That's right. I used y'all in a sentence.

Finally back and settled after a week in Austria. The trip went really well - got to meet one of my dissertation committee members and do a lot of scope work with him and his assistance. Their SEM (scanning electron microscopy for those who aren't science nerds) lab makes me super envious - makes the one we have here at our research lab look like a relict from the Stone Age.

Around the hours on the scope, got to do some sightseeing, some shopping, and some eating. I forgot how good European bread and chocolate were.

Only downside - I got really sick my third day in and was relatively miserable for the duration of the trip. Low grade fever, chills, SPLITTING headaches, screwed up eyes...by the last two days, I was getting naseous from the headaches, to where all I could stomach was bread and Coke. Went to the docs as soon as I got back - massive sinus infection and pink eye. HTF do you get pinkeye at the age of 27?!? ::headdesk::

Anyways, I'm back. Taking a temporary hiatus from lab work to prep for the wedding (it's crunch time, baby!). I'll try and pop in here every day and keep y'all updated on progress.

So, what did I miss last week? How did Angie's wedding go? Any new photos/DIY/wedding details worth AWing? Any updates in general? Any newbs I have to scare away with my coldhearted uppity bitchiness?

Welcome back!  Do hope you're feeling better.  I'm envious of your trip.  From  the loos of it Angie's wedding was beautiful.  I have been popping on and off so I'm not sure what else has happened.  What's left on your wedding to do list?

I was wondering where you were!  I missed you!  Welcome back!  FI got pinkeye over the weekend, and he's 25...if that makes you feel any better.

I know this is gross, but I've gotten pink eye from sleeping in a hotel bed before.  And I know a few people who have, as well!  It comes from not having properly cleaned sheets.

Just a weird tip, but now I usually pack a pillow case when I travel to put over the hotel pillow.  I haven't gotten pink eye since.

And holy crap, when did it become less than a month until your wedding???  I feel like someone went and stole 5 months from me without me noticing.

I've got a few DIY projects to finish (menus, programs, table numbers, escort cards), my dress fitting's tomorrow, and I need to make a decision on what I'm doing about my makeup.

I've still got about 10 lbs that I'd like to lose, but the good news is, my dress fits comfortably again (I gained about 15 lbs after my surgery due to being able to eat again + not being able to work out for six weeks). I'm going to keep with the Wii over the next four weeks, and I should hit my goal (or at least get close to it).

My wedding band arrived while I was overseas, and my fascinator is on it's way as we speak. FI surprised me yesterday and took me window shopping for my wedding gift... :D

On a fun note...rickylee and one of my BMs are throwing me a bachelorette party this week. Expect a lot of KUI-ing. :D</div>

Welcome back! I spent about 24 hours in Austria in 2009 and I loved every second of it! Sorry to hear you were sick. I had a stupid cold the whole time, and I never get sick, but it was still amazing.

Can't wait to see all your DIY stuff. I think my work productivity will take a serious hit when I get engaged because I love all that stuff!!

Welcome back!  We missed your cold-hearted b*tchiness around here while you were gone.  Glad you had fun in Austria though, and I'm jealous of anyone who HAS an SEM.  We're not cool enough here for one.

Also, my advisor once informed me that pink eye is actually chlamydia.  Just in case you were curious.  That's an STD in your eye. 


ETA:  I got engaged while you were gone!!! :-)

Well, your advisor is partially right. Chlamydia can cause conjuctivitus is some cases, but usually it's associated with a bacterial or viral upper respiratory infection (bingo!).
