Wedding Woes

Wednesday

Work has been good busy the last week and I like it so much more.  My job is very cyclical and i really don't love the low periods - it's pretty excruciating actually.  When we're busy though it reminds me of everything i do like about this job and makes my casual job search feel much less stressful.  I also like my hair again today, so that's fun.

Baby slept 8pm-5:45am last night and I needed it!  I'm sure it was party his 4month shots, but i'll take it :)

I feel like I'm nesting again (not pregnant, omg) but just in major purge and organize mode lately.  It's nice to see some actual progress in our house!

What's everyone else up to?

Re: Wednesday

  • So glad you got some sleep @casadena! Hope it’s not TMI but REALLY hoping your duct is okay!

Finishing up the last week on my team before I transition to the new role on Monday! I can’t wait. My to do list is dwindling and I can’t wait.
  • Saw Six on Broadway last night and it was fabulous. The story of the six wives of Henry the 8th told on their terms, inspired by the queens of pop. Really loved it. Show was slightly delayed because a really drunk woman vomited and they had to escort her out, clean the seats, and reseat her neighbors.
This sounds amazing except for the vomit.

Thanks!!  Seems fine this morning after lots of pumping yesterday, so i'll do that again today and hope for the best :)
  • A friend of mine was at that same performance last night @STARMOON44.  He's been going to a show a week since Broadway reopened.  Small world, ha.

Even though I slept like shit last night, I'm actually in 'get it done' mode. I think I've resolved a payroll issue I've been having.  We'll see if it's true that it will be taken care of by my next check.  If not, I will lose my mind.  I also made an appt for therapy.  I am going to try and get DefConn and me in for flu shots on Monday.  And I'm super hoping I can get him scheduled ASAP for his COVID vaccine as soon as it's fully approved.

DH is struggling still with this shift.  He hates not being home in the evenings. I think his dad's surgery last week and the fact that he can't be there to support his recovery like he wants to is making all this doubly difficult.  Also, he decided to start this job at the start of their peak season.  It's all adding up to him being a little depressed.  I keep reminding him a) we chose this together, b) it's not forever, and c) if after peak season, he's still unsure...he can start looking again.

I do need to get better about structuring my nights.  I'm still at loose ends and feel like I could be more productive.  I'm getting basics done, but I could work on projects I've started and abandoned.

    SSDD otherwise.
  • Guys, i need help finding good basic tops.  I'm not necessarily long and lean, but that's the fit that works best on my body and I am NOT about these short wide odd neckline shirts/sweaters that are very in right now.  I want fitted, crew or vneck, and long enough.  I'm trying a couple from Macy's but any other suggestions?
  • Damn, people are going hard at Broadway huh? ;-)

Leaving work early to take my dog to the vet. Already stressing about it because she HATES the vet and freaks out. Ugh. But my SIL is there so I'm happy I get to see her and her big baby belly!!

SSDD here. It's cold and windy.

I JUST went through this too!

I ordered a bunch of Bella+ Canvas cotton v-necks from cheaptees.com and they’re great. The website looks sketch AF but they were delivered super fast.

Kohl's Apt 9 and Elle branded basic tops are decent, and they carry crew or v-neck.  They wash well and keep their shape.  They also usually run sales on them.

Also, in the last few years I've found that ordering a bunch of stuff online off Amazon or whatever and returning what doesn't work actually nets me the best options for my body.  I sort reviews by my height and weight, which assists me in ordering the correct sizing (or that the brand's sizing won't work for me).
  • Thanks!! I'll try both of those.  I haven't done much clothes shopping on Amazon because it feels overwhelming, but i'll try to really narrow my paramaters and maybe that will help.

My problem with Amazon was that everything for women was either not 100% cotton or was like $25 a piece.
  • Our nursing home main tenant wasn't even remotely able to pull her s**t out of the fire and doesn't even seem to care.  Unfortunately, we didn't file the evictions yesterday because my H didn't realize the court closed at 3PM for that.  We're filing them today.  He had called her yesterday (in addition to the text he sent on Mon. that she ignored), but got her voice mail and left a message.  Instead of calling him back, she texted him back.  A phone call would have been substantially better for all parties because there are a number of things we could have offered to decrease the financial hardship for all of us.  But, over text, there is only so much you can communicate and you can't hear tone.

From what my H told me, she was "surprised" she owed us that much.  KIM, the three 5 Day Pay or Quit notices we posted over a week ago have EXACTLY how much is owed for each unit.  It's a separate notice for each one.  We would have welcomed her contacting us any time over the last 9 days to discuss it, if she was "surprised".  But she didn't do that, probably because she isn't surprised at all.  She shouldn't be.  I don't even know what she was trying to gain by saying that.  It only makes her look so much worse, no matter how you slice it.  Because it paints her as either a liar or an idiot who has no idea what is going on in her business.

My H texted her back with the super basic addition/subtraction math of why her total due is what it is.  He also asked permission that, if the one unit was still vacant, can she release it back to us so we don't have to file for an eviction on it.  No reply back for any of that.

Our small...very small...silver lining is rents have shot up in that area since we first started renting to her.  Once we get the units back, I should be able to raise the rents up by $150/month for each one ($450/month total).

