Men's Tailoring

I just took FI's measurements so that we can buy him a shirt for the wedding, and my goodness, it's worse than I thought. His neck size puts him in an XL shirt, but all his other measurements would make him a size S. So, if there's any chance of him comfortably wearing his tie at least through the pictures and ceremony, we're going to have to buy an XL shirt and have it tailored down. His suit fits fairly well, but the pants and the sleeves both need to be shortened.

So, my question is, do any of you have a really good tailor to recommend? Does Becky do men's tailoring? What about having a custom shirt made? Do any of you know someone who does that? How much would that cost?

    My dad used to have all his shirts custome made (he's a snob) and while it was done in Oklahoma it was rather expensive. I think the place he went to started at $120 a shirt. However, I'm sure you could find custom shirts for less although I don't know where. Sorry I'm not more help!

    FI also orders custom shirts.  I believe he pays $40-$60 for a shirt.  If you are interested I will get the contact info for you.  Sometimes though, FI will buy a shirt and take it to the tailor.  We use Kee's Tailor in Frisco.  It's off of Preston and Gaylord (I think Gaylord).  I can look it up if you are interested.  I believe he pays around $20 for tailoring.  HTH!

    Renee - Yikes! I sure don't want to pay that much!

    Lacey - Does he go somewhere in person to have shirts custom made? I've seen some online, but I don't trust myself to take all the measurements correctly. If you can get that info for me, that would be great. I'll also look into Kee's Tailor.

    FI uses Zach Boatwright with D-Jones Tailored Collection.  FI works in Lincoln Center, so Zach went to his office to take his measurements.  His number is - 972-743-4260.  I can't remember what the turnaround time is, though.

    FI has teh same problem. Went to buy suit shirts and they are all ginormous on him bc of his fat neck. However, I find if I buy him a shirt not based on neck size they fit just fine.

    Yeah, FI has shirts that fit great everywhere else too. The problem is, then they won't button around his neck. Which means he can't wear a tie.
