Good vibes needed: Outfit nightmare

My boyfriend is going to a wedding of a VERY close family friend (they are like brothers). The bride to be just got her custom-designed outfit from India (she had a vision in mind of what it would look like, she helped design it) and it is NOT what she wants. At all. And the wedding is a month away!

Let's send some good vibes to her...and hope we are never in this situation ourselves!

OMG!!!  Good knottie vibes to your friend.  That is terrible, I hope she can figure something out in a month, or buy something else.  Are they getting married in London, she should be able to replace the outfit, although its hard to have a perfect dress in your mind and not see the same reality is disappointing.

Yeah, their wedding is in London. I really want to go and maybe I still will go...I LOVE weddings. He has like, four to go to this summer alone!

I am really hoping she finds something else or they can make the outfit better. That is one of my worst nightmares and a big reason why I am not sure I would want to do that.

I love wedding marathons!!!  You should go if you can.

With custom made outfits, I think you sould give yourself a lot of time, so if stuff like this happened it can be fixed.  At least she has a month, instead of a week or less in which she probably won't be able to do anything.

Also, with custom designs, you have to know your designers so much more, and see that they see the same design as you are envisioning, and you have to give some leeways because reality will sometime be a little less perfect than the imagination.  Also, not being in the same country as them has its downfalls too.  That is one of my fears, I want to use a designer who is based in London, but at the most I will be able to make two trips to see her.

Yeah. I saw one outfit on Maharani weddings that I really liked. I think my Mom would like to see me in more white and if I had red, which I will, I don't want it to be bright red. I want a darker, richer shade. BF would like to see me decked out traditionally, or as traditional as I will go. But, we both fell in love with this outfit...What do you think? Maybe something around these lines.

I love that outfit!!!  I think its a nice compromise, having a little more red and you can both be happy with the result.  I am doing the opposite, I want my outfit to be mostly red, but cream (like your pic)  as an accent and work done on the it in gold.

Oh no! That is so horrible! I hope she can find another outfit soon. I've heard of nightmares like this happening. I will keep my fingers crossed for her!

But I LOVE that sari/panetar, Sonali! I wish I had seen it before I went to India. I did end up getting something pretty traditional though, even though one shop told me that what I wanted was "out of style" and old fashioned and kicked an attitude. Well, being from NJ, I kicked it right back, haha!

So I went to another store and bought a rajwadi style panetar. It's a ivory color with a bhandini border that is embriodered. I am probably not describing very well. We also had a matching sherwani made for FI. I was nervous about that, but it came out nice and simple like I wanted!

    OMG Sonali
I wish the best to her! its a bad situation to be in I feel her pain...I really hope she finds a replacement.
My sis had the same nightmare, she had the outfit made within a wk in India, she was there for 3 wks when it came she saw it and freaked out and started bawling and said it was all wrong, the color down to the design..my dad had already paid $2000 for it, she didnt want it ..she broke down in the dresssing room. So she calmed down I told her just relax and tell me what you want we will work on that let the past be done with. Sitting in the fitting room..in the back which was also a huge stock room she saw a really blingy outfit she said I want that it was a lifesaver and the outfit was amazing!! She looked absolutely out of this world in it...it was so heavy we had to carry it in a separate bag from india and she had to get support put inside to hold the lehnga up. But she looked amazing on her wedding day! I helped her pick the reception outfit which was amazing too! I loved doing all that.. I am attaching her lehnga pics from ceremony and reception this was back in '07 (ah the memories)

I really recommend going onto ebay UK where she can get a used bridal lengha for an extremely low price.  It will be an expensive lengha though.  And while she is there she can put her's for sale too and someone else may like it very much.
