Caribbean Honeymoon ideas in July 2016

edited August 2015 in Honeymoon Discussions
Hello! I will be marrying my husband in May 2016, but due to me being a teacher, we will be having the honeymoon early-to-mid July. We have our hearts out to go to a Caribbean island where we can relax on the beach and do a couple of excursions, and we want our honeymoon to be perfect (or mostly perfect). What we mean by that is weather-wise: less chances of rain every day (if it's like a short downpour followed by immediate sun the rest of the day, that is fine!) and especially hurricanes. We are looking for all-inclusive resorts. We went to one in Punta Cana and it was such a stress-free and relaxing vacation with no worries of extra expenses, unless it was tips and excursions.

Islands we were thinking are:
Aruba (I have been there twice but I love it!)
Barbados
Grenada
Curacao

We were thinking Hawaii also, but we heard it's super expensive, and no all-inclusive resorts. Also we're leaving from NY so it'd be a very long plane ride. We're still making it an option, just incase.

If anyone has any suggestions, let us know. Thank you!

H and I also live in NY, and we just came back from Hawaii. We did 3 nights in Honolulu and a 7 day Hawaiian cruise. It was WONDERFUL! The plane rides were long, definitely. We flew from NY to LA, and then LA to Honolulu. Coming home we flew from Honolulu to San Francisco, and then home from there. You can do a direct flight to Hawaii, but it's LONG and expensive, from what I've heard. Aruba is beautiful, and out of the hurricane belt, so no worries there. I've never been to the other islands you mentioned. I've heard good things about Sandals, but not sure about pricing.

Yes, my fiance was mentioning Sandals. They specialize in honeymoons and destination weddings, hence why I made Barbados and Grenada options (St. Lucia too, but I heard it rains alot in July there, so it's a maybe for us.)

I definitely would go back to Aruba again! As of now, I'm aiming for there or Barbados (which we both have never been to), I just want to know more of Barbados's weather in July. And I know I'll be spending at least 7 or 8 hours traveling with a connecting flight.

I've only seen pics online of Sandal's, but it looks beautiful! I've also heard great things about Tahiti and Turks and Caicos. Have you and your FI considered a cruise?

Believe it or not, we've already been on three cruises during our dating period! So no cruises for us. We love them, though! Yea were leaning towards Sandals since it seems like a nice honeymoon resort and it's hard to find adults-only. Barbados seems to look the best. Same with St. Lucia, but again, rainy during July over there. So we might be narrowing our options down to Aruba and Barbados. We want to stick to southern Caribbean to avoid the hurricane belt. We're just having an issue with the fact that we may not be able to get a honeymoon package because our honeymoon will be 2 months after the wedding because I'm a teacher. But I will give them a call for informational purposes! So yea, anyone who has experiences in any of the islands, let me know!

I'm a teacher too, and H is an assistant principal. We took our honeymoon 8 months after our wedding. You have plenty of time to book. You can't book any flights until you're 300 days out, but I'm sure you can still get what you want if you book soon. I know Sandals has sales a lot, if that's the route you plan on taking.

I gave them a call, a request was sent by a customer service rep to acknowledge that it will be my honeymoon even though it'll be 2 months later. Their customer service is very helpful! I can book the room, but I can wait until more flights are available (apparently JetBlue flies to Barbados direct).
