Friday Chat

Morning ladies, happy Friday!

I'm going to try really hard not to be a total Debbie Downer today. I woke up really sad and cried a bit before I came into work. But I had a free drink at Starbucks so yay for a venti PSL to start the morning :)

My weekend will consist of a Devils game tonight and then finishing up the last of packing that needs to be done. The Eagles game will be on TV Sunday so I'll probably just stay home and watch instead of going out for it.

Blahhhhhhhhhhhh I just really, really, REALLY want good news today.

@Swazzle - no news, except no closing today?  I'm so sorry.  have you heard about Starbuck's new drink coming out in November??  Chestnut Praline, yum.

I'm only at work until 11:00 AM.  going to do my PIYO workout, clean, and study until dinner.  H made us some dinner reservations.  I think I know where we're going, but I'm not for sure.

and tonight is our groceries night.  that's about it!

@Swazzle - I hope everything turns around for you and you get awesome news (like the bank agreed to take $20,000 less than you offered).

    ***

We still have not unpacked 100% from our "Disney-moon"; I have like 17 hours of TV to watch (that's my shows not including shows I watch with H).

Tomorrow my SIL is hosting a thirty-one party, so I have to go to that.  I need to pick up my prescription from the pharmacy and we wanted to go and get a bunch of USB drives to put our wedding pictures on for our families/guests that have requested them.

Sunday Browns game, other than that, pack up/clean up.

I had a dream last night I found out I was pregnant.  I think it's because my coworker was teasing me about it yesterday (because the night before, I dreamed that we got a new puppy, and I was really thungry that day, so she was hinting I was pregnant) plus @AlPacino's scare.  but, alas (ha), I can not be pregnant.  I guess my sub-conscious doesn't realize that and gave me some crazy dreams last night!!

@hummingbird125 - Thank you <3 I hope you get your phone and STDs today!!!

@cocobellaf - Pretty much, that's all I know. The seller is trying to work something out with the bank and our realtor is hopeful that they'll be able to come to an agreement and we'll close eventually. We just have no idea when (or if that'll be the case at all).

@dignity100 - Thanks! That would be phenomenal.

@Swazzle - :( That is how I feel for you right now.  Hugs.

@CoCoBellaF - I think a pregnancy dream would make me go out and buy a test. Practice makes perfect.  :)

    ------------------------------------

I woke up feeling slightly better so cold is on its way out. Does anyone else gain weight with a cold though?  I'm terrified to weigh myself because I feel all bloaty.

H and I went to Lumber Liquidators yesterday to buy our wood floor.  I'm feeling like the quality isn't the best there though (Bellawood seemed nice enough but the planks didn't come in the size we need). So Home Depot tonight we go....again...we could live there at this point they know us so well.

Saturday we are hopefully putting down said flooring since our cabinets are coming in two weeks and Sunday the trick-or-treaters will be out so I'll be handing out candy (and eating some I'm sure...which I don't need to do...but I will).

@swazzle, you're still in my thoughts.

I've been reviewing a manuscript all week, and it's been a slog. My goal is to get through it by the end of the day. It took me a week to get through less than half of it. It's good to have unachievable goals. One of the student organizations also invited an industry rep in today, so I'm going to go meet with him as well.

And pray that FI both has become a human being (he's been really freaking argumentative for the last two days) and found motivation to do stuff around the house.

@CoCoBellaF that Chesnut Praline drink sounds amazing

I bought pumpkin pecan waffle hand sanitizer from bath and body works, it smells soooooo good.  Everyone keeps asking who has waffles :)

I don't have any plans for tonight or tomorrow, probably just do laundry and pack some more.  Sunday I'm getting my hair done.  I have no idea what I'm getting done so have to figure that out.  Then leaving for our mini trip :) so excited to drink all the wine and eat all the food :)

@swazzle - :-( Sending you ALLLLLL the good vibes.

I'm super excited about this weekend, because after lunch we're headed to go see my sister, BIL, and nephew!!  (A totally AWish pic of the little man below).  I teach Zumba at noon and we're leaving right after that.  We're coming back later tomorrow night.  Sunday is church and errands and hopefully a nice long run.

