I am planning a wedding for March 17, 2012.

Our colors are green and white to go along with St. Patrick's Day.

I'm looking for any advice or ideas.

One thing I'm worried about is guests thinking they need to wear green... any solutions?

First, unless you are wanting it to be a St. Patrick's Day THEMED wedding then I suggest go with lighter shades of green. Maybe play up the white in the invitation and just use a green for the font will drive the point home. Not including shamrocks and the "Kelly Green" color in your invitations is one way to indicate that it's not a St. Paddy's day thing. Also, you can let people know via word of mouth (like you would do with registry info) that wearing green is not a requirement/desire.

I am getting married on St. Patrick's Day 2012 as well.  I am incorporating deep purple into the color scheme to avoid the green/white/orange "Irish" theme.  There will be love knots with light green font on the invites, the bouquets and attire will incorporate the eggplant purple color I have chosen (rather than green).  However, to incorporate the holiday and FI's heritage (without having shamrocks, lephrecans etc...) we are having an Irish Wedding Blessing read during the ceremony and my three young children will ring the Irish wedding bells at the end.  Also, I will have a horseshoe in my bouquet.  Right now we are working on a way to serve Irish staple foods without servinging a boiled dinner.  ;)

I'm getting married on St. Patrick's day too!! I'm not doing the traditional green and white St. Patty's day colors-- instead I'm doing yellow, gray, and white. The only thing I'm allowing to be green at my wedding is the beer-- we're putting food coloring into the keg to make it green! Oh, and i told the guys they could wear green socks! lol.
