  • " Do you have any idea how big our kids would be?!"
    That's the first thing I remember my fiance, Jimmy, then just a fellow camp counselor, saying to me.  Now, my first thought aside from "who does this guy think he is??" was "they would be pretty big!" seeing as we are both over 6 ft tall.  As silly as this may sound, that was the 1st sign that he was the one, however, it took me a year and my rejecting him for me to realize what a dummy I was and to fall for him like no person I had ever fallen for before... He literally is everything I had dreamed of but never thought I would or could find.  Now that I think of it, the second I stopped looking was the moment I was blessed with meeting him!
    He LOVES kids.  We met at a YMCA summer camp and we continue to volunteer every summer!
    He whole heartedly accepts me for who I am, yet inspires me to be SO much more
    He knows when to stop at the store and buy chocolate chips so we can make cookies because he can tell I'm just having "one of those days"
    There's a million tidbits about Jimmy that make him my own unique soulmate but these are just the tippy top of our iceberg we call "life".  There's a whole chunk I haven't even seen yet and I am beyond excited to explore the waters with my ROCK by my side.

    Thank you for opportunities like this!  Our first concert was a Train show at the House of Blues in Anaheim so getting another opportunity to perhaps add this moment to our memories is unreal!

  • My fiance is the one because he made me believe in love. I met my future husband at my brother's wedding. I walked into the church doors, turned to the left and there he was. He is an Air Force pilot living in Oklahoma and I was from North Carolina. I knew after the weekend, he was going to be the man I was going to marry because I never felt that way. We survived a year of long distance relationship and now live together happy stationed at McGuire Air Force Base. He continues to teach me how to never take our love or time together for granted. I'm so proud of him. I fall more in love with him daily and respect him; he is "the one".

     Aaron and I first met on a college film called "The Gremlin" written and directed by his brother 5 years ago. A very unusual experience, but nonetheless, we were cast as the leads that survive a spooky forest creature. In the movie we were supposed to fall in love. Life imitated art. Here's how he proposed.   Earlier in the week Aaron had asked if I wanted to get dinner w/ his parents on Saturday because I didn’t see them on Easter and/or Mother’s Day. I said sure, why not. Prior to this, he mentioned earlier in the week that Justin and him wanted to go back into the woods where we filmed The Gremlin (five years ago). So when Friday rolled around, he asked if I wanted to go see the woods? I said, sure. I had my suspicions at this point, but kept them to myself. So, on Saturday afternoon we drove to Springfield, and Aaron took me to where we first met, the woods where we shot The Gremlin. We were walking around to all the different areas of the woods reminiscing about making that silly movie. When we got to the spot where Aaron and I first met (officially) and where we had our first “scene” together, he grabbed both of my hands and said (from what I remember, I was crying by this point) “Dana, I thank God that we made that silly movie, cause it brought you to me. I fell in love with you in these woods. I cannot imagine the rest of my life without you. So, (gets down on one knee) Dana Marie Jackson aka Becky Stromboli (name in movie) will you marry me. ” I mumbled Yes, and cleared my throat, and then said Yes again! He proceeded to put the ring on my right hand, and I awkwardly put my left in front of him. He said “oh! That was my left.. I am a little nervous. ”   (His speech was much longer and more sincere, but of course I can’t remember)   After that I called my mom right away, and she didn’t answer. We agreed to sit on the news for a little while in front of his parents, so while we were chatting at his parents’ house, my Mom, her husband Bob, Justin (Aaron's brother & filmmaker) & Buford (our English bulldog pup) come walking in to surprise me. At this point Aaron’s Mom & Dad are a bit confused and she turned around and I put the ring on. She burst into tears. It was a wonderful, hectic & memorable few moments. Apparently, Aaron had called my Mom on Wednesday to ask her for her “blessing, ” they chatted for a awhile. After telling him, “if you hurt her, I will kill you” she then proceeded to say welcome him to the family. It’s always nice to hear that your family “approves. ”   So there you have it, after 5 years Aaron and I have had an amazing journey. We conquered long distance, joblessness, family upset, and other minor trials and tribulations, and we ended up stronger, happier and extremely grounded. And most importantly, at the end of every single day, I can’t imagine my world without him in it.
  • My side:
    I met my fiancé Richard, in November of 2009, on MySpace. I only joined because I had a friend who had an account and said I should join.

     I wasn’t looking for a relationship, only to find friends and play games. That is when I met Richard.

    We were playing the same game. When I had seen his picture there was something that drew me to him, so I sent him a friend request. He accepted. Before long we were chatting. He had some poetry, which he had written, on his MySpace page and I commented on how I liked them. He told me that maybe he would write one for me. I was shocked because no one had ever written anything for me.  Pretty soon he was writing me poetry every day and since I’m no poet, but love music, I would send him songs (which included songs by Train).

    When we talked, we talked about everything from our childhood to our kids. We are from two different worlds, him from the city of Detroit and me from a small town in the middle of Kansas.  We had a connection right from the start though. We would have the same thoughts and finish each other’s sentences. It’s like we read each other’s minds.  My friends who were concerned at first say how perfect we are together.

    Then one day Richard told me he loved me. I didn’t know what to say. I knew I had strong feelings for him but wasn’t sure it was love.  Before long I knew it had to be love.  In March of 2010 Richard drove 1000 miles to meet me in person. I was so nervous but as soon as he walked in the door I knew he was the “One”. As soon as he left, I started planning my trip to Michigan. It was the first time I ever went anywhere by myself and my first time flying.

    While in Detroit, Richard surprised me with a poem. It was a marriage proposal. I of course said yes.

    Richard is the sweetest, kindest, most loving man. Every day he makes me laugh. He is everything I have ever wanted in a man. He helps with everything from dealing with kids to doing the laundry or dishes. He has accepted me for who I am and I have accepted him.

    We are getting married on July 23, 2011. It will be the second marriage for both of us. I have never loved anyone as much as I love him. I am happier than I have ever been and I can’t wait to marry him.

    His side:

    Me and my fiancee met one night on a myspace app.. i knew from the first time i saw her, there was something very special about her... we became friends and we started talking every night... i would write her poetry every day for a year... til we both fell in love with each other... so i decided to drive the 1000 miles to Kansas from Michigan to find out for sure if she was "The One", when we met, i knew it was true love... so 3 months later i moved to Kansas to be with her forever.... I can say i have never truely loved another woman as much as her... and we don't have lots of money so we decided to get married july 23rd 2011 and take a honeymoon next year, after we save up... but as long as i'm with her... everyday is a honeymoon to me... and so you know... i still write her poetry.. i wrote this one today for her...

    FOREVER..... ♥

    Our time together,
    upon this land,
    forever walking,
    hand in hand;

    two hearts beating,
    under the sun,
    our dreams combining,
    we merge as one;

    we wisper words,
    our love so true,
    we proclaim our love,
    in front of all of you......♥
