I swore I'd never...

.... check the weather forecast until a couple days out from my wedding because it's not like I can have a confab with Mother Nature to change it anyway.  Buuuuuuut, I just checked the 10 day forecast anyway (stupid rain...grumble grumble).

Now your turn: Things you'd swore you'd never do, but now you have to eat those words.

Go!

I swore I'd never be anxious to get married, just enjoy the ride and when it happens it happens, but now I find myself rather impatient!

I swore I'd never get married again after my divorce - just have long term relationships - obviously that did not last, but I'm thankful for that!

I always thought I'd never get married. I always thought I wasn't going to have a dress that was anything poofy (which my ceremony dress fell into what I thought I'd never get.) Before my last job I swore I wouldn't go back into property management. I did. This time I am hell bent not to go back into it again. I really hope I wont have to eat my words on that one.

This. Don't feel bad Kath, I swore I'd be done in 4 years, too. The first degree took 5 years and then I came back and finished a second which took a year. Now the Master's degree should take 15 months. I could be a freaking doctor at this point!

Besides the avg. time now to complete a 4yr degree, I believe is 5.5 years or so.

I always think "dang, if I wanted to be in school this long, I would have went to school to be a lawyer or something". I honestly think that one person in my graduating class has actually graduated college so far (it was Ms. most likely to suceed, of course) so I don't feel too bad.

I think everyone who drinks has used this line.

I actually did swear to stop drinking straight shots after first year uni. And I DID stop doing that <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" />

I swore I would never move to California because I am afraid of earthquakes - but here I am lol ;)

As for the rain thing - it's supposedly good luck on your wedding day ! In addition on my wedding day it hailed golf ball sized hail for about 20 minutes - then it sprinkled rain as we were doing the reveal and bridal photos but we ended up with a rainbow overlooking the bay and in our photos so dont worry too much!

I would actually love rain on my wedding day. I adore the rain, any time and I've seen beautiful photos with rain in the background. But people think I'm really weird for that.

Also, tafft I think that's really cute that you had a rainbow!

I was nicknamed "Ms. Never say Never" after FI and I started dating.  I had sworn for years that I would never date a smoker (again) or anyone who had cats...I have mild asthma and cig smoke is one of my top triggers and I'm allergic to cats.  FI smoked when we met (he quit in May - woohoo!) and he has 2 cats (I really did OK though when he brought Prince over the other night - a little itchy and a little bit of a stuffed nose - I can handle that).

As for rain at a wedding - I've also heard it's good luck...I've also heard that rain on a wedding day is happy tears of lost loved ones watching over your wedding day.  I keep telling FI he needs to talk to his mom in heaven and ask her to please not start crying until the ceremony starts...I'm going to have to walk a bit of a ways from one building where I'll be getting ready to the sanctuary for the ceremony with no cover.

Angie, for the cat allergies, try Zyrtec.  I was visiting friends in Cali and they had a cat, and my face puffed up and my eyes went red and my nosed got instantly stuffed.  She gave me a Zyrtec, and within a half hour, I kid you not, my allergies were GONE.  It's approved for daily OTC use for allergies, and it didn't make me even slightly drowsy!

I don't think that there is anything that I have sworn off of and gone against it... but I had the mother who said "never say never" and meant it, like I better not, or else.

I've said I'll never to any illicit drugs and haven't.  I'd never get another piecing about the industrial and haven't.

I've also said that I'll never date a...
smoker, a Steelers or Browns fan and I haven't... and since I'm marrying FI and intend to be with only him for. ev. er. I don't think this will be an issue.

One thing I recall my mother going on and on about years ago was how when I was little I used to tell people that I was going to be a veterinarian and was going to have a bunch of animals but not get married or have kids (didn't say never though, because Mom didn't believe in that as I mentioned before).  I was also a HUGE tom-boy at this stage and my mom was concerned that I might be a lesbian!  Hahaha!

My mom never wanted me to have to go to downtown Detroit or date a person from city X.

6 days/week I am in downtown Detroit either working or going to school.
FI has lived in city X his entire life, so have his parents.

Cate - I love Zyrtec.  I take it most weeks 4 or 5 out of 7 days (I figure once the cats move in I'll be taking it 365) - I hadn't taken one the other day when FI surprised me and brought Prince over - so I was pretty happy that I had such a mild reaction (of course, Prince didn't lay up on my pillow, but he'll probably get his butt busted if he does that).  I found a generic of Zyrtec at Sam's Club - around 300 pills for $17!
