Hey ladies! I'm glad to be back. Did yall miss me?!?!?! LOL...I promised I wouldn't be gone too long. Thank you for all the love and well wishes you all have given me. I read every single one of them....I do truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!
I'll get straight to the point...
Thursday was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. When we walked into the reception hall, the decorator had just finished putting together the tables. It was absolutely beautiful even without the centerpieces. Weather forecast stated weather would be perfect...a slight breeze and coolness for both days. And this was true. God just smiled upon us :-)
We had so much fun for the wedding rehearsal. Both sets of parents were so excited...you really could see the love, support and happiness in the room. The food and drinks were goot at Little River Inn in New Iberia (sometimes this place can be hit or miss, but it was good that night). We had a choice of Stuffed Fried Catfish, Grilled Chicken, Stuffed Shrimp, or Fried Shrimp with a Twice Baked Potato, salad, Tea, and homemade bread pudding with bourbon sauce. Full bar tab opened compliments of my Poppie.
Friday:
On Friday, I basically took my time. I had a hair appointment at 9am. She took 2 hours to curl my hair....Wow! But it came out great. One of my MOH brought me breakfast which was very sweet of her. After that, I ran a few more errands, then proceeded back home to gather my things to go to RVW Gardens.
I arrived at Cook's Cottage for 1pm. We were not due to be there until 2pm. I took this time to be alone and just taking it all it. I went to visit the Reception and Ceremony sites.....GORGEOUS yall! This was the only time I was able to see everything without all the people there. I didn't take pics though. Of course, I started working and then one of my MOH caught me...I got fussed at saying I should be resting and not to lift a finger....Yall know I have to be up in everything to make sure it's right LOL.
Anywhoo...I go back to the Cottage and lay down for a moment. Everyone starts arriving around 2:15pm. They are done getting dressed around 3:30ish. I start getting dressed around 4ish after the photographer arrives. The videographer arrives some moments later...maybe around 4:30ish. Photographer does bridal prep shots, praying shot, make up shots, etc, etc.
Wedding I'm assuming started on time for the most part at 6ish (I didn't have a watch). And YES.....we really did have a guest list and YES they actually took your name and made sure you were on the list! No one showed up that did not RSVP and we had several no shows that did RSVP (on a side note: Jay's aunt passed away the Sunday before the wedding so wake/funeral was on Friday and Saturday...reason for several no shows.) Sooo, it seems like my RSVP informational cards worked really well!!!! A++++ there!!!
Ceremony was just beautiful...I looked at no one else but Jerard. It was really like it was just me and him. My videographer was an eyesore. He will be in every single ceremony picture I am sure. I did not know this before so there is no hindsight but I would never hire him again and would advise others not to as well. He was very disruptive during the ceremony. Just sickening!!!!!! He's video better be good because he probably messed up all of our photography shots!
I personally think the ceremony wording was beautiful...Jerard and I did a Covenant Marriage which is different from a standard marriage. So, the wording of the cermony reflected that as well. You know I had my hand in that too and wrote some of what I wanted the preacher to say LOL!
Reception went well. We ate and ate and ate. We had butler passed items during cocktail hour and the main meal. We did all of the formal things (dance, cake cutting) all at one time. I think that was perfect because it allowed us to get all that stuff out the way to enjoy our guests!! We danced danced danced danced and I backed it up and dropped it like it was hot. Before all of that though...I changed into a short, white reception dress so I can get on the dance floor. We partied the night away.
Instead of a groom's cake, we did cupcakes and there was suppose to be homemade peanut butter candy but got lost in the shuffle. (not really...but we'll just go with that story!)
It was nice to see all of our family members and friends come together for this occasion. We are truly blessed!
Casey (Caseynmike---another Knottie) was there! We had so much fun and I was so happy and blessed to see her there!!!!!!!!! She probably can tell you more of the small details of how things went down bc I don't know :-( I must have held her hand for the longest going around all over the reception!!!! We took some pics in the photo booth and that was a ton of fun!!!! The photo booth was a huge hit. I thought since I had mostly older people there, they wouldn't get into it...but they did!!!! When they give me the go ahead, I will open it for all of you to see!
The most important thing that stands out was how happy Jerard was for us to be married. Everyone saw the love we have for each other...and that's why it's simply an Amazing Love!
