Outdoor Reception Lighting

We have searched and searched for an answer and can't find it anywhere! We are getting married in my parents yard which has tons of trees and space. We are trying to figure out how high up to put the lights? We would like them to put off plenty of light to see well throughout the night, but not too low for someone to run into or hit. HELP PLEASE!!!!

    String lights work well in this situation.








    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    I would put them no less than 10 feet above the ground at the lowest point. Think about your tallest guest throwing their hands up in the air and jumping around on the dance floor. Go at least a foot or two above what you think that would be. And account for sagging if you use string lights.
