Wedding Woes

Thursday

I'm so glad I have tomorrow off.

The interview went well, I think.   I was super nervous. My joke is that I've always been a 'bad test-taker'.  I sent TY e-mails this morning.  I got a response from my director.

I slept like shit last night.  I hope I can relax tonight.  DH is off with us tomorrow.

SSDD otherwise.  Prudie coming up here in a minute.

Re: Thursday

  • Dealing with clinic bs. I really love my manager, but sometimes I get so frustrated that she’s an hour plus late every day. Today we have stuff going on she needs to be here for and I need approval for something and her phone is completely off.

Otherwise, SSDD. Hike tonight and I’m super glad tomorrow is Friday. H is visiting his dad for FIL’s bday on Saturday. I feel bad for not going but I told H if we didn’t go on Friday night then I couldn’t go. I need zero socializing this weekend. I’m not even hiking with SIL A over the weekend, and that’s how you know I’m at critical power saving mode.

  • I am in the phase that it's summer and my home is a perpetual mess.

Summer FINALLY hits this weekend so I'm hoping for a nice day of boating Saturday even though Chiquita can't swim.  Stitches come off Monday!

  • How's it going with the kids, @banana468?  I know how the aftermath of that kind of thing can kind of have its ups and downs.
  • Yay, @mrsconn23!  Do you know when you're supposed to hear back?

H took G downtown for chemo today - this is the last appointment in his "good" phase and early July he starts another hard one with lots of steroids on top of the chemo drugs.  H will be out of school for the better part of 8 weeks and in a lot of pain and tired and ragey all the time.  It's so awful and i'm so glad that H will be able to be with him.  There's a week in that phase where we're supposed to give daily shots and were really struggling with how to handle it.  I'm fine with the actual giving of shots but he'll hate us if we have to hold him down and poke him with needles (we'll do it if we have to,but would prefer to be the "comfort" after the shot) so we're exploring home health or involving our peds office (down the street) to just administer.

Finishing up a couple things that have been hanging over my head today and will workout at lunch!

  • I'm in such a blah mood this week. We've had such shitty weather and I'm over it. It finally looks nice this weekend though.

I'm researching flights for our trip out west and I'm happily surprised that flights are not as bad as I thought. Hopefully booking something this weekend.
  • Enjoy your day off with H @mrsconn23

Game night tonight! Looking forward to that. I think there’s a good amount of people signed up for it.  I should probably pick up some taco dip and chips for my contribution.

WFH tomorrow and looking forward to that. I have a busy Saturday and want to catch The Black Phone or Elvis on Sunday.  Probably The Black Phone first because it looks like a movie that’ll stay in theaters a week… maybe a week and a half, while Elvis will outlast that one.

I have an idea of a timeline in my head and I know interviews are finishing up today.  Between it being the end of the quarter, how our pay periods work, and my boss getting really overwhelmed straddling two teams, I'm hoping by early next week with a start date early next month.  But we'll see. My director just sent a generic 'you're welcome and stay tuned' response to my e-mail.

Also, my hair been amazing the last 3 days and I just want someone to know.
    Products! I need product PSA’s!

speaking of PSA’s, everyone should have this towel. It’s big, fluffy, pretty and it dries you off in .03 seconds.  Magic.  I got one in my fabfitfun box and it was worth the subscription price alone ($45/quarter) But I also got some other great stuff in it too!

Have just been washing/conditioning in the shower and then using this leave in spritz.  Putting it up in a microfiber towel while i'm getting ready/running after children.  Taking down right before I leave and finger combing while i'm running out the door.  It's mostly dry by then.  *I do have thick wavy hair but usually when it's short it just gets straight and frizzy, i'm actually getting nice waves right now!

Thanks @Casadena, I need something! I have been using hair thickening shampoo, but noticed it’s been really drying lately so I got some moisturizing one. I use 10 leave in spray, but will try this when it’s up!
edit; also just noticed it’s redken. Love their stuff!

  • Added annoyance with the BIL situation. So BIL & SIL got married September 2020 - small ceremony outside. 90% zoom then driveway visits.
    Postponed honeymoon obv.

