Hello! We have been in touch with Dare County and it is legal in NC to have a friend or family member become ordained to officiate the ceremony. Has anyone done this before? We're having a private ceremony (2 witnesses & a friend to officiate) and want to make sure we go through the process correctly. Not to mention it saves about $3-500! I know we'd have to turn in the paperwork after it's done but I'm curious to see if anyone else has gone this route.