I needed to get some grading finished today, but our online course management system (where my online students turn in all their papers) has been down for 2 days, so I have an excuse not to grade anymore!

I do not have weekend plans right now. I really never seem to have plans anymore. I'm so sad the summer is over, because everyone gets less interested in going places when there is so much rain.

Last night I got to hang out with an adorable little 10 month old that just started taking his first steps this week, so I spent all night trying to get him to walk for me. He mostly stood there are smiled at me. So all in all I wasn't THAT disappointed. I also made the meatballs mentioned by @CLoGreenEyes and she was right. They were insanely delicious. I ate so freaking many of those things.

    Tonight - no plans.
Tomorrow - no plans, although I need to put in some SERIOUS work on the one christmas present I'm hand-making this year. I'm really not sure I'll be done by Christmas.
Sunday - no plans. I should bottle the last beer I made, and then might make a new batch. Any ideas for what to make?

@swazzle *hugs* I really hope you get better news today.

@CocoBellaF Freaky! Dreams can be so weird. I'd probably take a test like @minskat30 suggested too. There are stranger things!

@Hummingbird125 Nooooo! I'm so bummed you missed those deliveries! Hopefully tonight will be like Christmas for you then. Plus, it's Friday, so even better!

@Dignity100 Ohhh 31 has some fun stuff. I've got a little wristlet thing that has been super handy when traveling so I don't have to take a full purse. Let us know if you get anything there!

@minskat30 Oooooh floors! That's so exciting! I hope you guys find something you like (and trust) at Home Depot.

@speakeasy14 I'm not a huge fan of Pumpkin Pecan Waffles (I'm in the minority, I know), but I looooove Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. I have the hand soap in one of the bathrooms, and every time I was my hands, I'm in heaven. Mmmm fall scents. :)

@futuremrshistorian Have fun with your nephew! He's adorable!

I worked until about 7:30 last night, and I ate like crap. I'll just count yesterday as my cheat day, even though I just finished off the Tootsie Rolls this morning. Whoops. Definitely going to hit the gym hard later today once it all digests.

I'm not sure what's going on this weekend. We wanted to host a Halloween-ish party on Saturday night, but due to some drama and lack of communication, that fell through. At this point my apartment is a wreck, and I don't think I have time to clean and prep for a party anyway. Oh well. I'm sure we'll still hang out with friends this weekend.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with a gum specialist about my receding gum line. Not sure how I feel about that... on the one hand, the tooth where the gums have really receded pretty badly is starting to bother me more and more. It keeps getting irritated and sore, so something needs to be done. On the other hand, you know, expensive scary medical procedure. We'll see what he decides needs to be done I guess.

Question: Do any of you have a Clarisonic Mia? FI has really bad acne issues, especially on his nose, and he's really self conscious about it. He's been looking at the skincare subreddit because he refuses to go to a dermatologist, but I've heard that the Clarisonic Mia is a really effective skincare tool. However, it's also about $100. I'm looking at it for a potential Christmas or birthday present for him, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the investment. Thoughts?

@Swazzle - I'm cross stitching a stocking. Almost everyone in my family has one from my grandma, but she stopped sewing this year because it got too hard. And my little niece needs one!

I was hoping to make one for my BF too, since we'll be at my parents' house for Christmas, but I'll just have to make him a nice/cute simple one, and make the more intricate one next year. If anyone has ever done any easy stocking designs that turned out really cute, I would LOVE a suggestion.

@speakeasy14 I think SCP and Leaves are my all-time favorite BBW scents. Hmmmm.... time to light a fall candle now that we're talking about awesome fall fragrances.

@swazzle Awesome! I'm glad to hear it worked so well for you! Sephora has a little men's holiday Clarisonic kit out, and they're about to do the VIB sale, so I think I'll pick one up for FI (and some extra brushes so I can use it too). His skin's always been really red and irritated on his nose, but the past couple of weeks he's started to develop what looks like cystic acne on his nose. He's really stubborn about a dermatologist, so I'm hoping that a few things from Sephora will help.

