band suggestions and costs

Hi ladies - I'm trying to think through my budget and am REALLY wanting a New Orleans Band. I'd prefer a band that played more old school hip hop (Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, etc.) that was also able to play more updated hip hop and r&b.

Any suggestions? Any idea what this would cost?

I'm thinking around 3K but am I way under.

We used After 8 and they were fantastic! The guitar and sax player also played for the processional and recessional during our wedding ceremony....check out their song list, it seems to be in line with what you are looking for. http://www.after8music.com/ I can't remember exactly what we paid, I think it was around $3,300, and it was about the same as everyone else was charging.

We are using the boogiemen and they were in a similar price range. I think most bands will be in the $3000-$4000 range. I would also check out groovy 7, bucktown allstars...I'll keep thinking for you.

Ekk... groovy 7 and bucktown both quoted us > 4000

I think most bands are running ~4000, unfortunately.

We also booked After 8! Saw them in person, and they were great!

No Idea (careful... there are some shaky reviews about them on this board about cancelling last-minute or double-booking. But I saw them in person at a friend's wedding and they seemed fantastic, and she had no complaints.)

we had the topcats which were AMAZING and the hit of the party but the price is $5600. At least that is what they were a year ago. Happy planning!

You may want to contact Cresent City Soul. Wendy was amazing and sent out a blast for us to all the local bands. I bet she would reccommend some in your budget and even send a blast so that they'd email you if they are available.<ccsband@cox.net>