On to my other update, which is better news!  My H figured out what was wrong with the a/c and even did it before the service guy showed up, so we weren't charged any fee.  It was very minor (phew!) and technically wasn't anything wrong with the a/c at all, lol.  The circuit breaker for it had gone bad, so my H replaced it.  Apparently he had already checked that over a week ago.  He wasn't sure why he didn't catch it then, but double-checked that yesterday and...viola...that was exactly the problem.  He's going back out there today to fix up a few other things and take pictures for our ad.  With any luck, I'll be able to post the ad within the next couple days.  Oh!  The stupid window company finally called and said they'll be coming on Nov. 19th to bring the two windows they missed.

To an outside eye, our dog seems okay when she is upset and scared.  But we know her and we can tell.  Her behavior becomes subdued and her eyes look sad.  We're lucky she's always been healthy, so she only goes to the vet once a year for her shots.

I wouldn't think she would remember it but, the last time we took her, she got that sad look in her eyes as we took her out of the car.  The reception desk is right next to the front door.  As soon as we walked inside and went to the desk, she stood on her hind legs at the door and gently clawed at it while making a soft whining sound.  She never does anything like that at our house, even if she wants to go outside or inside.  Poor Izzy!

I hope your puppers is okay and handles her vet visit as much as can be expected.  It's too late for this visit, but here are some calming dog chews I found on Amazon in August.  They have 4/5 stars and thousands of reviews on Amazon.  We have given them to Izzy a few times during storms (including Hurricane Ida, yikes!) and they do seem to help calm her.  They aren't perfect, she will still have some fear.  But her stress levels seem to go way down and she's more settled.

  • Yikes @short+sassy you're right that no matter how you slice it her response only served to discredit her as any kind of businessperson.

It's super windy here today and there are some trees/power lines down.  I wound up driving Chiquito to school because the busses could not get down our road and I found out via email that his bus stop was moved to the end of our street with no notice on WHEN the bus was going to be showing up.  Because the bus lately had a window of about 20 minutes when it could show up I wasn't about to just sit there in my car so off we went!

  • @Casadena glad the pumping helped a bit and totally with you on all the short/cropped tops and sweaters being a thing.
I'm in a crabby mood.  The PM Pediatrics I took DD to yesterday said they couldn't write a note for her to return to school without a Covid test- totally understandable.  But they said they don't have rapids, only PCR or a PCR-Rapid.  Latter wasn't covered by insurance but I'd have results within 12 hours, which meant she could return to school today.  Lo and behold we didn't get the results (obviously negative) until close to noon today.  Test was taken at 3:30 pm yesterday...umm that's a lot closer to 24 hrs than 12.  Just annoyed I paid so much for a rapid result.
Qualm #2 is every year I make these "Make your own monster" kits for my kids to bring their classmates for Halloween.  A lot of kids bring in goodie bags and it's often candy, so I like sending in something non-edible.  I've been doing it since they were in preschool at age 3, but just last year my oldest came home beaming, feeling like a rockstar, her classmates thought they were the coolest thing and she loved handing them out.  All 3 kids asked if I was making them this year and I said of course.  I ordered the mini play-dohs and googly eyes and pipe cleaners and sparkly pom poms from Target and they were supposed to arrive yesterday. I happened to see the "your order has been delivered" from Target like a minute after it came so I texted STBXH and asked him to bring the box in since it was pouring and also since he just sits around all day and is there.  He said it wasn't there (and I don't think he's lying).  So I reached out to tarjay who maintains it was delivered.  I don't think there could've been a porch pirate in one minute's time (no, we don't have a camera).  Target offered to re-send everything by saturday or a refund and I just took the refund, the school's Halloween parties are on Friday, not Monday.  And the refund hasn't even come in yet!  Like wtf?!  And target is usually incredible with delivery.  I'm so bummed on behalf of my kids.  They've had a year so I try to give them little things to be happy about.  *FWP rant over*
  • @climbingsingle I hope the vet visit goes okay!  My rabbit is getting fixed on Friday and I'm already feeling stressed about it.  And she knows .... she knows something is up already.  They pick up on things.

Work is busy, but I had time to more than lurk today, which is nice.  So bright and sunny out today, I just want to ditch work and go for a walk outside.  It has been gloomy and cold, and I had to turn on the furnace a few times this week, but today is amazing.  And hubby decided this week that he would go camping ... I hope it stays warm for him, but I don't think so.  He is going to be out your way, @MissKittyDanger!  Somewhere between Ottawa and Kingston, I don't fully know where.  If I didn't have the dog, I would head out with him.  As it is though ... might be nice to have a weekend alone, and the dog knows where he is gone that she gets to finally sleep on the bed with me, so she will be ecstatic.

  • @kerbohl where abouts? I'm guessing Algonquin Park
  • @MissKittyDanger I don't think it is Algonquin - I think it might actually be a private  campground.  He's worried that it is going to rain so he is planning to sleep in the car.  Sort of defeats the fun of camping in my opinion!

  • @kerbohl I'm now curious what campground lol! When he gets back let me know {if you feel more comfortable, feel free to DM me}
