Good morning!! The weather is so gorgeous today, I just want to be outside and get some sun on my skin.

Last night was pretty uneventful, DH and I both worked out and we had leftovers for dinner. We finished watching GOT and I hate waiting a whole week to see the next episode. I wish they just gave it to us all up front so I can binge watch it. 

Last night I went through my closet and pulled out a bunch of clothes for consignment. Hopefully they will take most of them since they are all still in good shape...they have just been sitting in my closet and I barely ever wear them anymore. I would find myself thinking about wearing them and then constantly changing my mind so they need to go.

Also Callie tried pancakes for the first time! She actually enjoyed them. They were super easy for her to eat since they became really mushy after she gummed them for a few seconds. This will definitely be a staple now on weekends for breakfast.

Not much happening tonight...we plan to workout and have leftovers yet again lol. I swear whenever I make these bean soup it lasts us for DAYS...I don't mind it but the time we are done with it I'm so sick of it.

@southernpeach89 it must be so fun to watch Callie try new foods. I cleaned out my closet this weekend too! I have a whole pile ready to go. I usually donate them to the middle school my mom works at (they have a hallway that they open up every now and then for kids to take clothes who need them), but I think this time I'm going to try ThredUp. A lot of the clothes I have to get rid of are too mature for middle schoolers this time around. I know I probably won't make much but it will be nice to get it all out of the house.

Last night's outing with my department was a success... we ate pizza and I homebrewed for the first time! It's a lot of work and takes a lot of equipment so I was happy it was with a big group where I could watch and learn. I'm so tired today though.

I have to stay at work late tonight, but hopefully H and I will catch up - we've barely seen each other since he left on Friday!

@PamBeesly524 Home brewing is a ton of work! A friend of a friend does home brewing and he actually sells his own beer. It's definitely a passion of his and I would never have the patience to do that lol.

Morning! The weather is not quite so beautiful here today. We had some pretty noisy storms roll through last night but it was luckily not raining on my way into work. I think it's supposed to start up again later this afternoon though.

Regardless of the gloomy weather, I'm in a lovely mood this morning for no specific reason other than I just woke up thinking about how in love I am with my life. Is that cheesy? I don't even care if it is. 

Last night, H and I cooked dinner together and I read while we had the Blackhawks/Blues game on in the background. I got into bed a little before 9 and tried to read for a little longer but I couldn't keep my eyes open. 

Tonight will be much of the same. I'm making everything bagel salmon which is one of my favorites because it's SO easy and fast and delicious. I need to watch The Family from Sunday night (sidenote: does anyone else watch this besides @GoldenPenguin and me???) and then I'll probably read before bed.

@southernpeach89 - I think flipping my closet and getting rid of things is going to be my plan for Saturday. There's just SO much in there right now that I know I didn't wear at all this winter and so it's just taking up space for no reason and it needs to go. Also, I want to start getting rid of things that I put on and just hate on me. Why the hell am I keeping something that I don't feel good in?

Well, it's Tuesday.  We have a very high chance of strong storms and tornadoes.  A couple school districts cancelled for the day because they (always) are predicted to fire up around 2 or 3 pm, when school is let out.  No one wants a repeat of 5-20-13.  It's already warm outside (72 deg at 6:30 AM) and muggy.  You can tell we're at least going to get storms and massive hail.  H set up the tornado shelter so hopefully I can get in it without any help.  Not sure how I'll do the dogs, but I'll figure it out!

Thursday is our 4D ultrasound!!  Getting really excited.

Yesterday was a really barfy day for me, but I rallied by the end of the day.  I went in to work at 10:00 or so and stayed until 3:45.  I ran by Walgreens after work and picked up a few things for a spa night (eucalyptus epsom salt, almond cookie body oil spray, new lip gloss, etc.)  H helped me make dinner (which he said he liked, but would be soooo much better later when I'm not pregnant!  No onions, garlic, anything spicy...  just kinda bland.)  And then we collapsed on the couch together and watched 2 episodes of Foyle's War (3 hours worth).  So no spa night last night, and probably none tonight.  Wednesday it is!

@Swazzle I do the same thing...I will wear something and then see myself in the mirror and I'm like...UGH why am I wearing this?!? I feel like I just do it because I want to get use out of all my clothes even though I don't like all of them. It's silly when you think about it lol.

@southernpeach89 @pambeesly524 @swazzle Hope you guys have some success at selling clothes! I often post stuff on those local facebook buy/sell pages and people always jerk me around for weeks saying they'll meet me to buy it and then don't show up or reschedule 5 times or stop responding. So I always get frustrated and just dump everything at Salvation Army. People who shop there are getting some really nice clothes from me!  

@southernpeach89 You need to read the Mari Condo art of decluttering book. It definitely changed the way I look at things such as clothes. When I read it, I purged 50% of mine and even last night I was thinking about doing more. She talks about exactly what you mentioned- don't keep stuff around just because how much it cost, or what great condition it's in, or you "might" want it. Life is short, closet space is short, so if you don't love it and love how you feel in it, just ditch it. 

