rant time I put in for a half day today so that I could leave early and I'm just leaving work now 2 1/2 hours after I should have because apparently the office cannot function without me being there

@speakeas14 - Ugh, that sucks. I'm sorry. I've given up taking 1/2 days at work, honestly. There is no point. If people see you in the morning, they assume you will be around in the afternoon. If you say you are taking the morning off and coming in for the afternoon, they assume they can email you all their stuff in the morning and of course you'll have time to address a day's worth of work in 1/2 a day.

I don't remember who coined it...maybe @loves2shop4shoes? Essentially when a BSC person comes on here and tells us "Ooooh, my birthday is coming up. My BF and I have been together for 6 months too! He said he got me something "really special" for my birthday....do you think it is the RING?" regulars calm the OP down by letting her know she is getting a pony instead for her birthday. Makes total sense after all, ponies are way cooler than engagement rings.

I was new here/lurking/it was before my time, so I don't recall the full background story of the engagement ponies. I just remember engagement ponies being a part of normal discussion here. I imagine it stemmed out of a post from someone actively planning a wedding but claiming they weren't engaged, and then getting super defensive when we commented. The current regs who were regs back then may remember.

I'm jumping in here to say that the Christmas before H & I got engaged, he told me he got me a pony, and I almost peed my pants. I was convinced he had seen/heard a conversation about engagement ponies.

I didn't get a ring OR a pony that Christmas.

This, andplusalso, in my head, I've always related it to the phrase, "When you hear hooves, think horses not zebras." Well.... when your BF says, "I got you a really awesome birthday gift," think ponies, not engagement rings

I've never heard that phrase before @TwoDimes but LOVE it. Totally stealing it for the next time H has a completely illogical reaction to something (ie, "This spot on my arm is new, do you think it's cancer minskat?"). Shouldn't take long to use it in this household.

@QueenOfGlitz hi! I'm sorry you are getting a hard time from others over on CC (I did lurk and thought they were being really harsh with all of the drilling over there to make sure you weren't a catfish), but knowing what went down I can kind of see why they are wary of new posters. Anyways, I believe you are real. Also, NEY rocks, so hang around with us

Okay, to answer questions:

If you could travel to the past, what year would you travel to? I really have no idea. I tend to romanticize the past and then reality hits and I realize I really don't want to live in those eras for any amount of time.

What is your favorite historical place? I have to pick just one? Well I always found Saratoga National Battlefield to be cool, so I guess I will go with that one.

If you could travel 30 years into the future what do you hope you'll see? No more working people on welfare since they can't make a decent wage, no more extreme religion in politics, more maternity/paternity leave and vacation time for Americans, and everything powered by renewable energy sources.

Okay, no that that's over with, life updates. FI seems to be doing better, though he was sore yesterday and still a little sore today. He took my car while I stayed home yesterday and worked from home while the repair guys came to look at the fridge. The repairmen found nothing wrong with it, and the fridge wouldn't make the noise while they were there. 2 hours after they left it starts making the noise again >:(. It seems to be working though so for now I guess we will just have to live with it.

The only other update I have is that my new setting came in today!!!!!!!!!! I went to the jeweler on my lunch break and they reset my diamond and reappraised it. I AM IN LOVE WITH IT. It's everything I wanted and more and it's perfect. FI hasn't even seen it yet:

And bonus picture with the matching wedding band that also arrived today. I can't wait to get to wear them both together!
