Matching flower girl

If my dress is ivory, does my flower girl need to have ivory as well? Or would it be fine if she was in white?

I would definitely avoid the white, it will make your dress look less vibrant.  I'd also make sure that the linens at the reception aren't white either.  You want to make sure your dress stands out.

My dress is ivory and we're getting ivory flower girl dresses for the reason above.  It didn't quite look right when we put a white dress up against mine.

Also another option may be to go with the same color as bridesmaids dresses, or same color family, for the flower girl. My bridesmaids are in royal purple, flower girl's dress is lavender. You don't have to pick white or ivory.