It's gloomy here today.  On Sunday, H tracked in some diesel oil onto the carpet and it's not cleaning out. Then last night we're watching TV and he takes off his hoodie and throws it onto the floor but knocks over my drink on the coffee table. We couldn't help but laugh because here we were worried about the child messing up our carpets and he just did 2 days in a row. Thanks babe! lol

Ugh @jenna8984 it sounds like I need to read that book. I get rid of a lot of things maybe a couple times a year but I never get rid of my expensive items which is my issue. I look at skirts that definitely don't fit me anymore but I LOVE THEM so that's why I don't say bye when I definitely need to lol.

@southernpeach89 Even duplicates.....I had like 5 white camis, 5 black ones, 4 grey ones. And I was like well if I only wear one of each color during the week and I do laundry weekly...then there's no point in having all of these taking up space. And it really has worked out, I got rid of all the duplicates and I've been totally fine with what I have! It teaches you to stack your drawers horizontally rather than vertically (like they do in dept stores) and it's amazing once you can open the drawer and see each piece lined up you can really tell the ones you don't wear. Because they aren't stuffed on the bottom anymore.

@southernpeach89 - I love hearing about Callie trying new food.  I get this mental image of her trying things out and thinking about them before she decides "yes" or "no" on her "like" list.  

@pambeesly525 - Good luck with the home brewing!  Do you guys have a space for it somewhere?  Someone I know did it and said it took up a lot of space but they really went all out with it so maybe that is why.

@cocobellaf - Wishing that the tornadoes stay away for your sake!  Also, good luck with the 4D ultrasound.  I hope K cooperates more than A did.   

@jenna8984 - Ugh, I'm sorry about the carpet.  I hope you get it out!

@swazzle - I think we need a thankful Thursday this week.  Your post reminded me of it.    What are you in love with in your life?  I could use some positive thoughts so I'll share yours.

I'm a little sad today.  I keep thinking about Raj's surgery and worrying.  I know he's been through it before though and I'm sure he'll be fine.  I just don't want him in pain.    Consult is Thursday and surgery is Friday. 

Yesterday was our birthing class.  The video was helpful and no one passed out so that was good (apparently some guy passes out at least once a year from the video...how, I don't know, since its just a video).  H did well.  We toured the labor rooms too...starting to get real!

Today is just work, work and more work.  Maybe a yoga class this afternoon to mix it up and I'll cook tonight for H and Raj (think I have left overs for myself).  I'm giving Raj all the chicken he wants this week because I'm feeling like a guilty mom.

@minskat30 Sorry you're worried about Raj... It's tough knowing that a pet is in pain and has to go through a surgery. Just keep thinking about how much better he'll feel after the surgery and after he heals - he's a strong pup!

And yay for no one passing out - I feel like H would totally be that guy. He passed out a couple of years ago when he cut his hand on glass and needed stitches - the dr. put a needle in the wound to numb it and he zonked right out! He said it felt weird being jabbed around in there.

as for homebrewing - I absolutely do not have any room for it, but I wish I did! I also can't really regulate the temp in my apartment very well so my space is out. Luckily our dept. VP has a house with a basement, so she's storing it down there for the week. Can't wait to try it!

@minskat30 - Awwww Raj is going to be just fine and once the surgery is over, I hope he recovers quickly and then he'll be so much better! Don't feel like a guilty mom! It's not your fault and you're getting him all fixed up as quickly as possible. He knows how lucky he is to have you

I just feel very grateful for everyone and everything in my life. I'm healthy, I have an amazing husband (who was so sweet yesterday, he texted me during the day just to tell me that he couldn't wait to see me after work and that I make him smile, I melted), I have a great job that pays me well, it's finally starting to warm up around here, my kids are adorable and snuggly and usually well-behaved, I have the bestest friends on the planet who are always so supportive. Thankful Thursday definitely needs to be a thing this week

@PamBeesly524 - Thank you for the reminder, Raj is strong.  He's a tough cookie but he turns into the biggest baby when he is sick so it breaks my heart.  Honestly, we just have to get through the surgery day and that night we'll visit him in the hospital with a fresh rotisserie chicken like we did the last time (he curled up in my lap...well as much as a 120lb dog can...and ate it from my hands last time) then get through the first two weeks.  From there he should be on the mend somewhat.  It cracked me up a little that your H would be the dude to pass out.   

@swazzle - Your post made me smile.  That IS a lot to be thankful for.  And your H's text is just the absolute sweetest.

@minskat30 Haha she does kind of pause for a second to think about what she just put in her mouth. It's cute. I'll be thinking about Raj, I know he will be just fine! Also, I remember when we toured our L&D rooms that I was like omg....we are going to be in HERE! It really hit us hard then. It gave me all the chills.

@PamBeesly524 I hope your homebrew turns out! H and I experimented ONCE and the beer came out HORRIBLE but I think it was because (like you) the temp. iin our house was pretty unregulated. We need to try again now that we have a new furnace and a/c because it does a much better job at maintaining an even temp.
 
