My boss's boss was arrested this morning on ten counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor.  We Googled it, and it's child pornography.  Local news van was in the parking lot, it's currently the lead story on their website.  "Detectives said the men were in illegal possession of child sex abuse images that are heinous in nature and all involved children."  HR called us all in one by one and said if anyone in the media contacts us, to refer them to our HR director, period.

I kind of want to throw up.

    You know, one day he was in my office discussing an order, and before he left he looked around and said "You don't have any pictures of your kids?"  At the time I felt kind of bad about it--they're all on my phone and sometimes I feel guilty about not doing anything with them.  Now I just want to retch.  I really hope it was just chit-chat.

    HR just sent an email, and the birthday brownie meeting for July birthdays is canceled this afternoon...

    Suddenly Knotting at work isn't so bad...

    We had a murderer at my old job LONG before I started working there.  Some guy killed a child and hid his or her body and the police pieced together it was that guy that did it.  It was a huge news story.

    did you know this dude? was he a giant weirdo? was anyone surprised? what job did he do?
    what happened to the person that took over for that dude? i mean, what an answer to the question "why is this job vacant!"

    And yet, people want to bash the police because they're not running enough traffic, or too much traffic, or they're harassing my (insert family member) or they take too long to respond to (insert petty nuisance offense here).  One thing I've learned in my years in LE, the firemen get all the respect.

    Sorry @hmonkey, I honestly don't know much.  I wasn't living in the city and I was younger when it happened so the news story wasn't even on my radar.

    From what I have heard he was pretty 'normal' and everyone was in shock.  I don't really want to say what he did because google searching like you said, but he worked on the floor with other people.  It isn't like he was isolated or offsite.  I don't even know how it all went down: like, I think he disappeared and days later the media broke the story and everyone recognized him.  His work PC was seized for evidence, I remember someone telling me.  I'm guessing he was arrested at his home.

    ugh.  Yay for catching the bastards, I guess

    (the guy who worked where I do, different area, who my boss disliked from day 1 was arrested a year+ ago for trying to cross the damn border w/ a minor.  Apparently he thought he could hide w/ her in Canada?  Makes me distrust the world even more)
