Georgia-Atlanta

Help for a fellow Knottie please!

Hi ladies, I am from the Houston board and was wandering if you guys could help me out. My fiance & I, and another couple are going to be in Atlanta March 12-15 and was looking for things to do/places to see(especially historical), and good/budget friendly places to eat. Any and all recs are appreciated, Thanks!

Hmmm lets see... theres just SO much here.  Altanta has some serious travel times, traffic, delays.  Think Sugarland traffic on a bad day! hehe.  But you can avoid it, if you just plan ahead.

Best thing I could give you is the link to the website we use alot when thinking of what to see or do.

It's hard to be specific unless I knew what area you were going to be in.  I am in North Georgia, for me a trip into the city can be more then an hour drive.

I'm not big into historical stuff so I can't help much with that... maybe Marietta Square or Vinings areas would be nice.

The aquarium is a huge tourist spot, along with the Coke museum.

    History, you say?

How about a nice lunch at "Six Feet Under Pub and Fish House" followed up by a walking tour of "Oakland Cemetery?"

If your in Midtown the Vortex. www.thevortexbarandgrill.com or Tin Lizzys http://www.tinlizzyscantina.com/locations/midtown/ are good and cheap.
I haven't taken a tour of the Fox Theatre but its a beautiful old theatre worth seeing. http://www.foxtheatre.org/ Last suggestion Atlanta History Center http://www.atlantahistorycenter.com/ they have houses you can tour.  I second Oakland Cemetery- if you want to learn a little history of Atlanta.

I love eating at Fado's Irish Pub in atlanta. They have a variety of food! And it's such an awesome place to eat at. Very nice, good prices. Lots of beer if you are into that, music normally is live bands. I love it there!

Hello again ladies! Just wanted to take a break out of going crazy with wedding planning and give you guys a big thanks for the recs.
We were there for Pittcon at the Georgia World Congress Center and stayed at Hotel W Downtown. We did tours of: Coca Cola World, CNN, and Stone Mountain.
As for dining, the whole first day was Hard Rock just because we were unfamiliar with the area. On the way over there(hard rock) we ran into the St. Pattys parade which was fun to watch. We also ate at the hotel and Stats near the aquarium.
I had a great time there and hope to go back soon! Thanks!

P.s. The daffodils on the sides of the highway were amazing to me since the ones we have here are potted.
