His ring!!

No clue where ring talks go in the forum so I figured ceremony since that is where you bust em out so yah...anyways!

Ordered his ring today!! After much searching found the perfect ring! There were literally no rings here I liked and the warranties were awful and since we won't be living in Guam forever we decided to go online. Here's the pic - so excited! :)

Did you ladies pick out his ring by yourself or together?

Re: His ring!!

  • He picked it out.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • He picked out and paid for his ring.  I picked out and paid for my own ring.

I have never heard of this "bride picks groom's ring" thing before the Knot and I still can't wrap my head around it.

  • He picked out his ring, but I will be buying it for him.

Joy, I'm with you. Before TK I hadn't heard of bride's picking out his ring. Nor had I heard of grooms buying their own rings and brides buying theirs. I guess I still think that since I will be putting the ring on my FH's finger, it's my responsibility to buy his "gift".
  • FI is going to be wearing his late grandfather's ring, so nothing for me to pick out there, but yeah, he basically let me pick out what I wanted for mine. Didn't want to get me something I didn't like since I would be the one wearing it every day!

I really like the design on your FI's ring, though. I'm sure he'll love it :)

  • He picked out both of his rings.  One had diamonds and the other is a plain $10 band.

  • He picked it out, he had something specific in mind that he wanted. It took us a while to find it too, but we did. My only request that his band not be the same as the one from his first marriage.
  • FI couldn't find anything that he really liked so he sketched his ideal ring on paper and I sent it out to a designer so it's being made for him. I picked my wedding band out of the clearance section.
  • Hey that's snazzy! Grats!

  • I basically had to email FI ring pictures until I got a feel for what he wanted.  Then I emailed him a bunch of pics of those types of rings before he finally found one he really liked.  And then we had to figure out size, finish and stone type.  He ended up with this:

  • He picked his own ring.
  • He picked his own, after researching the various metal options. FI is choosy and I wanted to make sure he loved it. I did pay for it, but that was more a function of our budgeting system than a gift or anything. I do love the one that you picked out though!
  • We shopped for ours together.  I wanted my ring to go well with my engagement ring (which was my grandmother's), and we also wanted our rings to go well with each other.  We went to a lot of places, and found the perfect rings at the same place.  FI LOVES his ring, and I couldn't be happier with what I found for me!  We already have a joint account, so we paid for them together.

  • FI picked his own ring and I paid. He choose my engagement ring on his own, and it has a matching band that he'll be purchasing soon.
  • We both picked them out together and paid for them together.
  • We each picked out our own rings and paid for them with our joint account.  I wanted my DH to pick out something he liked and would be comfortable wearing.  No surprises!

I was also thinking of getting a cheaper second one for him! He is military and I want him to have one he could bang up too. Does your DH wear them both?
