October 2011 Weddings

Color help

Our wedding is on 10/26/12 in Bedford, New Hampshire.

Any ideas for colors?  I am thinking brown (but don't know what shade)
Yellow flowers for my girls, yellow and white flowers for me, but I think I probably need one more color.  I'd love to incorporate the white birch tree trunks into my centerpieces... any ideas colors that would go with that theme?

Re: Color help

  • You should probably put this up on the Oct 2012 board: http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-club-boards_october-2012-weddings

...unless you were looking for the voices of experience? :) I think a dark, rich chocolate brown would look nice with that color scheme, FWIW.

I think really you could do just about any color with yellow and brown. Red or orange would incorporate the fall season, if you wanted to go that route. (Personally, I like orange since that was one of our main wedding colors. :-D)

Blue or green would also be very pretty if you weren't wanting a fall theme.

Honestly, though, I really think you could go just about any color route that you wanted. Find a site that lets you make your own color pallets and just play around with it until you find something you like. Good luck!

ETA: Also, if you don't want a third color, just brown and yellow would look great together. Chocolate brown as Leaping suggested, would be lovely.

  • I think a rich/ dark brown color would be nice with a yellow. You could just do those two colors and be fine. Or add in whites/ ivorys to go with the birch. Could also do an orange. We had pops of orange and blue for our wedding. I agree you should play around with it. Go to walmart or a home improvement store and find colors you like. Browns, yellows, etc. and take those paint chips home with you to play around with. Maybe that would help you decide what color combo you like.

  • Thanks for everyones help... Great ideas!

Sorry I guess I put this in the wrong forum.  I didn't realize it was in Oct 2011, it was meant for Oct 2012.

Either way you have all been very helpful.  I am off to get paint chips on my lunch break!

  • Red would be really amazing against the white birch. Or maybe a fern green or burnt orange to be a little less dramatic.
  • maybe:
    light gray
    robins egg blue
    crimson red
