Where did you get your veil?

I'm dead set on having a mantilla veil, but really can't justify the 200.00 they charge for them at david's bridal. They're on ebay for dirt cheap...which isn't very comforting because I'm assuming they're poor quality. Has anyone gotten a veil from ebay or another similar website?

You can rent various shorter veils from Rent the Runway starting at $20. Here's a referral code that you can use to save $20 if you're interested in renting. They have jewelry, sashes, and lots of dresses, too.

I'm going without. I know it's not traditional, but I saw it as unnecessary...just something to get lip gloss on if the wind blows!

I made my fingertip veil.

You can check out Etsy or you could talk to a seamstress and see about her making it for you if you supply her with the materials.

Do you know know anyone handy with a sewing machine? Or know a local seamstress who can make one if you provide the supplies (tulle is about $1/yard)?

I didn't have anything. My veil was a single tier raw cut edge fingertip length veil. About as simple as you can get. Here is a better picture...

You could also do something as simple as a drop veil.

You could easily make this yourself if you don't want any embellishments. It is basically a round circle of tulle draped over your head. You could gather it a bit with a small comb at the crown of your head but typically it just sits over your head without anything keeping it in place.

@shrekspeare - I have tons more (like 998 more)! It was just putting them on that wedding bio was kind of a pain in the butt for some reason. Probably because the size they are file wise is huge.

I'm wearing my mom's veil. Surprisingly, even though she didn't have it heirloomed, it's in great shape and not yellowed. Do you have any friends or family you could borrow a veil from?

My mom made mine for like $10. She took some online class and just put it together. She sewed this 'ribbon' I bought at Hobby Lobby (that had little tulle flowers and faux pearls on it) to the edge, which I then jazzed up with rhinestones and more faux pearls.

Single layer, fingertip veil on a comb. The nice thing is the materials are cheap enough that you can play around with ideas and not get upset about ruining something "expensive".

I made mine also. For the tulle and the comb I spend $10-$13. It took me a half hour to get it attached to the comb but it was perfect.

I tried on a few at the consignment store that I got my dress at but they were a little tooo vintage for my taste. I live in a pretty small town and we pretty much have a goodwill and that's it. I'll have to check some in the city soon.

I just ordered mine from Amazon. IF it doesn't work out, there's a shop near me that is very very reasonable that I will go to (the lady basically buys samples from stores and sells them -- just like 'Vows' on 'I found the gown', but a different shop).
