    My husband has both an engagement ring and a wedding band. He doesn't always wear the engagement ring, but when he does, he wears it on his right hand, and I also wear my engagement ring on my right hand.

    Honestly, an engagement shouldn't be a secret. If you want to wait for a ring to announce you are engaged then wait for a ring to consider your self engaged (but you CAN be engaged with out a ring, it is just silly to keep it a secret). This is a clear example of regarding how you can't have your cake and eat it too.

    This annoys me. You're either engaged or you aren't. Please people. Stop using the "officially" engaged line. If you're engaged and just waiting on the ring, well guess what...you're OFFICIALLY engaged, with or without the ring.

    You could also move your engagement ring to your right hand or use your engagement ring in place of a wedding band.

    Um, are you engaged? Baby or not, you shouldn't be wedding planning unless you and he both consider yourselves engaged (ring or no ring).

    I was engaged for over a month before I had my ring. It's just a ring. You can tell people you're engaged.

    Either way is fine. At DDs wedding, the priest took both wedding rings and her engagement ring, blessed them then SIL put the engagement ring and wedding ring on her finger together. She had been wearing the engagement ring on her left finger up to that point. I wore my e ring on my right hand then put it on my left hand…

    I also think it's worth noting here that this is only data from the Jewelry Industry. It doesn't (I'm guessing) take into account heirloom engagement rings, engagement rings purchased at non-jeweler stores, or no ring at all - a couple just deciding they want to get married without the material aspect of an engagement…
