Name Your Favorite Wine & Cheese!

edited June 2014 in Not Engaged Yet

So H and I are going to a wine & cheese couples party this weekend. We've been asked to bring a bottle of wine or a cheese. Of course I want to bring both! Wondering if you ladies have any awesome recommendations? Do you have a favorite bottle of wine? Do you have a cheese you just can't pass up? I'd love to get some fun new ideas and try something different. Here are two H & I love and may bring:

Cheese: BellaVitano Espresso (we get it at King Soopers, also think Costco has it)

Wine: 2010 Chambourcin Reserve from Port of Leonardtown Winery (we got this on our last trip to Maryland)

Re: Name Your Favorite Wine & Cheese!

  • I'm not much for fancy cheese, but my favorite wine is Primo Amore moscato.
  • I would bring cheese.  I think monterey jack, muenster, swiss, cheddar (mild), mozzarella, colby jack, etc. are amazing.  Because I like cheese too much I can't swing for fancy cheese because I will go broke.  The fruit and cheese tray at our wedding was like heaven to me.

As for wine, I like cabernet sauvignon :)  I'm easy to please.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • My favorite cheese Wensleydale cheese with cranberries.

My favorite wine is a soft red wine from a local winery where we live.  Anything red and sweet is good with me.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Cheese: I love a good goat cheese.

Wine: La Crema Chardonnay...nice and creamy

  • I don't play favorites when it comes to cheese.

For wine, I like malbec or sauvignon blanc. I can't do anything sweet.

Cheese: FI LOVES a really old Gouda...think aged for 5 years. It gets all crystalized near the rind and has a really nutty flavor.

Wine: One of my go-tos lately has been a Malbec by Layer Cake. I also love red blends and petit syrah. One stand out for me was Stag's Leap Petit Syrah.

  • I love a good brie with a fresh fruit compote, or a baked brie in a pastry puff. And Manchego...mmmmm or an irish cheddar with the little crunchy crystals. I love all cheese just about. I'm weirded out by blue cheese though. It's a little too 'stinky feet' for me.
As far as wine goes, a good Malbec is what does it for me.

  • The last time I went to a party like that there was a baked brie with a raspberry chipotle sauce...YUM

I also like a semi hard with pretty much anything in it (rosemary, coffee, cranberries, etc)

As for wine I am a red girl.  I love a Barbera, a spicy Primitivo or a big bold old vine Zinfandel.

If you have a Whole Foods near you, you really can't go wrong!

  • Um... does Velveeta count? :-P

I'm not big on cheese, so yeah, no real preference there. I've been lactose intolerant-ish for a while, so I stay away from a lot of cheese.

I love all wine. For realz. I don't discriminate at all.

  • Cheese: Just about anything. We just did a at-home date night and tried some new cheeses. I fell in love with Mont Amore.

Wine: Sun-kissed by Hermes Vineyard in Ohio, I'm also a sucker for a good Riesling. Malbec is my my fave red wine.
