FLAME FLAME FLAME

Lets do this shiiiiit.

I flame Nebb for telling people "Can you guys fucking cut it out with the gifs? You know it crashes tk mobile. Come on." When she herself has a GIF in her dang sig.

First, no, not everyone knows that, I never post from my phone. And second, we can't tell  people how to post. I know she came back and said "well you can turn off sigs, you can't turn off pictures" or something like that, but no one can expect people to cater to them just because they are posting from their phone. That would be like saying "hey guys, start a new thread after you get to page 3, because it is a biiitch from my phone. Thanks." No.

I flame the NC gtg thread below where they uninvited someone.

I really really really hate gifs in sigs.  Like, really.  That's not a good flame, but that's all I have in response.

*SIGH* I have a love hate relationship with Habs these days. I was so incensed the other day during the education thread when she got so... snotty... about this woman who paid 90k for her degree's. It just struck me as needlessly mean.

Which is actually kind of hilarious coming from me.
  • Options
Like you would ever be mean just to be mean SNIPPY?

I sort of agree on the NC GTG thing. I mean I totally understand how people wouldn't want to GTG with people they don't know, but then I can imagine being on the other side and people saying "Oh yeah I am inviting everyone from NC EXCEPT you, maybe next time." I get it, but it's still sad. But like I said, it's still over a month away so they can either get to know her or they can't. It's just like food swap/ secret santa stuff all over again. Don't invite everyone if you don't plan on inviting EVERYONE.

I started reading that thread and had to step away -- it was already many pages long and I just couldn't deal with even what I saw on the first page.

I hate gifs in sigs. HATE. I am also not a fan when threads turn into a gif contest. The occasional one is funny, but they just get on my nerves. UO?

I agree with Shan regarding the GTG.

True enough, but I think it was LDY's 'negative ghost rider" thing that really rubbed me the wrong way.

Please to be reading the last part of my post where I said:

<strong>"Which is kind of hilarious coming from me."</strong>

    You're welcome.

I just went and read that NC thread and that is some serious bullshit right there. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't met up with random strangers in my life. People that I knew nothing about and yet? I have an incredibly good friend in Italy who I talked to less than a dozen times via a web forum before I met her in person in Modena when I moved there. Diicks, party of NC.

And yes. It was totally LDY's incredibly flippant FLUCK YOU that upsets me the most.

While I get why the thread was wrong, I still wonder why someone brand new would want to meet up with a bunch of internet strangers.

ETA: I'm not picking on Steffi. I just would not feel comfortable trying to meet a bunch of you when I was brand new. It's more of an "I don't get it" than a "WTF is she thinking?"

Yeah I felt awful after reading that, she should've just said "I"m sorry I don't really know you" or something and not said that. Not that that was any better.

I get where she was coming from, she thought it would be nice to welcome LDY since she's moving to a new state and all. I would like to have a GTG but i'm worried that I am still considered new so it wouldn't be well received.

Hahaha, Snips, Nicki asked to carpool with me up to the NE GTG and we had never met or anything.  We met a few days beforehand so we both knew the other wasn't an axe murderer.  I'm glad we did.  We would never have had the awesome ride home to the Avenue Q soundtrack.

I ETAed my post. I am seriously not trying to backpedal. I've met a few ladies from here (and I met my H online), but it's just outside of my comfort zone to meet a whole group who know each other and have me be the newb. I am not picking on Steffi.

I kinda think some people around here grossly overestimate the number of female axe murderers in this country.

While I agree the comment was kinda douchey on LDY's part, I've seen a handful of threads in the past months that talk about GTGs.  Because they didn't pertain to me, I usually didn't read them, so maybe they were inviting everyone, idk.  But it's not like this is the first time there's been a batsignal GTG thread on here for people in a specific area.
  • Options
I said it in the thread and I'll say it here - I was being flippiant and just wanted to get my feelings of "ooh, I'm not cool with this" out fast enough. It wasn't nice. And I'm sorry. It was a bad choice of words.

Well, that would have made more sense. :)

I don't think anyone should be given shitt for not feeling comfortable meeting an internet stranger.

However, LDY, you could have said something else, like, "I don't think I know you well enough," or arranged to meet the other ladies a different time. It was just...bad.

Snips - I get it, I understand and explained where I was coming from (directed at that poster, not everyone) but to be fair, I was not the only one who thought her loans were outrageous for teacher's college and I was not the only one who stated so, but you seemed to only see my response.

Because this is a tricky group to break into. Because it feels like you know the regular posters better than they know you, and you're willing to put yourself out there to make friends. Because you like them from your (limited) experiences with them on the internet, and you want to get to know them better.
