Boob Issues

Just wondering if anyone else ran into this when trying on dresses. I have no boobs, and by no boobs I mean filling out an A cup is not happening. I love it to be honest and wouldn't change it.. but when trying on dresses they have such HUGE boob areas they were stuffing all these cup things into it to make it work and trust me, it's not working. They also kept up with the comments about "we can have these put into the dress so you don't have to wear a bra".. well thanks but I already don't wear a bra and I don't want to look like I got a 5 minute boob job at my wedding, I have embraced the fact I have nothin there and would like to keep that going!

So my question is HOW in the world can you even tell what these will look like on a flat chested gal!?

I did not have this problem, so I can't offer up my personal experience, sorry.

The bridal store should be able to clip the dress in the back to give you an idea of what it will look like.

    I kinda had this problem.  I think I'm just barely an A Cup, although Victoria's Secret claims I'm a B or a C. . . I call bullshit!

I'm pear shaped, so I had to order my dress to fit my hips, but that meant the boob area was WAAAY too big.  My dress had a keyhole opening in the back, so I couldn't wear a bra- which I normally do to give the appearance of tits, lol.  The entire bodice of my dress had to be altered, including adding cups, but in the end my dress fit like a glove.

You just need to find a good seamstress to do your alterations, but bear in mind you might have to pay extra if your alterations are going to be very involved.

I'm dying at the phrase "five minute boob job."

    I can't really help.  Sorry =/

Don't buy one until you've actually spoken to a seamstress and  he or she's either seen you in it in person or has seen good pictures of the area and the seams of the dress and stuff. You'll need to be very sure that he or she can make the necessary alterations without changing the look of the dress if it's a concern.

Definitely. And (speaking from unfortunate experience) make sure you're asking the seamstress, not just the sales associate. Also, don't be afraid to speak up and tell them that you don't want cups and ask them to clip the dress so you can see how it fits in the front.

(Also, sorry about that gender business, I don't think "seamstress" and "he" go together, lol. That's what I get for trying to be inclusive.)

Thanks ladies for all of the input! I am looking at a designer that makes the gown to your measurement so alterations wouldn't be the issue, it's more seeing these enormous tatas in the mirror in the dress and going "holy crap, that's so not me" so it's hard to get a feel for "what will this look with nothing". I am a street size 0 so even with the clips (lots of them) they were still HUGE in that area.. glad to hear I'm not the only one though! Just thought it was an interesting experience and reassured me that no, boots are not for me!

@PrettyGirlLost: my best friend just got married and is your exact shape, she had the same issue with alterations! I think I'm so used to not having any that even when I wear my itty bitty bras it looks like too much on me!

I'm pear shaped, I have little boobs and a big ass/hips.  They are making my dress to my measurements and putting in a slight cup just to make my boobs look nice.  They had to clip me a LOT into the dress

I'm a proud life long member of the itty bitty tittie committee. I often don't wear a bra. But I did at my wedding because it ended up looking better with the dress. I didn't do a traditional wedding dress (I bought it from modcloth), so I don't really have experience there. But don't be afraid to speak up and say "I don't want my boobs to look bigger on my wedding day, I'm good with them". The goal should be to make the dress fit you, not make you fit the dress.

Ugh, I wish that would have been an option for me!

My alterations were almost half the cost of the actual dress ><  I could have shopped around for a better price, but my salon has a reputation for doing really, really good alterations.  I just had no idea how $$$$$$ they were, doh!

My alterations were more then the price of my dress...if that makes you feel any better.

I'm so sorry.  Did your dress fit like a glove though?  Were you happy?

I don't know why I expected this thread to be more along the lines of "There is something weird happening with my boobs, guys! Issues!" Like... maybe they had weird lumps, or were growing tentacles or something. I don't know. I'm really sleep-deprived today. 1.5 hours after working for like, 18 hours including the work I did at home, just does not cut it.
I kind of expected this too. Then I remembered this actually a wedding forum so sometimes questions about weddings happen. In between the porn, the sex, body issues, life budgets, food and booze talk.

Sorry to disappoint ladies, no man hair or antlers growing out of my tatas!

Honestly I would probably direct the search toward dresses that already have less structure in the bodice, so it doesn't look like giant mixing bowls protruding into the air. With more of a slip-style dress, you'll be able to pull it in and see what it will look like, there won't be pre-molded gaps of air needing to be filled with cutlets, and alterations won't cost quite so much.

Yes it was fantastic and I've worn the dress again! Plus my dress was under $200 so it wasn't too insane. When I was paying for the alterations I was just like "That is more then the dress..."

Giant mixing bowls.. you NAILED IT! I tried on some more sleek fitting dresses but wasn't loving it.. I'm 5' and 100lbs so it just made me look a little like I was "playing dress up" if you catch my drift.. I think I'm just going to have to judge off the top of a bridesmaid dress I wore, I love this type of top so I guess deal with mixing bowls in the store and know it will look like this in the end?

I got my dress at Kleinfelds and while they have to order it in a size, they also took all my measurements and basically custom make it to fit and then can altar it once it comes in.

THIS is kind of what I'm leaning toward.. I'm looking at Casablanca and they make according to your measurements.. might be my best bet!

Well, unfortunately this means that you can't be a part of this community. We have a strict weird boobs only policy here.

P.S. I like you. Pretty please can you change your name to something other than Knottienumbers so that I can tell you apart from all of the Knottienumbers' that I don't like?

I kind of have the opposite problem. Whenever I really liked a dress, I would look at it online and wonder how the hell my boobs would fit into it without falling out because most of the models in the dresses were really small chested. Maybe you can do that. Look at the dress online and if it looks good on a small chested model, then chances are it will look good on someone else who is also small chested.

To be honest I'm really jealous. I'm tiny (5'1" and like 102 lbs) and suddenly in my 20s my boobs grew without my permission (wtf no one ever told me that could happen without gaining weight!) so now I'm a D. Some of the dresses I really loved got nixed because they were too low-cut and looked too trampy with how much cleavage I have. I think you have very good odds of looking really good in most dresses.

@novella1186: that is kind of funny but I bet you rock those jugs and look fabulous in a wedding gown! And thank you for the words of encouragement.. it's kind of hard being in your late 20's and being built like a 12yr old.. makes everything look like you are trying to be older if that makes sense?

My dress is a sheath style, I'm a C cup and I am having the top altered because I do not fill it out.

However, once she pinned it back I could see exactly how it will look once altered. Super helpful to get the real visual.

That style may work for you, too. Keep trying all kinds on!

I totally have this problem too!  I think you can find a flattering dress that you may not even need cups for.  My dress has straps and a flattering v-shape ruffle/foldover type thing going so it totally works with my less-than-A bosom.  The seamstress was going to sew in cups but for the final fitting when we placed them it looked ridiculous and super-padded, so I opted out and will not be wearing a bra.  From the side it looks good and natural, not flat at all.  I would probably stay away from strapless if I were you.

Here's a photo - of course, the model is much curvier than I am.
    Good luck!

Your dress is beautiful! I did try on some with straps but probably not the "right" ones, they were much more elegant and not really me at all.. I'm with you on the "ridiculous and super-padded" if you have them to push up the cups can work, if there's nothing there to being with then we are back to the "5 minute boob job".
