Hi Brides!

We are planning to have a very jazz-inspired wedding with art deco themes. The ceremony and reception are in the same place and the venue has a beautiful terrace with vintage strung lighting for that intimate feel.  We are trying to come up with ideas to pull the theme together and are looking for any suggestions from other brides who have had 20s, 30s, jazzy weddings. Both of us have a sense of humor, so quirky ideas are not off the table!

    We set our reception up to feel sort of like a speakeasy...we had poker chips and decks of cards on all the tables and each table had a "theme" of a prolific figure from the 1920's (Al Capone, Babe Ruth, Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin, Josephine Baker etc.)...we also encouraged our guests to dress up and most of them did.

    Oh - we also hired dance instructors to come in and teach everyone how to do the Charleston and the Lindy Hop. Everyone who participated said they had a great time. It LOOKED awesome too.

    We rented a Rolls Royce for us to get around in. We also had a wedding cake with art deco influence decorations on it, used art deco themed fonts on our invitaitons (which you can see in the collage photo) and had centerpieces using lamps and flowers (mix of pro and guest photos).

    Look for old records and old instruments to decorate with. Watch old movies to get decor ideas. Also tap shoes to decorate with... maybe old pictures of ginger rogers & Fred doing a dance scene... Ostrich feathers.... maybe if you're doing a photo booth turn it into a 3 stooges booth, charlie chaplin and have people reinact different scenes that you pictured? decorate with bowler hats... I love it!!
