Dana's Side of The Story... www.mywedding.com/calebanddana/images/007.JPG" alt="Dana's Side of The Story..." /> I vaguely remember every single time that my path crossed Caleb’s over the last five years, and it’s so interesting that I remember feeling drawn to him. At the very least, I was always curious about him. Through our dear friends, Shannon and Merle, we hung out socially yet it was sporadic, we officially met five years ago yet I only knew him as “the cute one with glasses.” It had been a long time since I had seen him, since I was disconnected and focused on graduate school, until their son Ryder’s 1st birthday party. His friends were talking about his band’s first show in Littleton, and I remembering marking that date in my brain. Apparently at this point, Caleb was outside getting the pep talk to ask me out, but he didn't on this day. Something made me remember that date, and something made me want to go to the show that night. And, so I did. The first time we really connected was at The Old Mill. We had time to talk that night after his set, and later he asked me to go out sometime. Our first date was on February 28th, at Dazzle Jazz Club, downtown Denver. He picked me up outside of my loft in the city, and we went into the performance room, where the etiquette is to quietly listen. We probably said to each other ten times, as we tried to have conversation, “I just want to talk to you.” So we finished our meals and heading where it was not so formal. It was the easiest thing I have ever felt. I picked next, and took him to Altitude, a bar/restaurant which overlooks the city of Denver. We sipped a drink, and we talked and talked, it was easy and at times silly, we talked spirituality, our upbringings, our families, having kids, our goals in life. We talked about everything until the lights were turned on at 2a.m. and the bar was closing. Time flew. We kissed on the street, 17th and Stout, and said goodnight, and then we ended up talking on the phone during his entire car ride home. From there it was a series of dates, cooking at my place, having sushi, oh and the guitar (melt). Caleb played and sung, and a month later was singing and playing songs he wrote for me. Before we knew it, it was time to leave to go to California. I promised him I would wait. I knew I would, and there was nothing else in my life that I had ever been more positive about. So began our 7 months of phone conversations, writing in journals, writing and playing music over the phone, visiting one another, and getting to know one another on a lot of levels, building our foundation for our life together. Since then, we have bought a beautiful house, and created our life in Colorado together. It was easy, felt natural, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. When I think about Caleb, I think about marrying my best friend. I am grateful for my journey to Colorado, and my windy path that lead me straight to him.
