Inexpensive Types of Flowers?

Hi girls! I'm starting to look for flowers and don't have a huge floral budget. My wedding is in December and it will be at our local zoo. We want pretty basic flowers because there is so much going on at the zoo in terms of color.

Any inexpensive flower recommendations would be appreciated!

Alstroemeria, mums and carnations are always pretty inexpensive.

Carnations! 

Are you going through a florist or DIY?  I got my roses from a website (flowersandfreshness.com) for very reasonable.  200 roses for 160-ish.

  If you decide to DIY your flowers, you may do well with the flowers I mentioned before (alstroemeria, mums and carnations). They are all long-lasting flowers so you could have them delivered 2-3 days ahead of time and give them a day to rehydrate. Then you could do all the bouquets and whatnot the day before. I wouldn't plan on DIYing andything the day of your wedding though. I just looked at your colors and think you may like a combination of pink alstroemeria or carnations with kermit mums.

I think gerbera daisies are also pretty inexpensive. But, I love carnations as well!

Dahlias are a good choice. Bu changing to them, I dropped my flower budget significantly.

My florist told me Dahlias were not strong enought to last- actually multiple florstis -- and I wanted them SO bad! Are you saying they should hold up because they were really the flowers I wanted and I got talked into Roses and I am so bummed. I fought for Ranaculous too (sp?) but he said they would die as well? Any advice- I keep wanting what I am told I can not have!!! Help!