    Hello pretty girls!

@Swazzle - I'm so sorry about the house situation. I would have cried too! Keeping my fingers crossed and sending lots of good vibes for it to work out.

@Hummingbird125 - Well that's balls! At least you should be able to get both before the weekend?

@speakeasy14 - I flippin' love that kitten gif. It always makes me laugh!

@futuremrshistorian - Damn, your nephew is a cutie!

    ------------------------------

My day started off rather annoying, bus driver was a complete ass (enough that I actually wrote a complaint to the transit people) and I came in to work half an hour early only to find that our server was down! Boooooo.

But then I had a very productive meeting with my boss and got to have a lunch date with one of my work friends, and now it's 1:30 and I only have 3 hours left at work!

Tonight FI and I are going to go out for dinner and maybe a movie if there's anything we care about seeing. We had a little tiff earlier this week that I'm still sort of annoyed about...we need to have a small chat about that, I'm just upset about how he acted and I think he knows it.

Tomorrow I have a meeting for the camp board that I'm on and then my sister and her BF and I are going to FI's to watch the hockey game and hang out.

Sunday is church, nap time, church. And hopefully grocery shopping because I have no food in my house!

@Swazzle Sorry about your house issues :(  I hope things work out one way or another.

My day has been so long. I'm busy, but I think it's dragging because its Friday/Date Night. No bueno.
Tonight I am making baked tortellini and garlic knots, then drinking lots of wine.  I'm really excited about the tortellini. I've never made it but it looks and sounds really yummy.  After dinner we are carving our pumpkins and then baking the pumpkin seeds! I usually just use either seasoning salt or garlic salt on them, but I found some recipes I might try now that I have a ton of different spices that we received as a wedding gift.  One recipe was cinnamon/sugar/pumpkin pie spice that sounds really good.

Last night we went to Party City to pick up some tableware, spoons, plates, and other small decorations for our party tomorrow night. SOMEONE please explain to me how H and I can plan a wedding for 9 months by ourselves and not have ONE disagreement or argument about it, but the second we go to pick out napkins and plates for a Halloween party we can't decide on anything and get irritated with each other. MAKES NO SENSE. We ended up finding stuff we liked and all was good :)

Greetings from Denver! We're at the airport. My sister's flight just got in, and then we're going to wait an hour and a half for our mom to arrive. Then we're driving down to CO Springs for my cousin's wedding. Rehearsal dinner tonight, then wedding tomorrow morning, then dinner at my aunt and uncle's house, then clubbing after party, then an early morning flight (we have to be at the airport two hours early because we're all driving together and my sister's flight is at 9 and ours is at 11. Boo!).

@AlPacina - That's so cute! One of these days I swear I'm going to learn how to do something crafty.

@eilis1228 - My H has bad skin his whole life. He's been using Paula's Choice Men's Cleanser (I've been using their products for years now, it's completely changed my skin) and he loves it, he just requested a refill because he ran out. It's made a huge difference for him. If you're interested, I can pass on a link to you which will give you $10 off your order (full disclosure: it would also give me $10 off a future order).

@lmcooper86 - I really want to go to the movies to see Fury. I hope the chat goes well with your FI!

@severmilli12 - I'm dying to carve a pumpkin and roast the seeds! It reminds me of my childhood. Have a great time tomorrow night!!!!!

@phira - Sounds like a whirlwind weekend! Have a blast!

Well hey, I guess BF made plans to have his brother over tonight. He recently moved to the area, and BF is so freakin excited.

Personally, I don't like the guy. He treats his girlfriend like crap in front of EVERYONE. He has the biggest ego out of any person I've ever had to form a relationship with (in a "look how smart and awesome I am" way, rather than a "look how badass and strong and awesome I am" way). He also loves to flaunt his expensive things.

So........... I guess I'm getting a lot of the stocking done tonight! I hope they hang out in the garage and talk about guy things so I can watch all the shows that BF doesn't like while I work.

