XP: Would you eat this dessert? (only somewhat wedding related)

Would you eat a cheesecake (or cupcake, brownie, cream puff, cookie, etc.) if you were told it was Vegan?  (this assumes you're not vegan yourself... and that you'd eat the item if it was not vegan - if you don't like cheesecake/brownie/cookie,etc. anyway you probably wouldn't want to eat it regardless :P)

I've had vegan cupcakes before... and they were really good.  They were ridiculously crumbly, so a bit messy to eat, but pretty tasty.

I've never had them, but I'd give it a whirl.

We got vegan cookies/brownies delivered to our office before when i worked at a different place, and it was all just not good,so I put no, but only because I've tried it.

FI and I are not vegan and thought the cheesecake was really good (he thougth the crust was a little "off" but said, you could just as well have "regular" food and it's a little off to you too).  Maybe I'll get some treats from this place and bring them to the office or family gathering or something and see what other people think of how they taste.  They're quite expensive, so I am hesitant to splurge on them for the wedding if word gets out (not like i'm goign to announce it, but these things spread) and then people think "oh they're tofu cookies" and don't touch them.

Do you have a lot of vegans coming to the wedding?

No, some vegetarians, and a few folks like me who can't do lactose/dairy well.  I'm having a regular wedding cake.  I had planned to supplement the cake with additional treats - pies, cookies, etc. I saw this bakery though and thought OMG I can have cheesecake at my wedding and not get sick afterwards!  And I don't mind to spend a little more to support the place and have tasty treats.  But part of the point is to share it with others, if no one would want to eat it, i'd just go get my own cheesecake lol

For lactose-intolerant and lactose sensitive people... this is a pretty genius idea.

I made a non dairy cheese cake for Christmas dinner. It was delicious! I used Tofutti Better Than Creamcheese.

There's a place in Center City called Sweet Freedom, and all of their desserts (and non-dessrty things, like Tomato pie) are vegan, gluten free, soy free, dairy free, and pretty much everything else you can thing of "free".  And their stuff is AMAZING.  I started going there to get dessert that I can bring to my FMIL's because she has to eat gluten free, but now I go there all the time for treats for myself!  A "cream" stuffed cookie sandwich and donut somehow feel so much better for you when they're from there!

Also check out Whole Foods.  I know they do vegan desserts, and you would probably get them much cheaper than a bakery.

a.lemma - that sounds awesome!  i'm not much of a baker so i'm always afraid to bake my own maybe i'll give it a go tho!
