It's sad... but I've never been there.  Here is my question though.

We are having our engagements done on July 11th with Colton from SixFourteen.  I had originally planned on having them done at the Canals at Las Colinas... but now I'm rethinking that because of the heat.  (I'm from up north and I hate the heat). 

So now I'm thinking about maybe the inside of the Gaylord Texan.  Even thought I've never been there I've heard it's awesome inside (and the website looks amazing). 

Have any of you guys ever been there or heard of/seen pictures taken there??  Would it make a decent backdrop for our engagements??

It's gorgeous, but I've heard they have a hefty fee for using their location and are very strict about it.  I don't know if it would be so obvious since your doing engagements (as opposed to bridals), you might be able to sneak around.

You might call just to see what they say.

Yes, just to take pictures is about $1000 if not more, so I've heard.

The McKinney Cotton Mill is only $50--it's not "indoors" totally, but it really isn't bad in the heat. Makes for awesome pictures.

Well... update on the Gaylord.  They do not charge as long as it's just a camera.  If your photographer brings in other equipment (such as lighting) then there is a fee.  I didn't ask what the fee was though....

Marissa - I love how your wedding is tomorrow and you are still giving advice!

The W hotel is really nice to take engagement pics at too. I don't know if they charge but they have some parts outside that are nice and some stuff inside which I thought would work well for engagement pics.

You might want to check with your photographer, but I think he would need to bring lighting equipment. Our pictures were outdoor (with lots of sunlight) and indoor (inside old trains) and Lynn used lighting equipment during our engagement shoot.

It's very nice. I've been there several times. FI and I are staying there on the wedding night, and I had a friend who just got married there last weekend and from what I've seen of her pictures they're beautiful!

I live in Las Colinas, the canals would have been awesome too...very hot though, you're right. Talk about hair going flat in 5 minutes!

Well I just finished talking with Colton and we're going to take them around Deep Ellum which isn't even a place I was considering!  haha  It fits our modern personalities pretty well from what I've been told.

I'm pretty stoked about it and I totally trust the "artist" in him.    I can't wait to see how they turned out.

Kelly, if you go to the sixfourteen blog and scroll down, you'll see some engagements my friend Hae did in Deep Ellum. I absolutely love them!

Those E-pics that Colton did of Cheryl's friend Hae are some of the best I think I've ever seen.  I loved them.

NMac- Such a cute photo shoot! And all the locations look different than the ones I referred above. Deep Ellum has a lot of great spots.

Thanks Kelly! We had a BLAST taking them. I don't think we stopped laughing the whole time. She kept trying to get us to do a serious face every now and then, but FI wouldn't stop making me laugh!

Can't wait to see how your pictures turn out! Do you have your outfits picked out yet? That was a hard part for me...I had one more outfit I didn't get to change into, I was a little bummed because it was way cute. But because of my MUA fiasco (in another post-rant), we were an hour late to our session so it got dark earlier than we had planned and we ran out of time.

If you want to see some more pics from Deep Ellum, my FI took portraits of some DJs he knows in Deep Ellum a while back. If you go to the Portraits gallery, it's about half of page six and all of page seven. There are some great spots down there!
