In November I made arrangements with my DJ for him to do the ceremony and reception for my wedding. he is going to charge $500 for both ceremony and reception for the whole night. the only problem is i can't get ahold of him to discuss a contract or a deposit. everytime i email him about getting together and going over details he seems to ignore me. I strongly believe that without a written agreement you have no vender, but this deal is too good to pass up. i'll have a hard time finding anyone else in my area without paying for 2.5 hours of travel. i'm starting to get nervous. how can i get my DJ on the same page? or should i start looking for another one?

You should look for another one. If this is how he is now when you're trying to book him, how will he be once he's already booked? You don't want to deal with a missing DJ on your wedding day.

You should look for another one. Sorry; I know this sounds like a great deal, but the discount is not worth the risk of hiring someone who appears to be completely unreliable. As PP said, this is the sort of person who you can't be sure will even show up. Remember, a contract can't make them show up; it just means you can sue them if they don't. Then you're out a DJ at your wedding AND legal fees. Don't book someone proven to be unreliable.