@southernpeach89 I love hearing about the things Callie eats! I can't wait for her to be old enough to have auntie/niece sleepovers and brunch dates!

Same old, same old for me. Our contractor is back today and he's confident he can finish all the tile work. I can't really help him because I seriously have a four hour block of non-stop meetings this afternoon. UGH!!!!! I don't think we have any real plans for tonight. I need to cook dinner and maybe if I feel up to it I'll do some grouting in the bathroom.

Not a huge amount last night. Laundry, dishes ....
I had planned on cooking some chicken and using some of the salad in the fridge, but unfortunately it had already gotten that weird slimy feel So I went thru the fridge and unfortunately ended up tossing out a lot of stuff. That bottom drawer is basically where food goes to die lol

Ended up ordering pizza and wings, which made lunches easier today because it's just left overs. Tonight I'm frying up pork chop and chicken strips so we don't waste it.


Oh! For the second day in a row, my bus didn't go by my place. Luckily I walked up the to the main road and caught it, but I sent in a complaint to ensure the driver actually does that part of the morning route.

Good morning. I really don't have much going on today except that we got more hail last night. So it's a good thing we haven't gotten our windows fixed yet. I'm ready for this hail to go away!!!

I never updated from the weekend. I guess the big update would be the the dress passed parental muster if I get cups sewn in. Woo! Done dress shopping for my brother's wedding!

Last night was lovely - we went out to dinner at the restaurant we ate at the night he proposed to me, ate half a 6" round cake (amaretto with caramel filling) between the two of us, each had a very cardboard-flavored bite of last year's cake, split a bottle of cheap champagne we were supposed to drink our wedding night, and cuddled on the loveseat watching Crash Course Astronomy.

Today I'm hurting. I'm apparently not good at half bottles of champagne.

@jenna8984 - I'm intrigued by this 'stack horizontally rather than vertically' idea. I think that would help with my t-shirt drawer. I definitely only wear the 5-6 that are on top.

@minskat30 - Aww... thinking of you and your H and Raj! I'm sure he'll be fine and I hope his recovery goes really smoothly.

@pambeesly524 - I actually forbid my H from starting to homebrew. Occasionally he makes moonshine, but I just do not want hops and crap fermenting all over my basement. And I know he'd LOVE it, so it would be constant (and expensive). He'll just have to take himself to craft breweries and get his fix there.

@keptinstitches - I'm sorry... you needed your parents approval -and- they directed you to get cups sewn in?

AFM: Day 5 of 7 for meds. I forgot my pill this morning so I had to run home after crossfit. Needless to say I was late for work today. Good thing boss is out of town and oh, right, no one cares when I come or go.

H made burgers and fries on the grill last night. Yum. Tonight I'm grilling bratwurst and veggies (potatoes, red pepperse, zucchini, maybe some broccoli). I'm getting my cheek swabbed for a bone marrow donor database today. Other than that, not much going on here.

@cu97tiger - Thank you.  Thinking of you guys.  I'm glad your work is somewhat flexible too.  I had a brat (cheese brat) last night for dinner and it was divine.  I hope yours is just as good.

@keptinstitches - I'm glad you had a good anniversary!  You do NOT need cups sewn into that awesome dress though unless you want them in...I think you look stunning in it as-is.

@swazzle, @cu97tiger - perhaps "approval" isn't quite right. Words are challenging today. I think what I'm looking for is a "pick your battles" type of situation. My parents tend to have very conservative tastes in clothing, and this is my brother's wedding - there will be photos.

@PamBeesly524 good luck home brewing! My bf's brother used to (not sure if he still does) home brew and is the one who got me hooked on porters.  He did it out of an apartment, so depending on how much you plan on making shouldn't take up too much space. 
@jenna8984 I may have to look into that book too.  I try to declutter every few months, but there's always something I refuse to get rid of even though I never use/wear it.  Like purses, even if they break I just can't get rid of them. 

Morning everyone. Today has been off to a gloomy start.  While I was getting ready this morning my mom sent a group text to the family that my step dad's father passed away in his sleep last night.  He was 96 years old and has been having some medical issues since Thanksgiving.  His parents live a few miles from my office so I'm going to stop by after work to keep his mom company.  I feel so bad for my step dad.  His mom has Parkinsons and his dad was the one who took care of her.  The past year, the burden has fallen on my step dad and mom.  There's no way his mom can live on her own, she's completely dependent on others, but she also refuses to leave her home.

Good news though, hopefully this gloomy, rainy weather is putting out the forest fires we've been having.  And my sister has a dr appt today to get an Emmy update.

Has anyone watched the movie Max? We watched it last night, and I definitely recommend.  It's about a military dog. Calla enjoyed it too, and kept inspecting the TV every time a dog barked haha

Thanks @TwoDimes - I know the surgery is necessary so that gives me a great deal of comfort at least.  He'll be in more pain without the surgery down the road than with it.  Just have to get him through two weeks of hell for recovery. 

@speakeasy14 - Your poor sister.  I'm hoping for good Emmy news!
