luxor vs excalibur???

I have a bunch of family coming in from England for the wedding and want to keep costs low. Any opinions on these two hotels Good or Bad. Reviews at IP scare me to much to stick them there even though is central. These are the next cheapest. Any one stayed?

I've stayed at both and Luxor is probably the nicer of the two but honestly I like them equally.  I love that Excalibur is a bridge away from NY NY (but they are both next to each other so location isn't a huge factor). I never spend much time in the rooms while in Vegas.  My FI has stayed at IP (where we'll be staying when we get married eta; in a deluxe room) and even though the rooms (he had a 'classic') are not decorated beautifully he said it was clean.  Good luck!

I haven't stayed in any of them, but I have heard from people I know that they prefer Luxor, mostly because Excalibur has a more "kid friendly" atmosphere. It seems like they are comparible aside from that.
I have heard mixed reviews on IP but I think you'll read mixed reviews about multiple hotels on the strip. Flamingo is near IP and I think their prices are reasonable, especially due to location. I'm considering them due to price and they have some updated rooms.
Have you looked at Flamingo? I am not sure how their prices compare to Luxor or Excalibur though... Good luck :)

I prefer Luxor.  If you don't care about the novelty of the pyramid, its side-moving elevators and hitting yourself in the head when you try to go look out the window, the Luxor tower rooms are nicer and cheaper.

I've been to both, but only stayed at Luxor.  IMO Luxor is a nicer hotel.

thanks reviews on tripadvisor do favor luxor. Any one know how much the resprt fee is?

The week of our wedding at flamingo prices average 150 a nught. next week average 60 a night, strange. After paying 1k for a flight you try to save as much as possible. Thanks again

I agree. I just didn't know what the difference was in cost so that's why I asked. I'm in that position as well - trying to save $20 here and there, etc. Everything counts! I've noticed the price jumps as well. I think it depends on the time of year, and when it jumps a lot from week to week it is most likely because a convention or some kind of event is occuring that week/end where they anticipate higher demand...

How many nights does everyone usually stay in Vegas? I want to have a nice time but I'm debating how many nights I want to stay overall because of cost as well (not only hotel cost but food per day, etc.)

Ive heard that with IP's room renovations you can book there and run the chance of getting a great room. But, I don't know how bad the non renovated rooms are so, I don't know if it's a chance I would take.

You'll get screwed out of $20/day minimum at Excalibur, Luxor or Mandalay since they're all part of MGM group.  For value and no resort fee, I personally prefer Flamingo, it has the side benefit of being central strip.

I think Excalibur renovated their rooms recently-- something to keep in mind. Luxor is okay, but it is a bit dark and dreary inside.

In my opinion, the Flamingo is the prime location on the Strip and has reasonable room rates with no resort fees.

I stayed at the Luxor last summer and it was nice. It was under construction though. The rooms were nice. My friends and I walked through the Excalibur and it seemed like a frat casino... they actually had beer pong tables you could bet on. LOL The Casino at the Luxor is nice too, the dealers are polite and helpful if you are new to a game. I dont really recomend Tacos & Tequila though... we ate there and I was NOT impressed.
