but it still makes me sad.  It's kind of a rite of passage for me.  I don't even care about gifts.  I just feel like a shower is part of the whole wedidng process, and I'm going to be missing that piece of the puzzle.

Oh well.  I'll just have to live vicariously through you guys and your parties.

I'm having both, but other than the day they will take place, I don't know very much about them. I handed my guest list off to the MOH, and she's taking care of the rest of it. I did ask her not to spend too much money on the shower--a pot-luck would be great, but I'm pretty low-key on these types of things anyway.

My Bachelorette party is the first weekend in March in Charleston.  We're all staying at one of the bridesmaids' apartments(I think her bf is going to be there and he's kinda weird...).  Other than that, I have no idea what we're doing but there should be 7 of us going :-)

Bridal Shower is in Pittsburgh, FI's mom, sis and grandma are all hosting.  All I know is that it's a bridal tea at their church.  Pretty much the opposite of what I'd do but whatever, it's nice of them to throw.

I'm not looking forward to the shower because I have to pay $400 to get up there and who knows how many people will actually show up but none of them are from "my side" and FI won't even be there b/c he'll be at training in Toronto...boo.  The bachelorette party will be freaking awesome, though.
