I've only been doing the weight watchers online program for about 3 weeks now.  I lost 7 pounds in the first 2 weeks and I stayed the same the third week (I went over my points for that week but did get some exercise in).   I've been stress eating lately and I tend to eat more when I'm bored.  Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with stress eating and boredom eating?  I seriously ate a whole bag of hershey kisses in my 3rd week because I was depressed and stressed out.  I need to be stopped!  But chocolate makes me feel better :(  Temporarily

This is going to sound cruel -- and I really don't mean for it to -- but there's nothing that can make you stop besides yourself!  When I get munchie -- I always remind myself that it's more important for me to lose weight and look/feel better than that temporary fix.

Also -- there is a list of items that says "if you're craving this, eat that" -- I saw the list on pinterest...but I'm sure you could google that list!

I'm also doing ww online -- have you looked into the recipes?  Keep it interesting -- let yourself munch -- but find low cal items -- or zero point items...and of course fruit and veggies...keep them "in stock" at your home!  They have WONDERFUL cupcake brownie's that are only 2 points!!!!  They're not as good as the real thing -- but still pretty darn good!!!  Eat dark chocolate instead of hershey kisses!  Another friend of mine eat york peppermint patties -- you just can't/don't want to eat as many!  Don't even purchase the kisses!!!

I'm also doing WW Online and agree with PP.

Personally, I find that tracking everything I put into my mouth helps with the mindless eating. I'll think to myself, I don't want to waste points on chocolate or chips, etc., so I try to find a zero points food or drink some water.

Also, exercising has helped a lot. I used to come home from work, rip open a bag of chips, and plop on the couch for the rest of the evening. Now, I get home, put on my workout clothes, and exercise for at least 40 minutes. By then, my mind has been taking off of snacking and all I want is a big glass of water and a shower. This has become a routine for me for the past month and a half and now I feel off if I don't complete my workout.

I think the bottom line is will power. I was always making excuses--"oh, I deserve some chocolate," or "I had a bad day, so I'm going to get Wendy's for dinner." Now I fight really hard to make sure I'm making good choices. I even make sure I don't have unhealthy foods in the house so I'm not even tempted.

I've been able to make some changes and stop lying to myself. It's hard, and not every day is a total success, but I've found that even if I eat too much, I know that it's not going to ruin my day/life. Having a positive attitude has been my most valuable asset in the start of my healthy life journey. Hope this helps you in some way & best of luck!

You need to do find something else to do when you are stressed and bored. Go for a walk, go to the gym. As PP said, the only thing that can make you stop the mindless eating is you!

  Don't even purchase the kisses!!!

This is great advice. You can't eat what isn't available to you. Don't buy these things.
My favorite snacking foods: sunflower seeds (in the shell...keeps my mouth busy) and popcorn.

Ditto PPs.

My meeting leader told us something I've been trying to tell myself: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels."

I kind of like it, because it reminds me, hey, I want to look nice on my wedding day, so let me not screw up all the hard work I have accomplished. When I am tempted by those Hershey kisses, I just tell myself this and I stop, because the feeling of compliments, smaller clothes fitting, and just feeling better about myself/appearance/health is more rewarding than the temporary satisfaction of some chocolate.

Of course I treat myself and use my weekly points, but once they're up, they're up.

One of my favorite WW sayings is "If you bite it, write it." It really makes you stop and think about what you're putting in your mouth!

Don't buy Hershey's kisses, is really the best advice.  If you don't have unhealthy things in your house to snack on, you won't snack on them.

It's okay to do "replacement snacks," like PPs have said, but really you should only do that to wean yourself off of stress eating altogether- it's a long-time, habit-forming thing that you have to do, which is get yourself to a point where you eat when you're hungry, and not for any other reason.  I know one thing that worked for me was switching to sugarfree gum as something to do when I got bored or stressed- in college I did a lot of compulsive gum-chewing around exam times, but I didn't stress eat.

Also, if you can, try to never eat in front of a screen (TV or computer) if you can help it- focusing just on your food instead of multitasking typically makes you eat less.

And as for the boredom, find stuff other than food to distract you!  Find a project that interests you!

When I want a snack, I go to the fridge and take out a bottle of water and chug it....I fill up and that helps me forget I wanted a snack...

Get naked, sit in front of a mirror, and then eat your chocolate kisses! Cool
fiancee = vag ** fiance = peen ** Babies shouldn't be born with jobs ** **They're called first loves for a reason -- more are supposed to come after. You don't get a medal for marrying your prom date. Unless you're imoan. Then you get an all-expenses paid cruise to the Mediterranean and you get to meet Jared Padalecki on the flight over while wearing your jammies. But still no medal. **

I am on WW and do the same thing! I just started back and this is my 3rd week. I recently learned about the Yonana machine at a meeting and it is AMAZING. I love fruit but get really sick of it. This thing takes bananas and other frozen fruit and turns it into the consistency of frozen yougart. The best is thing is that its 0 points because its straight fruit. I make up a bunch and keep it in the freezer. Good luck and stick with it :)

If you're craving chocolate, make some sugar-free chocolate pudding!!  I dip strawberries in it and it's like eating a real chocolate covered strawberry, except it is waaaay better for you!

Thanks so much for all your advice!  I've been doing better with the stress eating and I started doing a step aerobics dvd at home.  I told my fiance that if he wants junk food he has to buy it himself and make sure I don't see it. I think that's been the  hardest part because he loves his cookies and candy and chips!  I also found some low point weight watchers snacks and ice cream for when I have those cravings.  I think I've lost about 13 pounds in 2 1/2 months which isn't bad. And I did find the "if you're craving this.. have this.." http://healthwellness808.com/?p=1180 which is also helpful.  Thanks for all you're help and support!
