Our bridal party consists of all our nieces and nephews, ranging in age from 4 to 8, so we wanted to do something a bit more "fun".  And we aren't into classical music.

We're planning on walking down to an instrumental version of "Here Comes the Sun", played by the cello/flute duo doing our music.  We both love the song, and the girls are wearing yellow dresses, so we think it fits pretty nicely :)

We're probably going to do "All You Need is Love" for the recessional.

You are pretty unlimited in your choices, depending on your ceremony location.  If you're getting married in a church they might have restrictions on musical choices...

That sounds like an adorable song for your wedding.

We are not getting married in a church, we are getting married in a ballroom at a Racetrack & Casino - so we can pretty much choose what we want. We just are not sure what that is yet. we are also trying to decide if it is - not sure if we want something different or something standard - or something American or in Spanish.

I've been leaning towards Canon in D because it is so beautiful though.

On youtube I have found that you can add "instrumental" after practically any song title (classical music or not), and a string quartet or other ensemble type rendition will come up.  I recommend trying that so that you can listen to some options and see what the two of you like.

I'm not exactly sure yet.  I know it will not be Canon in D and will be something instrumental.

omg jrp279 you are a girl of my own heart. i am quite obsessed with dave :)

I will probably be walking down to Trumpet Voluntary and the BP to Canon in D.  I might switch these but i'm not sure yet.  The reason I like trumpet voluntary is because the doors would open, and the very beginning is the trumpets blaring, and I would stand in the doorway with my dad for about 30 seconds until that part finishes and it transitions into the rest of the song.  I like the idea of standing for a little bit before walking.

I'm walking down to an all-piano instrumental version of Train's "Marry Me" (fitting because I've played piano since I was 7).  Our recessional is Michael Buble's "(Baby) You've Got What It Takes".  :)

ETA:  Oh!  And FI, our families, and the WP will be walking down to Uncle Kracker's "Smile" because it's goofy and I think it describes us perfectly.

JRP-we chose a DMB song too! Steady as we go.

I'm walking down to the traditional "here comes the bride".  It is what my mom, dad and FI want, and it doesn't really matter to me.  The bm's will be walking down to Canon in D.

JRP - Not sure yet.  FI is a HUGE dmb fan and great with music.  He will figure it all out.  I kind of want just an instrumental version, but the lyrics are so meaningful to use so we're not sure.  Either way, I can't wait!

That is a good idea - I didn't know that you could add the instrumental part.

My bridesmaids will be walking down to Cannon in D.
I will be walking down to a guitarist playing Train's "Marry Me." It sounds awesome when it's just instrumental.

This is the one really traditional aspect of our wedding. I'm walking down the aisle to Canon in D. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved that song and wanted to walk to it on my wedding day.

I took guitar lessons from 7-12 grade, and I've asked my guitar teacher to play the ceremony music for us! He will be playing Canon on his acoustic while the WP walks in, and switch to his electric guitar when it's my turn :)

Sparklingbride-  Same here...I just wanted the acoustic part but after hearing our friend SING and play it, we were just amazed and wanted both.  And like you said, the lyrics are so meaningful to us that we would like to share that with our guests!

FI and I were talking the other weekend at my cousins wedding and he was joking around (I think Wink)  He wanted to walk into "stairway to heaven" and then enter the reception to "highway to hell".  My aunts and uncles got a kick out of it, although it was just a joke.

Really, we haven't even thought about it.

The Royal Fanfare in the very beginning followed by the Wagner's Bridal Chorus with trumpets! Classy and very traditional!

I'm walking down to Canon in D. I'm still figuring out what our grandparents/parents and the bridal party will walk out to. It will be something classical as well though.

I'm leaning towards a traditional song for the walk down the aisle. As our first dance is a crazy, fun, totally non-wedding song, it is The Lonely Island's Two Worlds Collide.

thanks everyone you've given me some great songs to look into.

You can probably search for it on YouTube.  I think Chris Tomlin's version is along the lines of how they will sing it

Can someone fill me in on what "canon in D" is?

I'm walking down the aisle to Train's Drops of Jupiter. It's been my song since it was first played on the radio, and I've wanted to walk down the aisle to that song for as long as I can remember.

The bridal party will enter to either American Honey by Lady Antebellum or All Your Life by The Band Perry.