I'm waiting to get out of work, this day feels like it's been going on forever.
I'm stopping at the bank to deposit birthday checks from my mom and dad (yay!) and picking up quarters for laundry (boo). My friend is taking me out to dinner tonight since he missed my birthday and I'm excited. We haven't hung out just the 2 of us in a realllyy long time.

I have nothing planned for the weekend except doing laundry and going to BJs.  FI has to work a double tomorrow so he'll be out of the house by 6:30am and won't be back till 11:30pm if he doesn't go out afterwards. So it's just me and the kitty.

Oh I just remembered that I need to reorganize our clothes because our apartment is a hot mess because we have 2 many things and clothes. I need to get some containers to ATTEMPT to store all our shoes under the bed to start freeing up some closet space. I need a house with a walk in closet please.

@AlPacina, glad you liked the meatballs!

Today I've just been relaxing at home before work this weekend. I did laundry and paperwork and other boring stuff. My mom is making a pot roast, so yay for dinner! Tonight I'm watching What's Eating Gilbert Grape? A friend of mine loaned it to me months ago and said I would love it, so I am finally getting around to it.

Like I said, I'm working all weekend, soooooo that's kind of disappointing.

Ugh, life is so BORING lately. I keep trying to think of ways to jazz it up a bit, but I'm not sure how. But enough big changes will be coming soon enough with the job and moving and everything, so I should enjoy the quiet while I can.

@swazzle I'm so sorry! I would have cried too!

@AlPacina that sounds like a lovely gift for your niece! I hope you don't have to spend too much time with your BF's brother tonight though and hopefully you can watch your favorite shows!

@eilis1228 I hope that everything goes well tomorrow!

Yesterday and today have been crazy busy at work, partially because it is a review week and everyone is stressing out. I received my review yesterday evening, and I have mixed feelings about it. My manager basically told me that I got a mediocre review because I made so many mistakes and things were delayed as a result, but then told me that he made me a project lead fully aware that I had never seen an entire project from start to finish and knew I would make mistakes (he made me a project lead when I had been with the company for only 6 months.... an entire project takes anywhere from 8 months to 1.5 years). I was definitely upset and told him that I think more experience seeing how a project progresses from start to finish would have helped, and that I know now what to do next time and won't let the same mistakes happen again.

Fortunately, he did tell me that there were things that he was extremely impressed with, and thinks that I will do better on my next one and that I am on the right track. And I got a decent bonus and a small raise. As I said before, I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing.

BF has to work late tonight due to some issues with another coworker that is extremely incompetent according to BF. He text me earlier today saying s**t hit the fan with that employee today (BF has mentioned that he is not the only one annoyed with this employee), and BF has to stay late fixing things as a result. He said that it is making him look good though, so he doesn't mind. As a result, I am probably just going to hang out here at the apartment, maybe do some studying, and watch tv shows on Netflix when I finish studying.

Tomorrow, BF and I are going to the new jeweler that we made an appointment with. I have a really good feeling about this one, so I am very excited. We still haven't heard back from the other one that left a sign on their door saying they were closed. Oh well, they most likely lost our business unless they apologize with an extremely attractive offer.

On Sunday, I am going to hang out with my friend who is going through a rough patch in her relationship. I think we are going to have brunch and maybe go shopping. It's at least something to get her out of the house and her mind off of things temporarily.

  • Options
@AuroraRose41 Let us know how it goes with the new jeweler! What type of ring are you leaning toward?

@eilis1228 BF and I talked about this a lot. But we finally came up with something that we both like. Originally I liked the look of a something like this (solitaire with pave down the side), then tried on a ring with a cushion shaped halo around a round stone and liked it, but BF hated that, and I decided I liked the classic look of the solitaire better. We also went back and forth a lot on the type of metal. I think we are leaning toward platinum, but palladium is also an option still if we find a jeweler we like who is willing to work with it.

I would like a RB 0.75 to 1 CT diamond center stone and a thin pave band that only goes halfway down the ring. This was the Blue Nile setting that I sent to BF:
