Looking for a HM spot,,,

Hey NC peeps!

I need your help! I am looking for a nice place to spend a few days with my new husband after our June wedding. We'll be using any money we receive as wedding gifts to pay for the HM so I'm not sure how much $ I'll have to work with, but I'd like a quiet, relaxing area that isn't so "touristy".

Open to suggestions! Thanks :)

Have you been to the Outer Banks before?  There are lots of places you can visit:

Carova is the most northern part of the island and is only accessible by 4x4 and has very wide open beaches and wild horses roam freely.  It is very very private & quiet there....no paved roads, no stoplights....not even a stop sign.

Corolla & Duck are next on the list.  More populated, big family vacation spot and lots of $$$ everywhere.

Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills is considered the "original" Nags Head b/c that is where some of the oldest homes along the beach are located.  Much much more populated in this area with restaurants, shopping, etc.

Nags Head--again, highly populated and shopping, etc.  This is the "heart" of everything

    S. Nags Head--less populated, very wide and open beaches, shopping and restaurants about 5-10 mins away

Oregon Inlet--not much there except the Inlet itself where most of the charter boats come in at

Cape Hatteras--has the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, which is the tallest in the U.S. and was moved back from the oceans edge in 1999.  The lighthouse is open to the public and can be climbed for a small fee.  Hatteras in not as heavily populated as Duck & Nags Head, but still has lots to offer and is one of my personal favorite places to make a day trip

Ocracoke Island--you have to take the ferry to get there.  One of the oldest islands on the East Coast and there is a lot of history there....even tales of Blackbeard the Pirate :)  It's a smaller island but has some of the neatest little cottages & shops spread throughout.

So, now all you have to do is pick a spot!

P.S.  Carova is my absolute most favorite place!!  My brother lives there so I am fortunate to be able to travel there often and I highly highly recommend it.  There is a beauty in Carova that is unparallel to any other spot on the island....but I am just a tad biased ;)

Talk to the FI tonight and try to narrow it down and I'll see what I can come up with for you :)

How long are you going for?  Do you want a beach house or a hotel?  Any pets?

I would prefer a beach house. No pets. I'm thinking we may hold off until after "peak" to go, depending on what the rates look like. We'd be there for a week, hopefully.

Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send you the entire list that I have.  These homes range from 1-4 BR, some pet-friendly and some not, but you can go through the list and see if anything catches your eye :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ocracoke-- To me, it would be perfect for a romantic getaway.  It's almost like you're in another place & another time.

We are getting married on Ocarcoke in July of this year! It's not your traditional setting for weddings, and definitely hasn't been the easiest to plan, but we went there for our first vacation together, and he proposed last May while we stayed a beauitful house on the harbor, called On the Dock of The Bay! Loved every min. there!!! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-kiss.gif" border="0" alt="Kiss" title="Kiss" />
