Also, I worry that bacon may have jumped the shark

Re: Also, I worry that bacon may have jumped the shark

  • Mmmmm, the wholesome taste of tub frosting, mrsButterworth and BacOs

Because you know there ain't a molecule of natural non-synthesized compounds in that tub.

Well, maybe a few microorganisms if you sneeze on it.

  • This is horrifying. Ironically, the Mussorgsky Reese's commercial was playing when I saw this....how appropriate.
  • I picture MIL using this to be "hip."
  • Bacon flavored shit has jumped the shark.

But bacon in it's purest of pure form is still safe.  Ohh bacon.

Also, when I first read the title of this post, I thought you were talking about @baconsmom for some reason and I was thinking, "Why would Heff think that?"  LOL

That was my thought when I saw the big "ARTIFICIALLY FLAVORED" on the front of the label.  Fake maple + fake bacon = real disgust.

Now that I'm watching everything DS eats so closely, it's been a revelation.  Dairy in Nutrigrain bars but not the Gerber Graduates cereal bars.  No dairy in one brand of "creamy" tomato soup (it looks like they've substituted vegetable oil and rice flour for dairy) but milk is the first ingredient in another brand, and so on.

I was at the store reading labels and caught myself holding them further and further away from my face.  Ugh, I'm going to be 40 next summer.  :\

  • Heffa, when I was trying to cut dairy out of my diet, I discovered the same thing.  And all of the "secret' words for dairy.  The whey was always killing me.

Whey is DS's #1 trigger, and you're right, it's in everything.  I bought cupcakes for lunch with my mom tomorrow, and I literally could not find any that didn't contain whey and/or "milk solids."  Luckily he's little, so I can give him a graham cracker and he'll be happy.

If you have an occasion that you want to go to the effort for the kid to have a cupcake or something, look around for a vegan bakery or at the health-food store in the vegan section.  That way you know that there's no milk/whey/other byproducts.