SFIL lets it slip they've booked their honeymoon - which is a couple spots in Europe as we knew.
M asks how t.f they can afford that. BIL's been whining about money for so long etc etc.
WELLLLLLL SFIL let it slip they have like 60K in savings.
M didn't flip shit, but basically said to SFIL that right there is proof that BIL has been fkn playing EVERYONE
SFIL is starting to agree with M

    Anyways ....
Saturday we're seeing M's nanny and others, but to be dead fkn honest that's all I care about seeing.
FIL will be there, but honestly BK is gonna look at him and avoid because she doesn't know him.
I damn well hope she freaks out so M can say "she does this with dudes she doesn't know"

    M & I have currently 2 plans
1 - our anniversary weekend is long weekend in August. We haven't done anything in years for it {aside from Covid} so we wanna do a little something. 2020 was our 5yr wedding and 2021 was our 10yr dating lol

    2 - clearing out crap.
We have so much and 90% of our basement is going.
Not until it's gone and we're figured out, but I wanna buy shelves so I can have totes of stuff there - labeled. Like "holiday various" etc
  • Yay for Thursday! I'm missing my SSDD days. My surgery is scheduled for the week of July 4, so I'm running around getting ducks in a row to be out of work and on my ass for a couple of weeks. So that's fun.

My mom and sister both bailed on our July 4th plans and I'm kind of miffed about it. I know I need to suck it up and let it go, but they piss me off with this stuff and it's just compounded right now.

Then H found out this morning that his step mother passed. He's sad, but we knew it was coming. His dad is being a massive jerk, but his dad is always a massive jerk. I'd like to go with him to the funeral, but we don't know when it will be yet and timing is trash.

    I need a drink.
  • @MyNameIsNot I'm very sorry for your loss.
  • I'm so sorry @MyNameIsNot that all sounds really difficult to navigate *hugs*
  • I'm so sorry @MyNameIsNot.  ((hugs))
  • @MyNameIsNot sorry to hear :( and sorry to your H

One of my friends and I were talking about how much life had slowed down in March 2020 b/c of the shutdowns and, if you remove all the negatives of why, we had enjoyed that slowdown so much.
    Remember how good traffic was?

@MissKittyDanger! That’s a lot of money to overlook.  I feel a lot of people I know are llke that. My friend plays the poor card ALL the time and everyone feels sorry for her, so she ends up “not having to bring something” or “the contribution is $48.45 from everyone for that group gift, but you can round down to $45” and the worst is when we all go out and pay cash and three of us overtip while she gets to undertip. Fast forward to 2020 when I helped her close on her condo, and she gave me access to her bank acct for it and I found out she has 4x the amount of money in her savings account than I do! She plays “poor” but she’s not.  She’s the friend I kinda sorta stopped talking to.  That was one reason.
Edit: my math is bad.  Not 4 times more - it’s 8. And that’s just the last time I saw it.

Sorry for your loss @MyNameIsNot.  Is there anyone else you can invite for the 4th if you want to be with people?

@VarunaTT, I’m feeling the same way about my amc card. But to be fair, not many movies to my liking have really come out recently.

  • Thanks, ya'll. I'm ok, just a little tightly wound right now.
  • @CharmedPam From my understanding it wasn't overlooked, it was BIL & SIL didn't wanna touch it.
Literally the more M & I talk about it, the more we get upset.
I mentioned it to my mum and she thinks they have expensive taste - where they live isn't cheap. None of the places they've rented were cheap.
  • @VarunaTT honestly I felt some of the happiest I’ve been in my personal life during the lockdown stage of the pandemic. Yes everything else was a dumpster fire but staying at home all the time was my jam and H and I had so much fun on the weekends playing games and just being dumb together. The holidays were wonderful because we had zero pressure to go anywhere. We slept in, stayed in our PJs and had drinks on Christmas morning with zero side eye. It was great but I feel guilty for admitting that because it was horrible for so many people.

As someone who has given herself over 50K shots lol, I'll try to help.

My insulin shots are very short, thin needles.  They only penetrate a little into the skin and don't go in veins or muscles.  As such, they are usually painless and I barely feel them.  It's a similar sensation to, if you took a sharpened pencil and gently poked your skin with it.

This is what those kind of syringes look like.  You can see how little they are (though the picture is huge, lol):

I'm hoping for G, his shots are also something like that.  He might still be afraid of the needle, but feel better about it when he realizes the shot doesn't hurt at all or much.

However, if they are longer/thicker needles that go into a muscle or vein, those are more painful type of shots.  I don't know what to tell you other than encouraging him to be brave and a reward after the shot is over.

  • @casadena how old is G now? Is he at an age where he would benefit having a “buddy” for the shot? Like a teddy bear who gets a “shot” or who he gives a “shot” to at the same time so they can get it together and he can soothe his “buddy” afterwards? I’m sure you guys are already connected with one, but if his center has a Child Life Specialist they might be a great resource for you too.
