$18 dollar check

Hi Ladies,
Thought I should share this with you.  My fiance and I had a good laugh when we opened the RSVP card from one of the invited guests last week.  They marked No and included an $18 dollar check with a note "Have a nice life"
Don't get me wrong I appreciate receiving the money, but it was too funny.  To be honest, I would have rather just received the card without the "insult".
What are your thoughts on this?  The invited couple are family friends from my fiance's parents' side.

Seriously "Have a nice life"?  sorry but that is too funny.  I wonder if they even realize what they wrote and how it would be taken.

Tacky.  I can't blv some people.  You will be telling this story for years to come.

You know, I did a "no gifts" thing so not an issue for me but honestly I think any cash gift of less than $50.00 (for B-Day, whatever not just weddings) should be rethought by the giver. Somehow a $15.00 gift card to Barnes and Nobel would be in better taste in my mind then a tiny check.

Are you sure these people are not mad at you in some way? I am not sure about your part of the country, but the only context I have heard "Have A Nice Life" in around here is pretty much a "screw you"... Add that to an $18.00 check and you have to wonder.

That is what I am thinking, why $18? That is really low and tacky. Some people just don't get it I guess. I think I would be afraid the check would bounce or something.

You asked this yesterday on another board and received the exact same explanation (and more) that millerstein gave you. Why repost on another board?

Do not mess in the affairs of dinosaurs because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
