How is your

day going?  I hope great!

I just got home from setting up my classroom (which I think looks awesome, AW alert!) and I'm about to do some grad school work/first day prep.I'm so not mentally prepared to juggle both again.  But I am looking forward to getting paid!

Also, I wanted to say how much I love the board in general (not to be all love-fest-y) and I'm glad I post here.  Smile

I am glad you post here too.

My day was going fine until some actual WR drama just got thrown my way. Whoa. I forgot what a joy immature people can be. More details to follow when I get the strength/perspective. It feels like a doozy now.

I've been having a really bad lower back pain all day and it won't go away. We have tickets to tonight's game but I am not to sure I want to go. It's a give away so that's a plus.

ETA: I am glad I post here as well. I started out on my local after the initial excitement of my engagement. I haven't done any planning and don't plan to for at least year. About a few months ago stumbled on SB and all the international board. Thank goodness I did. I enjoy it on here then any of the other boards.

It's alright, I got thrown into a loop when I got in to realize my manager was here. Was not expecting it and not excited about it. She's gone now though :)
I'm super starving, I want a donut thanks to CS

Finding out that my FI has to work on Labor Day bummed me out more than I like to admit. Gah. I better get used to it.

    Likewise.

And my day is going alright. I'm trying to will myself not to eat this entire bag of chips, but the whole salad eating thing isn't cutting it. I have so much respect for people who manage to diet successfully, my will power just isn't there.

On the bright side, I pick FI up from the airport tomorroooooow. I think I've mentioned it a few times now, but I'm so excited damnit.

I'm just finishing up an 11-hour day. Tomorrow and Thursday will be 12-hour days, of my own choosing. I'm doing all the OT I can while it lasts, it's great money. But I am freaking exhausted. And I still have to cook dinner. And make lunches. Ugh.

    Eek.

ModMeg, Dodgers, Renee--I hope things start going your way.

Anysunrise--Yay!  You must be so excited (actually that is the dumbest statement, since you obviously said just that and it's pretty much the given emotion for the situation Tongue out).  I'm glad for you!

Seshat--Ugh, I know how that goes.  I hate working all day, staying till 6 or 7 to grade stuff, and just knowing that I have to cook, make lunch, walk the dog, whatever, when I get home.  It never ends.  But yay for OT.

lol ^.^ Yeah, it's just nice because we met, we spent a year literally never being apart from each other, and then WHAM border patrol was all "Nah, we're not gonna let you back in" (understandably, I really should've looked up the laws there) and then we were 1300 miles away like that.

It's been really hard, and I've been feeling like crap lately. And hopefully, it's just this time and then once more before he comes up and takes me home with him again.

    Yay Sun :)

I got a lot of cleaning done and rescued a cherry tree from my local garden center. Dh came home 3 hours early too which was nice :)

Apparently he and bil are going to Dave and Buster's Friday. Joyous. If he drinks and drives I will kick his asss until it falls off. Somehow I have a feeling I'll be driving to MD at midnight Friday to pick them up.

    Wow-1300 miles.

FI and I were long distance for a year (a 14 hour drive away).  I look at it this way-- if he hadn't been so far away, I never would have seen the Midwest :).  Seriously, it was hard, but he moved here and it was great.  I think long distance helps you work on your communication skills big time.

Rhon- last time he was up was the end of June and the beginning of July. He was here for about a week.

Npasq - I definitely agree. I'm sure I'll look back on this and be happy, because we talk all the time and it leads to discussions we probably wouldn't have in person. I'm glad we do, and Skype/webcam makes it a bit easier. Thank God for the internet, amirite.

My day was pretty good.  FI is home this week, instead of in Cleveland for training, and it's been so nice to spend some time together after two weeks of him being gone (and of course now...he's off with a friend).  I think I'm finally getting into the swing of things with school, but I'm still worrying about what to teach my junior high kids...and hoping they don't get sick of me before I figure it out.

To join in the love-festy feeling, I really enjoy this board.  I really like jumping into the conversations here, and also just lurking and reading what's going on.  There are some amazing, smart, funny, and talented women on this board, and I like hanging around here. :-)

Yep!  Thats actually how we met (it's kind of a weird story).  If it weren't for internet/phones I don't know what we would have done.  Well, I guess we wouldn't be together.

I used to head out to Indy every school break I had and spent a summer out there and after a year of LD, he moved out here.  That was two years ago.  So it lasted quite some time, but it was worth it.

    Yay for seeing each other!

Ditto =D We're both nerds and play World of Warcraft, and that's how we met.

I left my mom with a $300.00 phone bill one month. She was a good sport about it though, I felt bad. "Were you talking to a boy?" "...yes." "Is he cute?" "Definitely." "Well, okay then."

    I love my mommy.

Yep, music.  I started last Monday, and so far my junior high lessons have been a hodgepodge of "let's sing!" "let's talk about rhythm!" "let's do something music related--stay with me!"  I'm feeling great about first through fifth grade, but the kindergarteners and 7-8th graders are throwing me for a loop so far.

Good luck with your first day!  I am so impressed that you're taking classes at the same time.  I'll have to do it in the next few years, but I couldn't imagine it right now.  That's awesome.

I just got an awesome email from one of our trouble teachers

"Kristi, I know you don't start until tomorrow but I also know you do way more than your job and probably have been checking your email all summer. Would it be possibel to book a computer lab every 3rd and 4th block for next year? I'm hoping you are still in charge of the schedule because you are so good at it. See you soon!"

Yeah, she cc'd my boss. Me doing the schedule again is something we're discussing tomorow because I love doing it and it makes me happy :)

Honestly, I did my student teaching in a middle school and that is the WORST age group.  They're needy, but they also want to be "adults".  I loved them, but they were so frustrating and draining.  My HS kids are much more manageable for me.

Thanks--I need luck.  I'm on the worst sleeping schedule from the summer ( I just took classes, so I was up till all hours working on stuff--and Knotting, lol).  I'm glad at least my classroom is done and looks good.  That makes me feel more together.  That and the fact that this is my 6th year.  I keep getting nervous and then I think, this is the 6th time you've done this! Calm the eff down!

I just started classes in the spring.  I took 2 and then 3 over the summer.  There is no way I could have done it when I first started teaching.  It took my five years to feel good enough about my curriculum and the materials I've added and confident enough in my performance to dedicate time to school.  I know a lot of people go back right away, but waiting was better for me.  You'll get there!

Yay classroom! My kids say my classroom is the brightest, partially because I leave the blinds open (sunlight keeps them up!) and partially because I use crazy bulletin board colors.  This year they are fuschia (haha, wedding colors made it in!), purple, yellow and green.

I want a classroom! *pouts* They are shoving my entire dept (of 3) into the library lunch room. Something tells me I'm going to be saying "They don't pay me enough for that" a lot next year, and I hate using that phrase.

This is great!  It's so important to let people (and their superiors) know when they do a great job.  Not only does it make them feel better, but they get the recognition they deserve and hopefully something more concrete (raise, better schedule, whatever).  I'm glad for you!

A raise isn't happening (3rd year of a pay freeze) but he's not going to be happy with my schedule this year. Last year I agreed to work the 9:30-5 shift every day because the other TA has a kid in high school (the train wreck coworker, I could write a book on her sucktitude). I'm not dealing with rush hour traffic every day again, and I'm definitely not driving through back country roads and over a mountain when it's dark/slippery outside.
