What are you looking forward to the month?  The holidays have begun!!!

What are you not looking forward to this month?  Cold and dark all the time.  Boo!!

Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving?  This is our year to stay in town for Thanksgiving.  We'll do lunch with my family and dinner with some of H's in-town family.  And then we'll watch a Christmas movie that evening.

What are you thankful for?  My cute husband.  My sweet pups.  That Cricket has a family and that they are totally cool with me picking her up and letting her hang out basically whenever I want.  My house-cleaner/neighbor/friend.

Favorite fall food?  All the comfort food.  Butternut squash, acorn squash, cranberries, spiced pecans, cinnamon, apples, pumpkin...

Favorite Thanksgiving food?  Homemade cranberry sauce, turkey, stuffing.

Name one thing about someone on NEY that you really appreciate.  @AlPacina 's gifs.

What do you value most about your life?  I value days when I feel healthy and vibrant.  

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?  The first Thanksgiving I brought a boy home, my grandma was shooting squirrels out of her tree with a shotgun because they were eating her pecans.

Woohoo Happy Thanksgiving Month!!

What are you looking forward to this month? Thanksgiving and visiting with my grandparents, and being one month closer to nearly paying off one of H's student loans.

What are you not looking forward to this month? All of the excessive eating because I have no self control.

Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving? We'll spend it with my parents and grandparents this year. It was technically my ILs "year" for Thanksgiving but they are already going to have an overfull house so we spent Labor Day there instead. My mom and I do all the cooking.

What are you thankful for? My H, my family, my job, my dog, my life.

Favorite fall food? Squash everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite Thanksgiving food? My mom makes this marshmallow fruit salad and I can never get enough of it.

Name one thing about someone on NEY that you really appreciate. I appreciate @Swazzle's honesty and bluntness. She doesn't let people get away with shit!

What do you value most about your life? I value my health - mental and physical. I always feel good and positive even though physically I don't exercise like I should. I don't have any major or minor health issues and I really appreciate that.

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past? One time my dad imitated Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast and did the most hilarious French accent I've ever heard. @southernpeach89 and I laughed about it for days and days.

What are you looking forward to the month? Spending time with family.  Having my bf's brother and his girlfriend home for a month (we've missed them). Finding out if I'm getting a nephew or niece.

What are you not looking forward to this month? Cold and snow

Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving? My bf and I still need to figure this out.  Thanksgiving is the only holiday that we have kept separate.  I usually go visit my family in Albany, and he spends the day with his family.  Because there's a 5 hour drive, we're not sure if we can do both. 

What are you thankful for? The kindness of strangers.  Since we've been so busy with the house, we never had time to take care of the yard.  Our next door neighbors have a landscaper and he has been mowing our lawn at no cost.  My bf went to ask him how much we owed and the guy refused and said that he remembered what it was like with his first home.  We've been taking the money we would owe him and putting it to the side.  We plan on using that money to pay it forward to someone else.

Favorite fall food? Butternut squash and pumpkin soups

Favorite Thanksgiving food? I love it all. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries... ok now I'm drooling

Name one thing about someone on NEY that you really appreciate. Mine is an appreciation for all of you.  This community is the definition of friendship.  

What do you value most about your life? The fact that I have a life.  Every day that I wake up healthy, is a good day.  I really am trying to focus more on that, than the pathetic things I worry and complain about.

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past? A few years ago we started a tradition of playing a game of telephone at the table during Thanksgiving dinner.  The first year, the phrase that was being passed (through my entire family) ended up turning into something really perverted.  My sister was trying to share it with my cousin and ended up cry-laughing.  Which made my cousin start giggling.  He has one of those infectious laughs, so everyone started laughing.  We ended up having to pause the game because  I think one of my aunts ended up peeing her pants from laughing so hard.

@speakeasy14 I considered telling a similar story. @southernpeach89 and I usually play a telephone game and we usually end up literally peeing our pants from laughing so hard, but it's not JUST a Thanksgiving thing.

What are you looking forward to the month?

-Seeing H's Mom and Brother in India as well as going to H's Cousin's wedding there.  Enjoying Diwali with all the lights and treats!  Coming home and spending Thanksgiving with my family.

What are you not looking forward to this month?

-The trip to India...its a terrible flight.  Without wine and with nausea its going to be like 100 times worse.  Sigh.

Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving?

-Eat all the gluten free food my sister makes for me for Thanksgiving. I think she is making gluten free mac'n'cheese too and I'm already drooling.

-My family, our health....pretty much each other.

-My family.  Right now I'm so grateful for H and Raj and our little nugget.  Our families are awesome too.  

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?

-I got nothing really other than I tried to implement a "go around the table and say what you are thankful for" thing before supper one time.  The kids picked the most random things like "my new X box game" or "the pies I'm going to eat"...I found it funny at least.

