My mom came in yesterday to stay all week and play preschool with G so H and I can work this week.  I'm so thankful.  His 5 day post-exposure test was negative so just hoping we can all stay healthy enough to our immediate families next week for Christmas. 

I just finished reading Monday and I'm so sorry for everyone else dealing with COVID stuff right now.  Like Varuna said, it's incredibly frustrating that it seems like the people who have been the most careful are now starting to be infected too. Hope everyone can stay healthy or has mild symptoms if not.  

I have to finish a few returns and gift purchases this week and then i'm all set for Christmas.  What's up this week for everyone?

@mrsconn23 that sounds like a great weekend.  And yeah R sounds like she’s warming up so she can get some intel when needed.  Glad you had a good weekend though!

i felt super accomplished myself.  I wasn’t going to put up my tree, but on Saturday, decided last minute to decorate with a tree/village/wreaths etc.  i cleaned my place up, made some chili mac for dinner and then new guy came over.  We had dinner and saw the new Sandra Bullock movie on netflix (the unforgivable), which was REALLY good, we put on SNL and he just crashed.  He worked that day and was out of it.  No hankey pankey and when he left Sunday I immediately texted my friends and was panicking that he lost interest in me and the spark was gone and it was probably over. I over anylize EVERYthing.  Like.. everything.  Anyway we talked last night and he seemed to he ok and wanted to see me again, so I know I have to up my game next time we’re together or the spark WILL be gone. I’m horrible at showing interest/flirting.  I’m so bad at being romantic. 

hi all!  I've been MIA, mostly I just get busy in the mornings and forget to check in - sorry!!  hope I haven't missed any important updates and everyone is doing well. 

I ended up testing postive for covid about a week and a half ago. I had cold symptoms but then noticed my sense of smell went away so I tested to be safe and got a positive. I've felt like I have a bad cold and then bad sinus infection, starting to be a little better now but still feel not amazing.  Despite DS being all up in my bizness all the time he tested negative 3 times on three different types of tests.  He had cold symptoms too and has generally been grumpy but never a fever or loss of smell for him.  Unfortunately because he was never positive he was home for my 10 day quarantine and now starts his own 14 day quarantine from school. Daycare is closed from December 23 through Jan 3rd so he's basically home for an entire month. It has gone as well as can be although I think of all of the things I needed to have done for Christmas and realize lots isn't happening because what few breaks I get from DS I'm either working or too tired to do anything

Thank you! Thankfully he just has a runny nose. Running around and playing completely normal. 

Happy Friday, I’ve been working from home this week because my MIL tested positive for covid last week. She got it pretty bad but is on the way to recovery now thankfully.

 

It has been a long week since I am home with my 2 year old and also on school pickup/dropoff for my older while trying to maintain work productivity.

 

I am thankful I have the ability but also looking forward to the regular routine again of childcare and some facetime in the office.

I'm so glad it's Friday.  This week has kind of been a bust for me all around.  I've got some fun plans for this weekend though and hopefully that'll kind of help me reset a bit.

I went and spoke with my manager at the end of the day.  She has been respecting the new boundaries I've previously requested (I've been relieved of all additional responsibilities I had been....well, forced into.  The software is finally live, so I no longer have that responsibility).  I requested to have all of the litigation cases I have with problem attorney reassigned and no more new ones with him, with an explanation of why.  She has agreed and that will be done next week. 

So, I'm willing to keep trying right now, b/c basically I'm back to the position I was fine with before I stuck my neck out in August of last year.  That was obviously a decision that didn't work out for me, but previous to that I didn't have many issues beyond what any workplace I've been in has (it is a shit show here, but I've stood outside of it for the rest of the time I've been here).  I'm giving it 2 months to see how it works out.  There are things here that are really good for me and as long as my boundaries are respected, I think some time to see if it works out is easier for me in the long run.  I think my manager has my back and is trying to work with me to keep me here (TBH, they really can't afford to lose anyone, but definitely not anyone like me).

For those who don't necessarily see it, the reason LW is bringing up the pronouns it b/c, whether LW realizes it or not, LW sees their gender identity as being under attack by being mistaken for someone who is openly transgender (non-binary falls under the transgender umbrella in the LGBTQ+ community).

That's why LW is making the pronouns matter.  

Funny enough, it's always cis people doing things like this and making the point that using people's correct pronouns is important to people.  If it wasn't, LW wouldn't be so uncomfortable being called "they" instead of "she".  That's always why the behavior is transphobic.

My gripe is - we’re having brunch today instead of lunch.  All because ONE person wanted breakfast instead.  Ugh.  I’m a yogurt in the morning, lunch & dinner person.

The other day I found a hidden lounge area in one of our office building hallways.  Comfy chairs/couches, vending machines and a gorgeous view of outside. I think I’m going to take a break there daily.  To clear my mind. Or take naps. 

Therapy. Fat phobia is real and it's incredibly harmful. But the counterpoint of extreme body positivity that rejects all weight loss isn't helpful either. Offering unsolicited advice on whether or not she should have the surgery is about as helpful as telling her that she should lose weight. It's not your body; it's not your decision. 

It's entirely possible that her surgery can be triggering to your ED. That's a you issue that you need to learn to address with healthy coping mechanisms and limiting your exposure. I agree that people spend way too much time talking about food, diet and weight, but you're not going to change that about your ILs. You can align your partner to help you change the subject or even straight out tell them that the conversation is uncomfortable for you. Beyond that, you politely excuse yourself. 

If you're close to your SIL, have a conversation about it.
