Cake Cutting?

If you have a multi layered cake, what layer do the bride and goom cut and is there a specific piece that we are supposed to save?

Typically the bottom layer is the layer that the bride and groom cut from and the top layer is the layer that is saved.

I've also seen couples cut from a middle layer of the cake.  I don't think it really matters.

I don't really think it matters.  We just sliced into ours on the bottom layer.  The top layer is what gets saved and frozen.

we are having 300+ guest. So one huge wedding cake is way over budget. We are going to have a smaller wedding cake ( 3 tiers) and then multiple sheet cakes in the back for serving. So we are going to be cutting one slice from the top tier and saving the rest of that tier. the bottom two will the carboard cake.