Seeing my family for the first time in FIVE YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!

BF is meeting my extended family for the first time. They are very religious and known to be judgy. He's the nicest person in the whole world so I'm not worried about them LIKING him, I am worried that they're gonna bring up undesirable topics like marriage and religion and politics.

I really appreciate that @speakeasy14 always offers good advice about little day to day things like ear piercing care and I appreciated when she said she supported me in leaving my job because she knows it made me unhappy for a while. It made me feel really good

I value my independence. If I wasn't so independent my life would be totally different. TOTALLY different.

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?
One year my dad had a handlebar mustache.... seriously. It was my first trip home from college the year I met BF and my dad had grown this horrendous mustache. I cringe at all of our pictures from that year!

What are you looking forward to the month?

I can't wait for Thanksgiving! And a day off next week (Veterans day) will be nice.

The possibility of snow and it getting much colder! Spending $ on xmas gifts, too.

We go to my side of the family for Thanksgiving. My uncle is a chef and makes the best dinner. So much food.

I am thankful for my H and how well things have been going for us after the wedding and crazy summer.

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?

My hometown always has a thanksgiving football game with the crosstown rivals. Everyone goes and gets so wasted. One year my brother went on a huge drinking binge and completely missed thanksgiving dinner. He fell asleep in his friend's car the entire day. We saved him leftovers so it wasn't a total fail.

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?

My mother raving about T'giving dinner at Cracker Barrel one year. I was living in Richmond in an apartment and I did NOT cook. So we went to CB and had the yummiest meal. As we walked out, my mom went on and on about how wonderful it was and how excited she was not to have to do any dishes. It really was a great T'giving! (And we might re-create it this year if my parents come up).

We played some newer version of Cranium and one of the things was something  having to do with a puppet. So my aunt had to stand behind my grandmom and move her around like a puppet to get us to guess the answer. My grandmom peed herself. Literally.

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past? The year my maternal grandma died, Thanksgiving was the first family holiday we were going to have without her. My mom and I decided to make krumkake in the afternoon to distract ourselves. We pulled out her recipe and found that there were missing measurements, no cooking times, etc. We stood in the kitchen and laughed.

What do you value most about your life?

My job. Not even kidding. I couldn't enjoy everything else in life so much if it weren't for the awesome opportunity I got right out of college.

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?

In college I spent a year living with 4 guys. None of us really had that much motivation to go home for the holiday, so we decided to have a friends Thanksgiving with one of the GF's and another buddy of ours. We each were in charge of a different dish for dinner. I'm pretty sure only one thing on the whole table didn't taste like shit. Before we started eating we passed around a bong, would say something we were thankful for, and then take a hit. Haha. It made the food taste slightly better.

What are you looking forward to the month?

This month is making me sort of stabby. It should be my anniversary with T but seeing as how I don't know what is going on with us, that's giving me a lot of anxiety and sadness. The fact that the holidays start this month, too, and I don't know if I'll be with him or not...yeah. All around not off to a great start.

What are you not looking forward to this month?

The uncertainty that comes from all of the above. The fact that it will now be dark when I get home, which will make running outdoors more challenging. I'm thinking of purchasing some sort of head lamp contraption thingy for visibility and so I can actually see, but I think they're sort of expensive and I'm sort of broke.

Do you have any plans for Thanksgiving?

Regardless of what happens, I'll be cooking for at least my parents and grandmother on the day. We stopped going to my extended family's holiday six years ago now, I think, and I'm so much happier doing it myself.

What are you thankful for?

That I am alive and that I have supportive parents and a few very close friends.

Favorite fall food?

All of it. Fall is my favorite season for about a million reasons, and food is at the top of that list. Right now I'm loving the sweet potato and quinoa turkey chili I made. Eating chili with an IPA under the blanket on the couch is a pretty perfect evening in my book. 

Favorite Thanksgiving food?

I honestly love all of it. It took me a few years but I have perfected all of my Thanksgiving recipes, which are all twists on old favorites. I think my favorite part might be the glaze I make for the turkey with brown sugar and mustard. It is phenomenal. 

Name one thing about someone on NEY that you really appreciate.

I'm grateful you've all welcomed me back after my hiatus. It feels nice to be checking in here again. 

What do you value most about your life?

That I'm recovering from brain surgery and will hopefully really have my life back after spending so many years with severe pain. 

What is the funniest thing you remember about a Thanksgiving past?

That time that I hadn't yet met @goldenpenguin in person, and I invited her to come to our Thanksgiving because she couldn't make it home. She decided that day she was coming, and showed up on my doorstep a few hours later!

@helloliv - I got a 20 dollar headlamp at Target. It's pretty bright and it's fairly comfortable. I use a headband to keep my ears warm and wear the headlamp strap over that so it's more comfortable.
