Hello from vacation and isolation. We’ve come to the realization we won’t see anyone on Christmas. I knew it was likely but we still have symptoms so seeing anyone is out of the question. I’m bummed but on Bing Crosby this morning and we Instacarted some hot chocolate and we’ll make the best of it.

Exactly! Like I get it’s a bummer but seriously it’s so much worse for us, the ones that are sick and have a sick baby. If we could make plans we absolutely would.

Good call on leaving early @short+sassy, less hectic schedule it seems.

Yesterday was an ugly sweater, potluck, wrap a red gift for my meetup group and it went well.  A nice crowd of ladies. I made grape jelly meatballs which were a hit.  Two other ladies also thought of bath & body works, but just a small collection spread. My box had one of everything they offered in champagne toast. I think the lady liked it. I got a pink tool kit as my gift.  I love it! ‘Cept I already own one.  Exact one but smaller - but in pink. I will probably give my smaller version away to my friend. I like this set better

tonight is my relaxation night.  Me and new guy have “cooled off” our PDA and basically DA’s.. so I’m not sure where we are emotionally, but we still text daily.  I’m going to suggest dinner at my place tomorrow since we both have Friday off. If we don’t rev up the passion (and I think he might have some “seasonal” depression around this time of year with no family around) it’s probably over between us

Today is my last "real" day of actual academic work.  Tomorrow school is in session but it's an easy day.  I finally got my Covid test yesterday.  It seems a lot of teachers complained because the superintendent sent a memo that when testing resumes after the break, there will be a separate line for teachers who want a quick test between classes.  

On the homefront I'm officially done wrapping.  The kids told me that they want to paint snowman seashells with some of their shell collection to give our family for Christmas.  It's a nice idea and they're just a year or two away from that being an independent, don't-need-Mama's-help activity.

@MissKittyDanger saw your post yesterday, my kids' Christmas Eve boxes include jammies, a hot cocoa bomb, a fun hot cocoa stirrer (they're at Trader Joe's, Homegoods, etc.), kettle corn kernels so we can pop their fave popcorn, slips of wrapping paper so they can wrap their sibling's gifts, and these awesome Melissa & Doug sticker scenes so they're out of my hair for some a bit while I'm doing Christmas Eve/Day cooking.

DH WENT BACK TO WORK THIS MORNING!!! WAHOOO!  He was hoping to be back on Monday, but his drug screen results were delayed (they were really busy when he went in last week).  Plus I think end of year slowness was afoot with people being on vacation. But he's back, baby! He was up early all excited.  LOL 

There are two supervisors in today out of the normal 10+ management members that are over our department.  Also, a decent amount of our team is out too.  It's so quiet. I love it, but I also don't want to work.  Just biding my time until 4:30p tomorrow. 

I can't believe that I feel like I have an actual handle on Christmas stuff, presents and food.  Just a few more things to do and pick up.  I'm knocking on all the wood because I'm sure after saying that, I'll remember something I forgot. 

SSDD otherwise.  Waiting for the long weekend. 

Chiquito remains fever free!

The cough lingers and I have him seated upright on the couch.  The last thing I want is for him to get a secondary pneumonia from this.  @levioosa, covid aside if we can get the cough managed and there's no temp then he shouldn't be spreading this, right? 

I think my mom may punk out on Christmas regardless of the scenario.  She's starting to complain about long car rides even though my brother or his FI would be driving (and they're big dudes with big cars and big back seats).  It's frustrating me that she knows that her joints are an issue, a two story house is an issue and living far from me is an issue and she's made no effort to look for a place that is going to be more suitable to her aging.  I really really really don't want to exercise my POA because then they'll never forgive me but I don't see how what they're doing is sustainable long term.  If I continue to see what she's doing in 2021 with no progress I'm debating consulting with an attorney on my own because I think my mom's paralyzed by fear.  I don't want to hurt her and I also fear that there's going to be a day that she's stuck on the floor and neither she or my dad are OK. 

Today is my weekend! I’m up and at ‘em early, loading up my car. Today is just going to be me and my dad chilling and wrapping gifts and I can’t wait. He, on the other hand, is carrying on like Christmas is the worst most stressful thing. Sir. I’ve literally done all the work for you, am bringing all the food, doing all the cooking, and sent you carefully curated gift lists for the whole family. Your only tasks were 1- buy milk and 2- schedule an extra house cleaner visit. Sigh. But he’s otherwise great so I’ll stop whining now. 

Thanks for asking about this @missJeanLouise.  Remembering all this stuff is so comforting and has made me smile today.
