Anyone else NOT want a strapless wedding dress?

Is anyone tired of the strapless wedding dress trend and want something different? I’m a smaller-busted girl, and a strapless dress really does little for my figure. I love gowns with straps/sleeves.I want to feel comfortable on my wedding day, and I’ve never felt that strapless dresses were particularl comfortable.

What do you think? Did you go for a non-strapless dress?Obscene? Honestly? I think all three of the dresses are gorgeous and completely appropriate for a wedding. While I don’t like extremely low cut dresses, they look great with modesty pieces put in. I’m a B cup so not tiny but not big either. I think I look great in V-cut style tops because they give me a little cleavage without flattening my chest. I agree that big busts don’t look great in strapless. I don’t think small do either. Guess you have to be average to look great! Haha.

I thought I wanted a dress with straps, but fell in love with a strapless. I didn't think strapless dresses were that great either, but once I was laced into my dress, with a proper longline bra it fit so well, I was comfortable and it wasn't going anywhere.
But, still wanting some cover and a different look I bought I vintage style lace bolero with a slightly v-neck look to it.

There are a lot of dresses out there, with sleeves and without. You have to go try them on to know what is really going to fit your body and style.

I wore a relatively modest v-neck. I couldn't bring myself to consider wearing strapless anything into a Catholic church. NMS. Instead, I went for: (If you click on it, you can see it bigger)

I went into dress shopping wanting something WITH straps and a V-neck, sort of like you were describing. My chest is embarassingly small, and I didn't want a strapless dress to fall down or look silly. My friend convinced me to try one on, and I completely loved it. It fits really well and won't fall down. I'm glad I listened to her. Go into shopping with an open mind, you never know what you might actually like! But, if you do find a non-strapless dress that you love, go for it! There are some really gorgeous ones out there.

I have fallen in love with the halter type.  I don't like anything that actually had sleeves, and strapless i wasn't really comfortable in cause I was freaked that the girls would come tumbling out (i do have quite a large chest), and then i found the halter. I felt more secure with it, though i felt like I had the freedom of a strapless. If that makes sense :)

The dress I loved in pictures was a halter style, but it wasn't in the store I went to.  I didn't have a preference either way going into dres shopping, but there are plenty of brides who are anti-strapless.  I ended up getting a strapless dress, which was the 2nd one I tried on.  I got a sweetheart neckline though, which gives you the v-neck a little and is more flattering I think than a straight neckline.

I know many brides say that their reasoning for not wanting strapless is because they don't want to be pulling it up all night.  But I wore my dress for 10 straight hours full of dancing and walking through a state park for pictures, and didn't once have to pull up my dress.  If it is fitted properly to your body it will not fall down and will fit you perfectly.  It's not the same as buying a strapless dress from a store and not getting it fitted.

I went into the store saying NO lace, and I want strapless with no train and no veil-but when all was said and done, I'm wearing a vintage looking lace dress with straps that clasp in the back and have a portrait back and a train, with a blusher veil and a regular veil.
So even for someone who was definitely on the strapless bandwagon, I found something I liked much better.

    I don't want a strapless because I have a thing where head-shot photos look like you're naked.  I know that's weird, but I guess it's just a thing.  I don't like strapless anything.

Besides, I just like the look of lace straps and a keyhole back.  BF loves my back, so that's definitely a feature I want to highlight.  Like this: www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Lace-Cap-sleeve-Trumpet-with-Keyhole-Back-and-Sash-VW9768">LINK

I tried on every sort of neckline and ended up falling in love with a strapless dress.  My chest is kind of large (except it doesn't always look that way because I'm 6' tall) and when I tried on v-neck, especially halters, I felt like it looked kind of porn star.  Especially because I wanted a mermaid or trumpet gown since A-line wasn't very flattering to my figure.  I tried on a couple dresses with higher necklines, but they lacked my personality.  The minute I put my dress on I just knew it was the one.  We had to add an inch to the top because of my height and we had to order it in a special cup size but it covers everything and I don't feel like the girls are going to making any special appearances.  I am getting married in a fairly conservative church so I ordered extra yardage along with my dress and I am having a shrug/bolero made to wear during the ceremony.  Also, my strapless isn't just straight across, it is called a crescent and it comes up highest nearest my arms and then scoops down in the middle.  I love it!

Haha, no, that's funny!  I actually took a very long time to post from when I started writing, so the previous post hadn't been put up when I started.

That dress is very pretty, though I think I'm going to have mine custom made from an Etsy vendor.  It's around the same cost ($700) and very few if any alterations would need to be made.  Plus the artist in me likes the idea of being able to custom design the aspects of the dress.

I really didn't want  strapless dress for my wedding. I hate the weird armpit cleavage I've observed on some brides. That being said, the dress I ended up with is strapless. I tried it on and like someone said earlier with the proper fit and undergarments, it really does look stunning. SO I guess just try on a bunch of different styles. You might surprise yourself like I did or you might confirm that you do indeed hate strapless.

The armpit cleavage is a funny mental image... personally, I hate when a girl's back has bigger cleavage than her front.  But both of those are a factor of girls getting in shape and getting good tailoring for a proper fit.

I don't think i've seen many girls(even super thin) w/o the armpit or back cleavage. I hate strapless dresses and it seems like 99% of brides wear them. Unfortunatly, all the details i wanted in my dress only came on a strapless, but i'm getting straps added and the dress altered a little, because I was very detailed with what i wanted and my dress has it(aside for the straps), so once i add those straps, it'll be perfect :)

I'm with you on the naked head shots! My senior picture turned out that way (you know black v-neck drap the photog made us wear) I need straps!
