Children's names on seating chart

Mainly I am asking about the toddlers or younger.  Ones that will obviously be sitting with parents in high chairs or booster seats.   Do I need to make a seating assignment card for them in addition to the parents?

Re: Children's names on seating chart

  • Are you doing assigned seats or just assigned tables? If you are doing seats you should make cards for them. If you are just doing assigned tables I don't think it matters.

  • Are you doing a card for each person or as a group?

For example all the weddings I've gone to do cards as a couple or family.   So it would say either  Mr and Mrs John Smith,  John and Jane Smith, John Jones and Jane Smith or The Smith Family. If the kids are not sitting with their parents then they would get their own card.     In your case the card would say The Smith Family.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • We had two toddlers at our wedding and we made them their own escort card. The parents were on a card together.

  • I didn't make them for toddlers.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • For toddlers (ages 5 and under), I put the whole family under one card.  For example, my aunt and uncle with their 3 year old daughter, I put "Aunt & Uncle Last Name Family"
  • We did individual escort cards so even the children got their own. They were boxes of chocolates though so I didn't think anyone would want to share.

  • If you're seating them with their parents and just preparing one card per couple, I'd add their kids' names to that one card, but if you're doing cards individually, then I'd prepare a card for each child as well.
  • Our ring bearer was 5 and the youngest at our wedding.  All guests including kids got their own escort card.

  • We had bags of chocolates attached to the escort cards, so everyone got their own (including toddlers). The kids also had activity bags attached to their card so they had things to do at the table. Our venue also wanted the kids 10 and under to have a different color card so we could be charged appropriately (since kids were half price).

    We did one per family.

    "Jon and Jane Doe

    Susie Doe

    Table No. 1"

Unless of course the kids were in their late teens or older.

Our escort cards were also our favors though (Mexican tile coasters), so I'm pretty sure toddlers and babies didn't want their own.
